i know its probabley stupid but photo recon missions might be a good addition to the senarios at least. So the mosquito that has a plastic nose (im not sure which mark it is) could be added???... it may add something more to the game??? wot u all think ???
-
would be cool like post it in the tower and stuff under a clickable on the chalkboard for intel.
-
Question is what would you use it for? We already have maps of all the field/base/factory/etc. layouts built-in. There's no troop movements to track, and most people don't seem to care about the trucks, barges and killer trains to bother with taking pictures of them.
-
I would bring back a picture of
the rearm pad(from ground level)
the ceiling of a hanger(while inverted)
my buddys plane
a closeup of a n00bs bomber
blurred close up of some bishrook chute
and about 3 dozen close ups of some guys plane as I fly directly above his cockpit
and let whoever wants to look through photo intel, puzzle it all out
-
it would be cool to do photo recon
-
Photo Recon, y not. though i would never use it
-
Can post pictures in tower. Can show where gvs may be located on a feild. Can be great for tanktowns.
-
true
-
what would photo recon do? nobody would stay in the same place when they realize they are being reconed don't see any use for it since the enviroment is constantly changing
-
Well, maybe if they added a "fog of war" feature, or randomized airfields, field guns, ack positions not assigned to a given field, etc.
-
I think there should not be model of fighter or bomber of enemy shown.
-
Maybe it could be used for finding fleets,if you take a photo of an enemy fleet you get bomber perks like 10 for CV + 7 for cruiser and 3 for each small ship.
-
i like the fog of war idea for photo recon:noid
-
maybe a recon plane could act almost like a radar tower (or awacs)
basically if it is above 5,000 feet it could show aircraft and vehicles within a certain radius.. gamey yes, but would be quite cool.
-
the plane should be lower and slower to "spot" gv's.a good photo recon ship is the f-5(p-38 with camera instead of guns in the nose)or the fw 189 or the storch or the fw 200:noid

if you could remain low and do it, someone could just go afk and stay parked in the BH.
if they have to be above a certain alt it means that someone has to have controlled it there and that it is a target for enemy fighters.

say again? you didn't make sence.:noid

HTC could modify the strat page on the clipboard so that it would only show the current status of allied fields. Then...
a) Recent recon flights in the vicinity of an enemy airfield would make that particular field available on the strat page.
-or-
b) A new interface would make all allied recon reports/photos available to friendly pilots (sorted by airfield or grid square or something to make it manageable).
-
cool

Just a good reason to have SR-71... :t

Yes! I don't know if the pics need to be available, but certainly the status of an enemy airfield ( fighters disabled, troops disabled... etc ) would only be known if a photo-recon type aircraft flew near enough to the target area, enabled gun camera, and safely returned to base with the camera equipment ( CAN be damaged in combat! )
And... taking photo recon of enemy fleets would cause the enemy ship icon to be visible on the country's clipboard after a safe RTB The exact heading would be depend on how close the recon craft got to the fleet.. Last minute skewing of the course shouldn't affect the result, since 'real' wakes lasted a bit longer that what we see in the game. The fleet position would be posted with a time -stamp with removal after an hour of posting, or if a subsequent recon mission proved it had moved.
Recon perks could be used to obtain longer range cameras.. and maybe higher octane petrol..

We did this in an old AW scenario. There was a two pilot recon flight that had a Spitfire XI(no shooting with a Spit IX) and a Mosquito for Recce work. The goal was to photograph the target after the bombers went in.
The guys who flew it, seemed to enjoy the challenge of getting in and out with the photos and not getting shot down.
Not sure how you'd make that last in the MA though.

You mean the F-5 that they tried to replace with the F-8 Mosquito because the Mosquito was faster and had twice the range?

i like both ideas
som modyfications/additioins
In ww2 was 2 diferent kindes of photo recon, strategical and tactical
as for tactical
Taking picture of airfield- port-VH will show additional data in strat, as Time to rebuild buildings, hangars, strats for 1 hour after recon flight.
but this will limit alt of recon to 5-10kft and require steady flight (auto, level and straight) over by target by som time (3-5 min?)
Plane should (could ) be able to photograph no more then 2-3 targets in flight
Data wil be transfer to strat only after landing. And only if recon bird land on same airfield he take off.
Flight should be scored as bomber
-
Photograph a CV and it gets posted with its co-ordinates.
Tells everyone where the enemy CV was last seen - and it's state (i.e. no. cruisers, radar etc).
might have some use.

Well, I doubt it would be the most popular mission in the game, but it would certainly add something.
It would open up the planeset a bit more – giving players a wider variety of aircraft to tool around in. And, if I’m not mistaken, there were recce versions of some of the aircraft we currently have in the game; so it should be relatively easy to implement a couple of recon models.
The furballers shouldn’t mind, since they don’t care about strats anyhow. In fact, adding recon planes to the game would give the pure dogfighters more targets to gun for. Instead of just goon hunting, you could now go goon/recce hunting.
The strat folks seem to enjoy all things strategic/realistic, so this would be right up their alley.
The folks who do a little of both would benefit by having another type of mission to keep them interested in the game.
Seems like a win/win… now if they could only find the development time to implement it.

Also, some standard production aircraft were field fit with cameras. I remember reading an account of a USN pilot who drew the squadron commander's F6F on a fighter sweep, which was fit with a camera on one side.
-
some photo/observation planes were hs 129's and the storch and eul and ect.:noid
-
I think photo recon would be sweeeet...
We could start out after each reset and only know where our bases are... or have some "intel" where the enemy bases might be... we would then launch some photo recon birds and player's maps could be updated as they complete their flights...
Not suitable for the MA but it could be a fun component for Axis Vs. Allies / ToD / or at least a senario or two.
And if that wasn't enough excitment maybe they could call in an artillery strike... who knows. =)
:aok
