I like F4U-1D and always fly it, I know basic tips for kill and survive. But still don't know how to "master" the Hog.
Any suggestions, links or films wl be appreciated.

Balsy, Jish, Sirloin, TC, Yucca, to name but a few are all expert hog pilots, try find one of them and beg for an hour in DA.

BatfinkV, thanks for these links!
How I wish to be trained in DA/TA - It's the best way to learn, but I'm afraid that my poor English listening comprehension will be a big big problem.
-
your written english looks perfect :aok.
if no one will train you i will give it a go, but im not an expert in any plane let alone the F4U.
let me know if i can help.
-
Shohei the person who need is TequilaChaser. Do a search for him using that name and send him a PM via the UBB. TC is a Hog expert and the Head Trainer as well.
Good luck!
Max

I don't want to be put up on any shelf or listed as being an expert, I just love the F4U series planes as all navy planes because of my being served in the Navy in a squadron....:) but thank you Max for the nice words ~S~
If ya need any help Shohei, I would be glad to hook up with you, email me at TequilaChaser(at)flyaceshigh.com
others listed by B@tfink in no particular order are awesome as well: Widewing, Badboy, BluKitty, Jish65, Yucca, BigMax, Balsy, ManeTMP, Sirloin, F4UDOA, AGalland, along with some others. And to add any of the listed Trainers should be able to help you regardless of plane type.......
and one does not have to be listed as an Aces High Trainer to help train someone, lots of people here help lots of others; just be sure to get views from a few different sources, sometimes someone can mislead you and not even know they are misleading you because they were mislead to start with.

:o
you still beat me tex, im just a dweeb.

Thanks ALL! (http://fox3.idv.tw/snitz_forums3405/icon_smile_dead.gif) I'll send my training request when I'm ready.
One question about time zone: mine is GMT+8 (Taipei,Taiwan) 23:00pm~01:00am after my son goes sleep. what's yours?

Shohei,
Im no master at the hog but feel pretty confident in the jug. Since the two planes are relativly similar I might help out a bit here over the forums but inorder to not say what you already know Id like you to answer a two questions.
Do you use flaps in combat?
How confident are you with vertical ACMs?

Tex I recently began flying the P 47N and would appreciate any tips or online training you might have to offer. So far I've discovered that alt and patience go a long way to getting kills..but alas...I'm very greedy :rofl

Oh! P47, it is another fighter that I always respect. I had experiences killed by
Trkid who flown P47 like Spit-V, althought P47 looks like a fat pig.
Do you use flaps in combat?
Yes, I use flaps in combat (under 200mph), flaps helped my F4U keeps altitude in low speed.
How confident are you with vertical ACMs?
50% in case I've advantage, 10% in case I've not. especially enemy knows to slow down in order to keeping on my six.
It seems the torque is the key to succesuss. torque can help F4U to turn (or reverse?) quickly without loss too much E. I noticed slide ball is the important gauge that I've to study.

Well i did type for like 40 mins a long tutorial on how to fly a jug for this post. But alas, while trouble shooting some problems for an FTP site i closed the darn thing lol.
Biggest thing to know about a jug is you have to be much more alert than a spit or 190 pilot to have good success. Lose sight lose fight.

Inorder to master a plane with good combat flaps (most US rides have em) you need to use em for more then just low and slow flying.
Ill give a few examples on good flaps usage.
You are merging with your enemy. You dive in under him inorder to avoid the HO and do a immelman as you opening move.
Lets pause here a bit. I dont know if you do know why you want to do a immelman after the merge so Ill explain quickly. Immelman reverses you 180 degrees much faster then a flat turn does. The Immelman, since its a vertical manouver, stores E while a falt turn just burns E.
You need to track your enemy to see what he does. If he is flat turning you wana exit the Immelman in a dive inorder to manouver on to his six. You will have rear quarter high position on your enemy so getting on the six is easy from here. If the enemy is skilled he will be in a Immelman manouver as well. In this situation you have a new merge and once again you wana get under his nose inorder to avoid the HO and gain vertical sparation. I dont wana create a overload for your brain but trust me having vertical spearation where the enemy is above you in the merge is extreamly important.
So no matter what happens you want to have your nose pointing down after the immelman.
Ok so you are doing your Immelman. When approaching the top of the immelman your speed is low enough to extend your flaps. If you do extend your flaps at this point you will tighten the top of the immelman and get your nose down faster. Its basicly like any turn the slower you go the tighter the turn. The slower you go at the top of a vertical manouver the tighter. By making it tighter you also complete the manouver faster. By using flaps you have stability in your plane through out the entire manouver.
Once your nose is pointing downwards retract your flaps.
Basicly this applies to any vertical manouver if you use your flaps at the top of the manouver you complete it faster.

In a jug if im turning im droppin flap :) The only time i use only 1 click of flap is for a merge. And there is some talk that the dive flaps on say a D40 or a p38L will give you a couple degrees lift. But then I heard that HT porked it because he didn't want people using them for overshoots and such. So they only model the physics for a dive flap for beyond perhaps 400mph and beyond or something. I honestly dont use them for acm. Although, i would love it if someone could tell me if HT had a post about the modeling of dive flaps or if he himself could tell us.

Just finished my 1st lesson. thank you, BatfinkV.
