It always seemed logical to me that it would take 2 M3's to do what a C47 could do.
M3's should only really carry half the troops or half the supplies of a C47 IMO.
However M3's could be used more in the ground war as they carry a unique ordinance of sorts........... troops ie infantry rather than paras.
Supposing you could target these troops at stuff
You give them a basic order and send them off in a general direction. (basically the direction you are looking when you release them with the command)
A squad of infantry would have a mix of weapons as may be found in any such squad...............but limited to avoid them becoming super porkers.
eg .303 plus an anti tank grenade
You then issue "orders"
/.capture
/.town
/.barracks
/.fuel
/.ammo
/.enemy (gv's)
/.defend
and they attack acordingly. By heading off in the direction you pointed them until within range of a target...they then approach in single file and throw a grenade when close enough. When the target is destroyed the remaining infantrymen then pick up the next target (if its in "range") and repeat.
The command could be enhanced..........
/.town4
sends 4 troops off against town buildings.
/.capture
sends all troops off to capture. This could also be the default command for the button that releases troops as they are now.
Actually I would prefer the M3 limited to 6 troops
Infantry lethality would have to be set properly....... in the main we would be setting the lethality of the single anti tank grenade each infantryman carries
The .303 only comes into play against enemy troops when basically if they come within "range" of each other they kill each other in the shoot off. This is most likely the case when ordered to /.defend.
/.defend
causes them to occupy town buildings. From which they will shoot enemy troops or lob their grenades at enemy gv's.

Would like to bump this very old thread as I feel coming into Aces High 3 ages it could have relevance
Majority of vehicles have anti personal weapons that don't get very much use and it also would help relieve battlefields of camping
A lot of aircraft also have anti personal bombs which don't get any use at all in the game
one of the biggest threat to tanks was A/T personal and still is to this very day, it's not very often you would find a tank rolling around with out some sort of friendly infantry element

sounds pretty cool... and complicated.... the last thing added to this game was in jan 2014... so good luck, lol

Your right it would be realistic but how would these Infantry be able to do anything without proper cover and concealment....that's the key to Infantry manuever is cover concealment speed and security...so you point at the town and they run straight for it like troops currently do? In real life one of those 37MMs would turn back and Infantry platoon in a heartbeat...M3 would be carrying a squad

:aok would also love to see mg emplacements via foxhole, trench, or light bunker built from option of vehicle infantry. Morts and howitzers would be rad too... :noid

if you have troops attacking map/base only logic to have troops already there defending. I mean if you attack a base auto ack is up untill you bring it down. so by logic you must also take down troops defending if you want your own to attack.
while having troops would be nice, be aware that having trenches and defensive positions will also stop some gv's and airplanes from landing or taking off.
be aware of what you ask.

I think that you wouldn't have icons on fighting troops, this would give them more of the element of surprise
If you turn icons off, troops are actually quite hard to see and imagine trying to find one while they are shooting at you
