Ok, I'm not clear as to whether hangars are actually solid objects in the game.
Sure, they are very solid when I fly my plane into the side of them. But last night for instance, my GV was bombed right through the top of an enemy BH. Then a couple of nights ago, I lost a Tiger after I'd driven deep into the indestructible hangar. A B24 level bombed all the hangars on the big pad and sure enough, my GV was destroyed. I drove an M16 over to the Hangar afterwards and there was the bomb crater in the heart of the hangar.
So, it seems bombs (and presumably rockets?) pass through hangars as if they were holograms, but airplanes and shells do not. What gives?

think aluminum skinned...planes will crash upon hitting (you can actually "graze" a hanger), but bombs / rockets should be able to pierce it.

Hi Waffle,
Then why don't bullets and cannon shells also pass through the walls and roof of the hangar? Also, the velocity of say a crashing fully loaded bomber would be at least as destructive as a 500 LB bomb dropped from 1000 feet AGL that also should penetrate the hangar. Even a 50KG bomb doesn't even explode on the roof, it also travels through - I tried it offline.
I'm not asking for any changes mind you, I'm just wondering if there is a rule set that can be posted that outlines what objects will stop at the skin of hangars and what will pass through until it hits a solid object like a vehicle or the ground?

Quite right, my mistake. I've edited my posts in case someone thought I was talking about the things you hang your clothes on.
And remember, Christina, no more wire coathangers.

friendly fire has no effect on hangars..thus u cant shoot out but u can get egged:rolleyes:

Ok, so if I'm hiding in my hangar with a Panzer, can an enemy Panzer shoot me through the walls of my hangar without me being able to return fire through the wall?

I dont think so Seagoon, since his rounds also explode on impact with the hangar wall (for all senses and purposes he could be trying to get the hangar down).
But im pretty sure the *blast* of an explosion passes through the hangar walls. This means that you can get killed by a bomb that gets dropped on the hangar (simply by being in its blast radius).

You would think they would just bomb the VH instead, had to be knights.

Yeah, there is also a shell blast radius effect. For instance, I've destroyed aircraft trying to up from the FH spawn by hitting the exterior hangar wall with HE rounds from my T34.
But in the case of BOMBS, the issue I cited was an enemy bomb traveling straight through the ceiling of my indestructible hangar and then exploding inside, killing my Tiger and leaving a bomb crater inside the indestructible on the hangar floor.
Anyway, can someone from HT please explain under what circumstances bombs, rockets, and shells can travel through the walls and ceilings of Hangars?

No, or it hasent happened to me.
Bullets wont go through a hangar unless it is destoryed. Rockets I think will go through a hangar but it will cause damage to the hangar. And if a hangar is bombed out the bomb marks from a bomb will disappear but when any object is destroyed a bomb mark will stay in the dead center of it untill it is fixed.

yes ord and bullets will go thru hangar but only enemy ones..thus u cannot fire a flak round out but u can lose turrets ( in addition to damage to hangar) from enemy..

You can land on a hanger.:rofl

Yes, did it once when trying to show a newbie the "perfect landing" in TA. Fortunatly he took it with humour ;). And it gives you a LANDED SUCCESSFULLY message.

Bombs and rockets just push through the thin skin of the hangar and explode inside.
Bullets either ricochet or you dont hit anything because you cant see through the hangar. Same with tank rounds.
Knowing where the enemy is and shooting him through hanger would certainly be a cheat in my eyes.
Crashing planes dont do any damage to structures. This is to avoid kamikaze attacks where it doesnt cost the pilot anything to get a new plane in ah, destroying target buildings by crashing into them would be verry unfair.

Once ground forces are that close no serviceable aircraft would be left on the airfield and if any then without pilot. Being able to up from a field where enemy gvs are on the field is pretty gamey.

I can see some reason to justify why bombs go through hangars...
BUT... The same thing happens when trying to bomb a shore battery. You have to drop a bomb DIRECTLY onto the battery, if you hit the hill the battery sits on the bombs go through it and hit the ground. Doing no damage to the gun.
