Title: LA-7 again
Post by: bagrat on February 05, 2006, 11:40:33 PM
1)well its obviously not goin to be perked,  well atleast can it be remodeled to what it really was.
i read somewhere it was around 20 mph slower than the mustang.

2)I dont want to start another thread, but why is it that for some planes bullet vapor trails fall down instead of up?

P-51 and La-7s are very different beast

La-7 is 30 MPH SLOWER than P-51D at altitude.
La-7 is 13 MPH FASTER than P-51D at sea level
La-7's endurance is only 40 minutes.  P-51 can last up to 8 hours.

The Luftwaffe feared the the La-7 below 5,000 feet and they feared the Mustang above 20,000 feet

La7's not broke, don't fix it.

We just need more people to show some class, up an La5Fn instead of its big brother.  For one no one whines about getting spanked by a la5. If they did you'd simply up next time in a la7 and spank them worse.

Biggest problem is not the plane, but who's flying it. And how they are fighting it.

....snip.....

Actually had that happen to me -- got major ch200 whine from a guy about "hating La's" after I popped this fairly good player  on donut...

When I pointed out that I wasnt in La7, guy said "doesnt matter, all La's are the same"   :lol

Funny thing was, I coulda killed him with a Spit I because he was asleep on climbout.

Moral of the story is that its easier to blame the attackers plane when we make a mistake. I believe most whines happen after a identifiable mistake, not usually because of an Uber attacker.

The problem with the LA is not entirely the speed and flight envelope. Sure it's a VERY capable plane, however, I find this is ONLY so because of the 3-gun package. With this 3-gun package you have far better hitting power and trajectory than the 2-gun package. I upped an LA7 once and got into it with a couple P51Ds. I took the 2-gun package on a lark. So I'm fighting and somewhere I get this sweet shot, I'm below the p51d, he's angled a little away from me, not quite plan-form, and I unload... no less than 20+ hit sprites lit up his fuselage and tail. He didn't even lose oil or gas! NOTHING.

However, next sortie I took the 3 gun package met some more P51s, and every hit produced instant damage (lots of it, too).

Remove the rare-as-sin 3-gun option and leave the 2 gun option as-is, and you will find that the la7 pilot numbers go down.

The down side: They'll all switch to spit16s!!! :rofl

THEN we'd have 60,000 kills in the spit16 every tour, instead of 40,000!!! :rofl

the problem eith the lala is not the plane but the dweebs who fly it. all they do is Ho n Go, which is really lame.

and the same with the spit16's, i have all these luftwobble guys telling me i cant fly my UNDERMODELLED spit, because so many noobs fly it, and give it a bad name.

in my view, the less perk planes we have the better

and the only thing that will fix the stupid noob behaviour is education. all of you guys should drop by the TA some time and show people how to fight properly

The MA is what it is. You can die 1000 times an hour and there is no penalty, and most 44-45 fighters are not perked.

That is the game that it is, and it seems that what most of them want, wether some of us like it or not. Tyranny of the majority. They pay the $ bills.
