Title: Why doesn't the latest White house vandalism surprise me?
Post by: Ripsnort on January 25, 2001, 08:22:00 AM
I wish some of you Dems could tell me why I'm not at all surprised at this?   After all, you are the landlords, being a taxpayer...

The Bush Administration has quietly launched an investigation into apparent acts of vandalism
and destruction of federal property -- after incoming Bush staffers discover widespread
sabotage of White House office equipment and lewd messages left behind by previous tenants!

Harriet Miers, 55, Assistant to President Bush and staff secretary will be investigating
possible legal ramifications of the White House trashing and possible theft.

"Miers is just beginning her investigation," a well-place source said late Wednesday from
Washington. "The level of the trashing is very troubling, this is not just 'W' keys missing
from keyboards."

The damage left by departing Clintonites goes "way beyond pranks, to vandalism", said a close
Bush adviser.

White House employees aren't waiting to be interviewed by Miers. They are providing names of
the worst malefactors, previous occupants of specific offices.

Photographic and audio evidence is being collected -- as the full scope of the damage becomes
clear.

Bush's staff has been cautioned not to go public with the extent of the damage and the worst
is being closely held among very top staffers for fear of leaks. But, according to sources, so
far Bush officials have found:

*Phone lines were cut, rendering them inoperable.

*Voice mail messages were changed to obscene, scatological greetings. One Bush staffer had his
grandmother call from the Midwest. She was horrified by what she heard on the other end of the
line.

*Many phone lines misdirected to other government offices.

*Desks found turned completely upside down and trash deliberately left everywhere.

*Computer printers that were filled with blank paper but interspersed with pornographic
pictures and obscene slogans that would be revealed only as items were run off the computer.

*'W' keys weren't just pried off more than 40 keyboards, some were glued on with Superglue;
some were turned upside down and glued on.

*Filing cabinets glued shut.

*VP Office space in the Old Executive Office Building found in complete shambles. Mrs. Gore
had to phone Mrs. Cheney to apologize, first reported by Rich Galen's Mullings.

*Lewd MagicMarker graffiti found on one office hallway.

I'm not a Bush fan but I would have to say that if what you posted is true it's pathetic. It just shows bad taste and a sour grapes, cry baby, childish attitude. It's too bad. You always hope the people on top are above that petty crap.

Destruction of Gov't property is not humor.  That's my tax dollars they trashed, and my tax dollars they have to replace equipment with.

Doesn't surprise me. Looked like the average age of his staffer was about 21. Look at his last, in a line of many, press spokesman. He looked about 19. Then again willie liked them young....and impressionable.

Yep, Rip and when they replace that $10 keyboard it'll probably cost us tax payers about $50..at least.

Rip, nice story

Where'd you get it from?

Minor pranks. It will set you back less than a dummy bomb, yet it will affect everyone's day more  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Not saying it is right.

Story can be found in the Washington Post, yesterdays edition I believe.

Yeah, real funny, if it was a Repub prez that just left office, and had done this, I'm sure you would have been the first to report 'the outrage', Santa <Rolls eyes once again at the hipocrasy>

And the damaged desks?  These are of mahogony...how about the time and money of repairing cut phone lines?  How about those stains next to the presidents desk?

Umm, guys, we're talking about people who run the Gov't...not a high school dance where things got alittle carried away.  Down right scary if you ask me.

Well their leader has repeatedly demonstrated that his development was frozen somewhere between 16 and 19 years old.  It doesn't surprise me that his minions are even less mature.

Here's a little more:

Air Force One Looted on Last Clinton Trip As Aides Trash White House

The super-deluxe 747 that had been Air Force One only hours before the Clintons commandeered it for their flight home to Chappaqua, N.Y., was "stripped bare" by the time it landed, an Air Force steward told the Washington Times Thursday.

At the direction of President Bush, stewards saw to it that the Clintons' last flight would include all the amenities of presidential air travel. But after Bill, Hillary and Chelsea deplaned, reports the Times, porcelain china, silverware, salt and pepper shakers, blankets, pillow cases - anything bearing the presidential seal that wasn't nailed down - were missing.

News of the apparent first family looting of Air Force One comes on the heels of reports that Clinton-Gore aides literally trashed the White House hours before the Bushes moved in.

Eagler, that would mean they had some kind of altruistic motives. That is in direct opposition to this "family's" history. They are lawyers, who give lawyers a bad name.

Well I will be the first to bash kkklinton in any shape or form. But come on now this is a tradition that has been going on for years. Anyone in the military and goes to temporary barracks does it. I deploy to Great Inagua for 2 weeks about 5 times a year. We stay in temporary hooches. I.E. Trailers. When we get there its not uncommon to find fish swimming in your toilet, crabs (the crustacean kind)  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) in your rack under the sheets, your ac duct blocked by blankets, sea dye marker in the shower head. You think that a mahogony desk or a keyboard is a drop in the governments money? Like I said, I cant stand ol bubba kkklinton, but what was done has been done before and will be done again.

While I doubt ol Ronnie did anything personly Id bet my next paycheck that his staffers did. I find it funny that the one time the media tries to jump on kkklinton for something he probably had nothing to do with it.

Disclaimer: Betting over state lines is illegal.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Anyways my paycheck is next to nothing. Hopefully Bush will fix this problem soon like he promised!

Certainly not nearly as cost effective as not having to repair anything at all is it?

Oh well, kids will be kids, right?

I guess it depends on the definition of "responsible", "accountable" and "is"?
