I'm an Industrial Engineer. Does that make me an Engineer?
-
Do you have an engineering degree?
-
I have an N scale railroad set, can I be an engineer??
-
I get that on the phone all the time... some lab-coated pocket protector equipped poindexter responds to being chided for lack of common sense in his designs power requirements with "I'm an engineer..."
and my response is invariably: "Steam or Diesel?"

In Oregon one needs to pass the Professional Engineering examination to legally refer to himself as an engineer.

No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. :D

Here in Alabama you have to pass the PE exam and complete 4 years of something similar to an understudy to be considered a full fledged engineer.
Which reminds me; one of the guys I work with passed his PE last year and he is in sales but he approaches everything from the engineering side of the project and gets his bellybutton handed to him because he is always trying to make something more complicated instead of just seeing the simple way of working on an issue.

Ever since programmers got to call themselves "software engineers", anything goes.

According to my father there is three way for a CEO to have is enterprise under chapter 11 :
- girls (extremly pleasant)
- gambling (very fun)
- engineer (the more deadly and sure way to be under Chap 11)
and it's coming from an engineer .. like me ;)

I was a NASA engineer for a few days while visiting Los Vegas awhile back!
Does that qualify?

My business card says I am a "Senior Controls Engineer"
I haven't been to college. I don't have a piece of paper that says I know what I know.
To some companies, all that matters is the piece of paper. Fortunately, in the company I work for, knowledge and skill are all that matters.

Suppose your not looking for U.S. Army Combat Engineers then.......
-
I recently saw on a show about NASA that said the US puts out 60,000 engineers a year, where China and Japan put out a million or so.
Guess I better start figuring out what washes clothes better..hot or cold.

Do whites in Hot and colors in.... wait...err nevermind.
