St Santa,
I'm not even Christian (I'm agnostic) and I find your new signature to be insulting.
Whenever things like that are displayed, it is an attack, a method of discrimination, against those who are members of the group the symbol attacks.
That signature is a discriminatory, hate symbol against Christians.
Kindly lose the signature.
Thanks,
-Karnak

Please, thank you.

he did it on purpose to provoke just that.

StSanta that is really a poor choice for a sig.

he did it on purpose to provoke just that.
Then he succeeded.
Add me to the list as well. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

It's a bit harsh StSanta; I guess that's why you did it.
But so is posting pictures of luftwaffe pilots looking peased with themselves, sat on a seat with the US Airforce emblem on it. I've seen that here and I didn't see many people complain. That's pretty tasteless, I think.
Having said that though, take a look at some of the squads formed up for WW2 Online. I saw one squad (Gorings own squad or something) with an authentic recruiting poster from the war; it showed Goring in all his bloated glory encouraging young Germans to join the LW. This was proclaimed to be 'cool'.

I think signature tags should have some guideline, which would prevent such stupid singatures and oversized signatures (like that one 100kb gif animation) which has nothing to do with signature really.
My opinion of signature pictures...
I don't really like that 'seat' picture because it's big scaled picture. (IMHO, text should be more important than some image which is being ten times bigger)
I wonder why people puts up some gallery as their signature.. why not to just put up a webpage?
Heres some more posters for you (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

imho That message (read:troll) was crowned by that sig.
I was sure somebody will start a "Holy War" against it.
You guys are funny when you take things too serious (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).
I'm not a religious person but my grandmother was a keeper of "Tsasouna", a "House of Prayer" and I never would insult her's memory. Maybe I'm looking both message and sig from little farther and can see them both at same time
(or I'm just stupid fool whos only fun is sacrifice poor lambs and chickens and play "Dungeon Keeper" in rl(tm)).
Flame on....
edit: I Just read a fun (really!) joke about hunter and few bears having some sex together.
Should someone whos hobby is hunting or who likes to keep up animals rights start a campaign against such jokes? Or maybe someone who would like to get some name as a "Killer of bestiality in AH's ubb" ?
relax guys...

Eh? I took it to mean "keep your religion outta my face". Of course, I could be wrong, since he IS satan. Lighten up guys, sheesh, I doubt he's calling for war against the evils of christianity.
SOB
...raised Catholic, therefor don't believe in God.

Eeeeeeeeeek
Well, I wanted some kind of a response, but not this.
Sorry guys, dinnae think you'd find it that offensive. I just had this cute quote, and I thought "what would be funny to add as a pic...?" and I was listening to Bad Religion at the time, so whoop, there it was.
BR picked that logo up way back 20 years ago when they started up as a band and chose it because "it would irritate adults". There's nothing more sinister about it than that.
It's not meant to be antagonistic in *that* way. It ain't meant to persecute Christians either. Meant to produce a self reflecting ironic chuckle, little more. The statement is much like SOB and Staga described it.
But, from what I gather, it is difficult for people without a faith to truly understand how important religious beliefs are to believers. To us, blasphemy is a victimless crime. We're in a minority and could quite possibly be wrong (and that would be kinda nice, really) and my actions reflect only me and not other non theists out there. Most are much more sensitive than me. Very little is holy to me, since very little really matters in the long run anyway. I'm just in it for the ride, baby.
I guess it's a perfect illustration of why some people just seem to hate me for (seemingly to me) no particular reason (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif).
Sometimes, playing life in general on the edge and pushing things and buttons is more appealing than walking down the main street. Occasionally, one wanders a bit too far off, and that seems to be what I've done here, failing to take into account cultural differences.
So, my apologies to those I have offended. It wasn't my intention and I sincerely regret any harm of grief I might have caused.
I am sure you'll like this one a lot better (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm spanish. I love german aircraft, I admire luftwaffe pilots for their actions. I hate nazis.
But I dont find that sig tasteless, nor offending nor nothing. If someone is so brainless to find it that way then I suggest not posting ANY pilot photo here because German, Italian, japanese, French, Russian, British, american, WHATEVER will be OFFENDED.
So chill and learn, Dowding, because your Allied "good boys" did a lot of bad things too, and if you find offensive to see german pilots' photos posted I suggest you to say the same about allied pilots.
In the StSanta sig, see...I'm christian. Near catolicism but for sure not a catolic. I see a lot of bassic failures in catolic religion, never answered or explained by the doctrine, I see a lot of errors in catholic church, and so I cant believe in what they tell me. I think there is someone up there hearing us, I believe he is near what original christian church said, not what HUMAN porked church says.
Anyway, I dont feel offended by a signature. If someone wants to post a swastika,I wont feel offended. If a guy is so stupid to post it then I feel sorry about him, not offended.
I know santa enough to know what he wanted with that sig. But If i had not known him it would've been just the same. He has the right to post the photos or sigs he wants, and I would've thought "wow, this guy has a problem (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)"
If someone wants to post a "heil Hitler" then I will think "what an prettythang", but I will never be offended by a brainless stupid.

lol - How very, very sad. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
Let's just do a brief tour of histoy here; firstly who instigated and pursued the war? Please tell me that you think it was Germany, or have all my history lessons been in vain? You admire LW aces. I guess you refer to the 'valiant' defence of their fatherland from the murderous fury of the evil allies. Well, just what do you think they were doing in 1939 and 1940 when Germany were totally on the offensive? Listening to it on the radio? Most of them would have been involved - whereas the allied pilots you seem effortlessly to be able to compare to confirmed Nazis, were fighting and dying for MY country, and for the rest of the free world (and that includes yours). I know who I admire. They didn't want the war, they didn't attack neighbouring countries in an effort to enslave them under the hateful banner of the swastika.
It leaves a bad taste in my mouth that people can be so apologetic of the Nazis and co., yet so uncompromising in their evaluation of the allies' conduct of the war. Something doesn't quite fit there.
And please don't patronize me about the allied atrocities. They occurred; but against a background of human catastrophe instigated by the Nazis (and supported by the German nation).
I respect the LW aces - but admire? I'm sorry, I just can't. And I put it to you, who was fighting for the just cause?
But this is my opinion, wouldn't want to force it on anyone else. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

The only reason why StSanta really should remove that picture from his signature is if he wants to keep good relations to some fellows on this board.
As for me, I do not find that picture that offensive. Whatever that picture tries to convey could have been written in words too. Maybe it would have been more acceptable if StSanta had written "I don't like christianity" or something else like that in his signature instead? I really do think he is entitled to have a personal opinion, whatever it might be, on any religion, be it mine or someone else's.
Well, at least this thread has not degenerated (yet?) to the utter mudslinging and flaming that sometimes is seen. Let's continue being civilized, people (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).

I am an American...but that doesn't stop me from finding the picture of the 109 pilot sitting on the American chair to be funny.
And yes, I had relatives who fought in that war too, just like the rest of us. And from the way most of them talk, THEY would find it funny.
I'm Catholic...but that sig with the "banned cross" doesn't bug me either. If he had plastered it on the doors of my church--then it wouldn't be funny.
Heck, if there were swasticas on the German planes--like there really should be--it wouldn't bug me. In fact, I think it's a bit silly to leave them off....the planes don't look "authentic" without them. Why not leave the Rising Suns off the Japanese planes because some Chinese person might be offended by it?
Just because something would bother you in real life, doesn't mean it should bother you in the non-existant "virtual" would of the Internet. ESPECIALLY if it is just an object--not what a person is feeling.

J_A_B,
The Japanese planes have Hinomaru's because that is the symbol that was used on Japanese aircraft and still is.
The German aircraft have Iron Crosses because that is the symbol that was used on German aircraft and still is.
The Swastika was a political symbol that was introduced by the Nazi party and removed once the Nazi party had been removed.
The Hinomaru was used before the Imperial Army took power and continued to be used after the Imperial Army was removed.

I couldn't give a rat's bellybutton whether or not the swastika is on the German planes in AH. It's only a game, and it's supposed to give an idea of air combat in WW2. It does this pretty well if you ask me. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
What gets my goat is the way people 'admire' German pilots and are disparaging of Allied ones in the same breath - I've seen this view in other topics (from some time ago) and wanted to comment. Only way I could do that is if someone expresses them again - what better way than commenting on 'that' picture?
BTW - I asked some of my family about their view on the picture. My gran, who was a WAAFI in the war, and lost a brother on a Sunderland - it was shot up by a German nightfighter as it came into land - didn't find it funny at all. And neither did my Granddad, who was on the Russian convoys.
I honestly think that people in Britain are still sensitive about the War, and the part played by the Germans. I still think that there is anti-german feeling in a large proportion of the population (but that maybe due to them beating us at football (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)).
Quote from RAM:
"But I dont find that sig tasteless, nor offending nor nothing. If someone is so brainless to find it that way..."
Calling someone brainless for saying something you don't happen to agree with is very strange. You might find yourself open to the accusation that you are a "...brainless stupid..." [sic] - although I couldn't possibly agree with such a comment.
BTW - the look on the pilot's face is the thing that disturbs me more than anything - but that's just my interpretation of it (overactive imagination, obviously).
The onion page is very, very funny. Closest I've ever been to ROFLOL. This page is in similar spoof taste, although I think it will only strike a chord with Brit. television viewers, however. Reputed to be written by the great Chris Morris.

Did anyone watch Michael Moore's TV Nation? They did this piece on the proportion of the American public that still believe that the Creation story is a true account of the creation of the universe and of life on Earth. Seem to remember it was quite high; very interesting story, I wonder how much of it was true.
