I'm not a religious follower of my score...I like to use it to see if I'm improving....but...
When a field is capped, and I'm upping to defend.....and I'm getting wiped out before the engine starts........
Is there some way that a death like that does not go against your score?
I dunno...you have to retract your gear, or get 10 sec of flight before you get marks against you?
For the really anal score watchers...it might encourage them to attempt to defend a capped field.
Just a thought
-
Well, if you like to "protect" your fighter score in this situation, score the run as attack.
Otherwise nope, no way to avoid having a kill being refistered in score.
-
You don't defend a caped field by taking off from it anyway. You defend it by taking of from a nearby field and vulcing the vulchers circling the field hoping for a n00b taking off.
And no, there is no way of protecting your score like that.
-
Or you can do what I do and up a il2. It can be scored as a bomber and has them big 23mm guns. Get off the ground and ho every vulcher you can.
-
sure it is called up next base over and come vulch the slow vulchers
-
Or up in a GV, or hop in the field ack.
Personally, I prefer the M-16 as I find the quad .50s much easier to land hits with (then again, I'm more accustomed to the ballistics of the Brownings vs cannon) and they can be real messy. As long as you get guns on the target it's fairly easy to discourage someone from strafing you. Bombs and rockets you need to worry about, but so does an Ostwind.
I quite like the quad 40mm of the CVs, though.

simple dont up a fighter ,my action is up kis ,(score meaning less to me )and after i kill 3 or 4 the rest will run :D
-
You need to get accostumed to firing the brownings? I thought they were just point and kill interface.

gotta luv it:D I did this Friday, base being vulched, decided to up IL2, take off, as I'm rolling down the runway, I see a Yak poping over the hill headed straight for the runway right at me. I get wheels up as he is clearing the hill. He points his nose down and comes right at me, I raise my nose and give it to him right in the face as he fires back. Boom!! Yak dies, and I lose an elevator hehe:p
-
I wish I had filmed it, but a couple of weeks ago I LANDED 6 air-air kills against LaLas, 51Ds and Tiphies in an Il-2. It was a thing of beauty.

couldnt agree more. check my kill stats this tour :p
35% are in IL2, and i have killed more than died in it too.....pesky vulchers.
whats more, when you beat them back, the IL2 is fantastic for de-acking and repaying the vulch 10 fold.
lol, just checked myself: 45 kills for 17 deths in IL2.
-
Only the good get vulched.

Actually no, what I usually hear is "the bombers are tater/999" depending and then everyone dives in hopeing for a tater/999 kill. :p All in fun.:D
-
The best way for them to disapear from your stats is to not takeoff from a capped field.
Taking off from a nearby field and comming in with E is a much better way to defend the field.
The vulchers are almost always very low on E since they are flying very low. Come in at 5-10k and you have all the E advantage you need.
Much better way to defend the base. Much less frustrating. Much more fun. All it takes is that little bit of patience to fly 10-20 miles.

oooorrrr, you can stop caring about the score altogether. =)
Something that was recently taught to me, and now I have a craving to play AH like it was new to me.
NOW it's fun to try and up a Zero, 51B, IL-2, etc, and go Goon hunting.
Imagining (and sometimes receiving) the curses from the team you shot down the goon of is reward enough. =)
Strangely enough, I've been in GVs a bit lately, and I'm not a GV person.

If I see another "I'm getting vulched" whine threa, i'm gonna whine lol
just up another field and come back with alt... its not the guys shooting the planes upping that are dumb... its the planes that keep re-upping 10-15 times in a row getting shot b4 they can even start there engines and then coming on the BBS whining about it are dumb.
the 1st 2 things you do when taking a base are to knock out the VH and cap the field, your a tard if your gonna whine about getting vulched, up somewhere else buddy
-
What is the best plane to vulch in?
Spit16 isn't bad but light on ammo for us who need to shoot alot.
Wish everyone would just admit it, vulching is fun.
-
Vulching is Disgusting...Yet fun fer all skill levels!
Typhoon is a great vulcher btw:aok

205...plenty of cannon (not to mention the perk farming bonus) :)
-
Killing a cap at a vulched base is one of the easiest thing's one can do in this game. If ord is up, find a couple squad mates and start rolling bombers. You will get vulched, and probably alot, but sooner rather than later the vulchers will die off trying to get a precious bomber vulch to better their l33t rank or run out of ammo and run home.

When vulching, I chosse an ME262, accept nothing but the best LOL
-
My last vulches were in a 262, oddly enough, but I like the Hurri, niki, temp/tardfoon, 110G, and chog, or in a pinch, anything with rockets. ;) Stealing vulches with ordnance is more rewarding than one might think.

If the goon is over the town is too late to up next base,
I try to up CAPed base, break CAP, Ho vulchers, and i make it many times, kill the goon or few troopers,
O yes i"m getting vulched a lot, soo what!? Score, K/D, who cares!?
My wife loves me, even if my score sux
-
Heck, just up a Typhy from a near base and don't even attempt to kill anyone. Just fly through the crowd and extend. 10 or 20 will chase you for 2 to 3 sectors (Vulchers Mentality). Then the rest can up against 1 or 2 of the old time vulchers that are left.
:aok

Ridley II-2's are great defense when being vulched bro. It's an armoured plane with a nasty attitude. They can take a serious thrashing and give one just the same.
-
Not that I get the chance to vulch much and I really seem to suck at it:confused: (everyone seems to get to the uppers right befor me) lol
But I really love the A6M when I get the chance. It has some cannon, will fly for a long time on little fuel and after making a pass over a field will turn right back in on it to go again.:D and if your into the perk thing it collects them nicely.
-
I origionally was just wondering what people thought about dying while completely defenseless. Like landing successfully after your ack position has been obliterated.
I'm like ghi's attitude of a few posts earlier.
Except my wife only loves me when I'm not playing.
-
IMHO the best vulching Kampf Wagen is the Fw 190A8 you have 780 rounds of 20mm goodness and a 25 ENY to get your perks up quickly.
I remember back in the day I used to amass about 60 perks with about 15 vulches of fat N1Ks and la7s.
Besides you can brag about being an uber experte Like Blukitty and kappa do ;)
-
When that happens again start upping IL2's:t

:D Sure you do. They do run out of ammo you know. Then, the perk the lala threads start :rofl

Best plane to vulch in is a B-17 at 30K. 24 100lb bombs will do allot of vulching. Nothing like lining up and tossing a couple at the ends and middle of the runway. Out of the clear blue.......BOOM!!!!
Ki-67's are pretty good too because they go so fast at altitude.:aok

upping capped fields is one of the things that saves me from flying20 minutes to get hoed / ganged...might as well do it right off the bat!:t

If you really want to up from a capped base. Take an LA7 out of the hanger. Gun it, stay low and extend for as long as you can. You will get 3-4-5 hungry vulchers following you. When you have dragged them away either let them kill you or bail. Then get on the runway and get up fast in opposite direction you just dragged the vulchers.
-
I tried the Il-2 thing one day. I still couldn't get off the ground.
-
25% fuel, no bombs, no rocks... flaps pull stick back and spray at the first red guy you can find.

I like this one. First good use for bailing I've seen.

Seems to me that allowing bomber gun turrets to be able to fire while the plane is still on the ground would make very good medicine for vulchers :)

No, it isn't.
It's an idea accepted with enthusiasm by all thoughtful right-thinking people.

Except the VH and Ack are the first things to go down. Then come the stangs, 190s, tiffy, and LA7 B&Zing the runways. Town and FH remain untouched.:furious
