The pic mid way down of HMS King George V and USS Missouri......that says it all for me.
Yup, we had a little spat a couple of century's ago and sure we like to take the piss out of the each other but......when all's said and done our flags are the same colours.

We where at anchor outside of Yeman in the early 1960's, next to us was a British Corvette (Not the plastic Chevy), Our revelle was at 0500 for those not already on watch. Chow was at 0545 till 0700. After chow at about 0730 I heard a boatswains pipe sound on the British Corvette, and I still remember to this day the exact words .....Now wakey wakey wakey...rise and shine....the mornings fine......don't turn over...turn out.
:rofl

Well, I mean, I knew that, you know, they had a Navy and stuff. But I didn't think anything made in England could go that far without breaking down.
-
Well that's ok cos we don't think American cars can go round corners at anything more than 5mph without spinning off.

true swoop......and at 5mph it feels like a badly made sofa...... :lol

Spinning off?
Is that anything like self gratification?

"Despite American assistance, the British still faced a huge problem. Naval
architects had designed British ships for duty in the confined waters around Britain, not in the vastness of the Pacific"
What a load of bollocks !

They were refering to the logistics of patroling the Pacific. On the same note they had better armored carriers for the same reason. Too bad you didn't finish the article, it was very favorable to the Brit navy.

I take it, then, that you did not read about the refueling techniques, nor how the British carriers had better armour than the US carriers?

When anyone writes "Naval architects had designed British ships for duty in the confined waters around Britain" I am going to switch off.

maybe they could have rephrased that sentence to better suit its meaning. i must admit i did question that myself until i read what it was referring to.
