Pizza by far was one of the worst maps for people who wanted to fight.  Great map if all you wanted to do was fly around hoping you might run into someone looking for a fight.

Pizza was a good map....although I think most will agree that it got a bit old after flying on it night after night.

The canyons were beautiful, making for some outstanding dogfights!!!

I wouldnt mind seeing it raise its head every now and then!!!:)

(sniff)  i miss pizza

:cry

i love the big maps. if you want to furball or sneak or find smaller fights, larger maps are the best.  in small maps with 500 people on, i get shot down alot:huh  i can barely hang one on one but 20 on 1?   fahget about it

:D

Hated that map.  Fights were hard to find and fighting in them valleys sucked.  I only remember one good area to fight and was down south between the two continents as was fairly close considering.

It wasn't Pizza Furb it was OZ map before they had to limit carriers etc because of frame rates.

There weren't that many carriers on Pizza.  I agree had there been it would have been better.

Pizza didn't have furballs, the bases were too far apart.

pizza was sweet.

and furball is correct (eewwww), the best fights were always found on one of the CVs around the edge of the map.  each side had at least 2/3 CVs .

it is the AK pizza map i am talking about, there were a ridiculous amount of CV's per team, maybe not 12 but a lot, it was awesome - used to love Chog flying on that map, could rack up 10 or 20 kills a sortie easily!

We have large maps even now that we are stuck with skuzzy shows up on Wednesday. Pizza was reset several times. And that was when we only had 400 players in the MA at prime time. Now with near 600+ it could only be better

LOL This just proves fights were hard to come by.  Do you hear of people doing alternative things on Fester, Oz or Donut.  The reason people started racing 262s through canyons is because the fighting on Pizza sucked and people wanted something else to do.

As for map getting reset a lot, of course it did, all people did was sneak bases.  The fields were so far apart that mounting a defense was useless.

Pizza was loved by guys who wanted to take bases un-opposed, just ask Shubie and Beetle.

You kidding. it had a noodle of its own.

All you hadta do was llook at the entire map when  it would first come up (maybe someone still has a screenshot)

That being said. I loved the pizza map. Of you couldnt find a fight somewhere then you simply werent looking hard enough because I never had a problem finding a fight or in seeing where the fights were

The only thing I didnt like about pizza was the rocks lol.

In any event Great post!

Yeah Dred if you wanted to climb to 15k and fly around for 15 mins you would eventually find a fight.  Personally I would never play this game if that was the norm and most nights Pizza was up I would log and do some thing else.

I never saw what you discribe either.

But it would depend on what kind of fight you were looking for.

I'f you were looking for huge furballs (the kind of fights I DONT like)
Then yea. it was hard to find a fight.

But there were usually several smaller fights going on at any given time.

Had some good GV battles going on too which made for a nice change of pace

And dogfighting in the canyons was a real blast

Why does AH terrian have to be so dark? Its a depressing dark green...even when the sun is at its brightest. The trees I've learned to live with. We have no fields, just dark green patches with these pyramids everywhere. If it were more multi colored it would be alot nicer.

Back in the day, when we had 250-300 people on at prime time and 100 or so durring the day, pizza sucked bad. Now the MA is so full of crap people, soemtimes 700 people at night, Pizza might not be all that bad. And a change in scenery would be excellent.

What would be cool is if someone skin'd pizza green over all of the flat land and then left the huge canyons and cracks brown/dirt color.

Well, considering the fields were already 10k+ alt that wasn't so bad. :D

I miss the pizza map.  It seemed to me the furballs were in the corners where the water (and the CV's) were plentiful.  I found lots of fights - fights that could actually be finished before "help" arrived.  The terrain color was monotonous but the canyons were cool.

Pizza was a large map with some good base battles going at nearly any given time. The new ones are just a matter of who has the biggest horde at any given time. I also miss the trips to Hawaii. :)

You know. We could have pizza map back. With the graphic improvements.

All it takes is someone to take the time to make it.
In fact anyone can make a map and submit it for approval for use in the MA

I'd love to as I think I have some ideas for a really great map. Complete with a fightertown type area and all the canyons, GV bases and a HQ area that would be an actual challange to bomb
Unfortunately.
I probably dont have the talent or patience required to accomplish this task LOL

I wish that were true Jack.  I saw very little of Fester cause it got reset quickly. Oz was a little better and Donut was gone way to fast.

AS for the lameness, if it is fighting that you are speaking of, then these maps are guilty.  If it is undefended base capturing and hording, then you are wrong.  Pizza was the worst offender when it came to this kind of lameness.  Because the fields were so far apart you could not defend against the hord once it was on your base.  By the time you upped from another field a sector away it was too late.

Because the fields are close together on Fester, Oz and Donut the defenders have a much better chance of fight back the hordes.  Perhaps this is the real reason a small group of people don't lile these maps, because they are not safe hideing in the horde anymore.

Yeah straffo both of those maps suck!

The only way Pizza would be good is if the base spacing followed the lessons of Fester, Oz or Donut.  Add an uncapturable fighter town and the map will be an instant winner.  Make these changes and I am for Pizza.

As for 5 carriers on Pizza, with the overall size and lack of water, 5 was not enough.

I like the new map reacher, better have at least 10 carriers per country and at least half of the fields less than a sector apart.  Put a fighter town off in a remote corner and make it so people cant hide carriers in the large open water and I think you would have a winner.

The best part of The great 3 maps (Fester, Oz and Donut) is that, with bases close together, even when the fun nazis kill hangers are your first field there is a close enough base to up from to keep the fight going.  If you are a person who doesn't like to fight then I can understand why you wouldn't like the Great 3 maps.:aok

BTW - I've won that trip to Hawii in the MAW to many times before. :D

By the time you upped from another field a sector...
Now THAT's what I call lameness. It's a very long time since I played, but threads like this bring back the memories. The lamest thing of all was when two sides were ~evenly matched and the fight was going on in a mixture of plane types between bases, but as one side started to lose, they'd start upping LA7's... from another field a sector away. LAME, LAME, LAME!!
Title: Bravo!!!..PIZZA is Back!!

the idea for 4 islands was so CV's couldn't be stolen....each of those islands have shore batteries for each country to prvent CV's from passing thru the choke point.

maybe i'll submit it. i was working on this map when FBomber was working on his map...pre donut. maybe i'll host it on H2H and get some feed back on it.

i don't think the water would be excepted.

LOL look what the Dog dragged in. HAHAHA  Thanks for accentuating my point.  Personally let the LA7s come, it will be just as much fun killing them too!

Keep going reacher - Definately add a Fighter Town on one of the corners in the middle of no where, far away from everything and submit it!
