Ummm which P-38 was flown th most and when and what did each 38 do in significance to the war?

I don't know about flown the most but according to America's 100K the J and L models were the most produced with 2970 and 3923 built respecively... the G comes in third at 1082.

38F or G model shot down Yamamoto's G4M

Rex Barber shot down Yamamoto's Betty with a P-38G in April 1943.
The first two operational U.S. fighter groups in the 8th AF to go all the way on deep penetration raids escorting bombers were the 20th and 55th, flying P-38H's.
The first U.S. fighters over Berlin were P-38H's and P-38J's of the 20th and 55th fighter groups.
The two top U.S. aces of al time, Major Richard Ira Bong with 40, and Major Thomas B. McGuire with 38, flew P-38H's, P-38J's, and P-38L's.
The first fighters to fly from the U.S. to Europe (Operation Bolero) were P-38F's.
The list is endless.

First fighters to be able to escort 15th AF bombers all the way into Austria, Hungary and Romanian were the P-38s of the 1st and 82nd Fighter Groups.

Well eiher way we can hopefuly agree that teh 38 is teh suck. :D

P-38 (all models) is the only Allied ride worth the scrap-aluminum its made out of. :p :cool: ;)

Dick Bong's first kill was in a 38F-5 with the 39th FS so he flew all the combat 38s outside of the E.
Over half of his kills were in the F,G, H
First kills of the war in the Pacific were by 38Es of the 54th FS in the Aleutians shot down a couple of Mavis flying boats.
First kills in against the LW was 10 days later when a 38F of the 27th FS shot down a Condor
