The just did a story on this woman who fell for it; she owes the bank $47,000 for money that was sent to her as a bad check and then she forwarded it by wire overseas. She has to cover the bad check.
I’ve always wondered how often people fall for these scams. I guess if you send out 50 billion Emails someone is bound to.

Even in the UK the African scamming industry is a £12m/year business. People become victims of their own greed.

I had some 50+ letters from these guys.
Funny part is that if you reply in a curious manner, you can actually make contact. So, it really shouldn't be too hard catching them.
Had loads of fun and toyng with them before giving the final word like FBI or Interpol, lol....

I get those from time to time, but heres my personal favorite.
Did you guys know that 2 years ago the African country of Nimbau ( yes Nimbau) had a cival war and the leader was killed in a car crash trying to escape? Well his children and wife were captured, and she has $150,000,000, that she wants to deposit in my bank acct so I can invest it for her, and of course 10% is for me. All this because back in 1985 my grandfather helped her and her husband build a contracting company in thie rcountry. Funny how my granddad helped them in 1985 since he died back in 1978. Even funnier is the fact that he never worked in consturction, and didn't know diddle squat about buisness.

I got one from someone claiming to be in a detention centre in Senegal. Must have been quite a detention centre, what with an internet café for the detainees! :lol

When I was selling my Comanche I had a guy respond to the add in Trade a Plane. It was a modification of the scam based on me selling my plane to him for double the asking price and delivering after I refund half of the price back to him for an additional fee. Oh and he thought I'd fly it accross the ocean to Austrailia do deliver it as well.

They won the Ignobel prize last year for literature:
LITERATURE: The Internet entrepreneurs of Nigeria, for creating and then using e-mail to distribute a bold series of short stories, thus introducing millions of readers to a cast of rich characters -- General Sani Abacha, Mrs. Mariam Sanni Abacha, Barrister Jon A Mbeki Esq., and others -- each of whom requires just a small amount of expense money so as to obtain access to the great wealth to which they are entitled and which they would like to share with the kind person who assists them.
