Damn..who knew you could get injured at work where all you do is bag groceries? At the Albertson's where I work, the parking lot is a large hill, because the land used to be a drive-in movie theatre. Regularly we (as in me and fellow baggers) must go the the bottom of said hill to fetch stray buggies that are always rolling down there. On one occasion, last Saturday, I had gone down to get a lone buggy. As I was coming back up the hill with it, I can hear a car to my right. Natural instinct took over, and I looked. Here comes this silver Honda Civic, at at least 10 or 15 MPH, well over the 5 MPH speed limit, heading straight for me. I figured he would turn,so I kept walking, watching him. He never even turned. I panicked, and released the buggy and began running. I wasn't fast enough. His right mirror caught me in the side of the stomach. I knew it was the mirrior because I heard it snap shut on impact (a folding mirror). I was knocked to the ground, in a rather large amount of pain. I could not obtain a lisence number from him in my dizziness in the fall. But get this, the driver NEVER stopped, slowed, or even look back. He quickly turned onto Jacksboro Highway and sped off. I made my way back to the store and told my manager. The doctor said I am ok, no broken bones, just a large bruise. He said that if he was going faster, or if his mirror wasn't a folding type (i.e. electric or solid) it could have been worse.
I hate some Texas driver...
 :( :(

Sounds like a terrorist attack to me.
-
Naw..the guy was white, and besides, who would want to kill a low-life bastard like me? ;)
-
he deliberately hit you? wow.
-
He he.
That reminds me. Why do the talking heads keep saying Americans are all afraid. I haven't met one person that was anything but pissed off. I realize I am in Texas. And folks are slow to spook down here. But I cant imagine that it is any different up north.

Thats why real texans carry guns.
A real texan wouldve beaten that civic to the draw.
Go back to Alabama ;)
(j/k)
Good to hear you ok. I wouldve grabbed my car and chased the MFkr till he stopped and then beat the crap outta him.
-
Yeah..I would have Tac. :D But being 16, I have no access to a gun...<G>
-
Hey tac. I wonder how many of the folks that were pointing a finger at Texas's concealed carry law. Wish They had it now.
-
Always run at right angles to zero vector closing objects.
p.s. I doubt that was a Texan driving a Honda, probably some California import.

Tex, yer first clue..
HONDA
Next, you surrendered your weapon prematurely. You shoulda launched that cart right at him, waited for his evasive, then jumped in the opposite direction.
Finally, use the buddy system for cart recovery. Have a pal on guard with a bazooka, let no forigen automobiles exit the lot without rocket assistance in the future.
;)
Glad yer ok, son. :)

one of those moments you wich you had an assault rifle...
-
LMAO Hang..that made my day! :D I need to tell them that. We must keep bazookas and a ammo crate in the store room. ;) I would have done that with the cart, it worked before, but I was scared for my life and wasn't thinking straight.
-
hey texace....you live in the Fort Worth area? Just curious....the Jacksboro highway reference made me wonder.
-
I have a feeling that it was a female, texan driver. I’ve been hit 3 times by a car and all of those times some stupid blond squeak was driving. :( . When ever you see female driver just use bazooka buddy system. Preferably use high explosives rounds. :)
-
Russian, its simple.
If they good looking feign to be *quite* injured. Then marry them.
And get a good insurance agent ;)
-
Sling, yes I live in Fort Worth. I My town in Lake Worth, a small town NW of Ft. Worth. We are just north, about 3 miles or so, from Carswell Field (NAS JRB)
Nope, it was a male, older, black hair....

heh - that's what we call a 'love-tap' in san francisco. you aren't really having fun til you start fencing each other with your "the-club" locking thingies
:D

They found him! After nearly a week, I saw the exact same car at the store. I got the license number down and waited. Yep, it was the same guy. I called my manager and the police. They found him at his house. At the station, they told me that yes he had hit something that day, but didn't know what it was. He tells me that he did not see me at all. They got him on speeding and a hit and run.
I am pleased now....
-
LOL...Glad your Ok. Had a 18 year old hit me at a Wal-Mart one time. # days later I was in the back of an Ambulance on an IV and getting my breathing and pulse started due to a concussion and overdose of Pain Pills. Only took one to.
It could have been worst and I hope they nail his ass. You think Lake Worth is bad? Move to Austin. Now THERE is a town of Idiot Drivers. ;)

Hey Texace,
Your highschool have a ROTC program?.. It's the way to go. Here in Hawaii you have to be at least a sophmore and have a B average. They do parades, dedicating veteran cemetaries that sort of thing it's fun you'll like it. Also its a good way to get into officers training school which is only 2 yrs away for you.
10Bears

Cool Texace...I lived in Saginaw for a couple of months when I first transferred back to Dallas from Houston. My girlfriends family still lives there.
-
Sounds like Texas drivers are very much like Danish ones.
Got (double) tapped when riding my bike, crossing green light. Guy looked down, straight into my face, not showing emotion, and then rode off.
I say: handguns to cyclists!
-
10Bears, no my high school does not offer a ROTC program. They are too cheap. They spend more money on the football team than the school itself. Meaning they get new helmets but we get no new books, or in my case, instraments. The Bullfrogs are undefeated so far, 6-0, and are playing Aledo tonight. I wanted a ROTC, but the school "couldn't affoed it" or some other stupid excuse.
Yes, some drivers out there don't care about pedestrians or bikers and whatnot. I was asked if I wanted to press charges on him, something about "criminal assault with a deady weapon" but I didn't. He didn't injure me too bad. But I will throttle him if I hurt so bad tonight I can't march....

now the real story ...
texace was pushing a string of shopping carts, 15, his personal best, back towards the store on a slight decline, when the front wheel on the lead cart hit a small pothole, stoppin his train cold, shoving the handle back into his solar plexus ... :)
sounds like a near personal experience of mine 25+ years ago one summer :)
glad you weren't seriously injured - next time fling the cart into the oncoming vehicle as you turn to run.
