Since folks who man ship guns can get credit for shooting down aircraft/vehicles, it would seem reciprical that when someone gets the kill ("Ship Destroyed"), they also are credited for the manned gunners they eliminated with the vessel.
Eye for an eye ;)
Maybe the same for manned ack elsewhere?

Sounds good to me. If the attacker must risk being KILLED by the gunner, then the gunner should risk being KILLED by the attacker.
-
I think this sounds great :aok

Thanks!
I asked my fellow squadmates about this last night. After a lot of "Hmmm's", they suggested I post it here.
I've always found it odd that someone mannnig a field gun could score points killing you, but not visa-versa.
I would like to elaborate my initial post a bit: If a person bombs a CV and takes out some manned guns, they get the "kill" credit for killing those who were manning them. As WELL as whatever remaining gunners are killed when someone finishes them off remaining gunners, etc.
I'm not sure I'm being very concise, but I think you guys follow.

Yes, it's been requested not too long ago. I myself requested it (and no doubt it was requested many times before me :) ). It is an idea whose time has been long awaited.

:aok from me.

You get points for manageing to hit a quad 20 equipped aircraft moving at 300 miles per hour? I think I've been getting rooked.
-
I don't think there's any scoring (points) or ranking related to gun emplacements. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking there is only a total of kills as a gunner.
Anyway, seems harmless enough, anything with a player manning/occupying that gets whacked scores as a kill. No more gunners getting credit for catching a rocket in the face. And of course, the more sinister reason behind my supporting this; we could use this as a rationale to reward chute killers. Brilliant!

There is no credit for any kills in a bomber, and I believe you already get the object destruction points tallied when sinking the cv. You get your name in lights for 'victories' (those would be virtual, virtual kills??), but no credit is awarded or tallied in any way for victories in bombers.

If in a Gun Ship or Field Gun you do not wat so ever get any Perks, just a heap of kills :D
-
I too think this is looooooong over due!!!!!!!!!! :aok
And no, I have never gotten perks for killing a plane/GV in a gun emplacement. :cry
-
Me and my sweetheart Kate, love to crack hulls in half.
Take a few with us would be sauce for the goose
-
No points of any kind are recieved for field guns or ship guns.
( I found that odd when it was introduced, but never got around to asking why)
-
I definately support the idea...Technically the gunners are not on pavement so at best shouldnt they all be getting ditches =)

I say you get creadit for every sailor. So what .. 2000-3000 kills? Let's see the score potatos trip over themselves to sink CV's for kill stats:lol
I agree, credit for killing the manned gunner would me nice.
-
I agree also!
-
I'd like to see kills awarded on gunners when their ship dies too. Going a little further, how about if the gunners from a sunk ship were put into lifeboats afterwards? They would have the option to immediately exit from the lifeboat and get a ditch, but with no kills awarded to them. Or alternatively, if they survive the attentions of strafing fighters or fleet gunners for say 3 minutes they get to land their kills. :t
-
I think you should get huge perks for sinking ships with a tank. At least a couple of thousand. Maybe 500 for each gun destroyed with tank fire. Same for when you kill a plane with the main tank gun. Much harder than strafeing down a 5" armored gun battery with a LA7. :D
-
What about the SB?? I have sunk the CV and gotten kills in the SB, but not a single perk! You tell me, is that right??? I don't think so. No matter what you're in, if you get kills, you should get perks for it. I'm sure that more people think this way than posts on the forums.

Gato, you must understand that 20 planes shooting guys before they can get their engine started takes much more skill and are therefore rewarded for their combat skills.

Try sinking a CV from the SB. That takes skill too.

if bomb a CV with a B-24 formation and sink it the bombs would destroy the guns thus giving you credit for any 1 manning them

What about when ship guns shoot down planes or PTs, or whatever? There is no credit for that either, other than your name in lights if you get 2 or more. It all ties together. Kills should equal perks, no matter what you're in. When CV /cruiser guns take out another CV or a town, there are no perks there either. When a plane takes a town down, there are perks. I know there MUST be a reason, but I just don't know it.
-
OK, OK someone clear this up for me.
By "credit" are you refering to the name in lights thing or perks, points a gold medal or what?
I`ve never understood the gold rush for perks thing. If you play even casualy you are going to have more perks than you can use.

Name for me a "perk gun" you can man, and then we can award perks for kills from a ships gun. Of course, then we will need a penalty for death in a gun, hence no more names in lights every time. Then we will need a category for "guns" as we have for fighters, vehicles and bombers to keep those perks separate. We would also need a separate scoreing category for "guns" like we do Fighters, Attack and Bombers. Then we will have complaints about the "score potatos" who camp in shore batteries while their shades account with rank 0 (because they have never upped a plane) consistently take control of fleets and drive them past said camped shore batteries.

Some of what you said, I agree with, but not all. "perk guns", yeah right! :lol
But the idea of a gunnery category has been brought up before. And I think it is a good idea as you not only have CV guns, but the SB, field guns and gunner/ observer. As for the perks, well the only idea I have for that is to spead them equally in the other categories. As they all deal with accuracy and "hit percentage".
As for getting killed while in a gun, I think the setting now are wrong. If a fighter takes out a manned gun, they should be credited with it, if a gunner takes out a manned gun, they too should get credit for it. A kill is a kill is a kill!
If you are in a manned gun on the CV and you are "killed", I don't see any reason you should "land" your kills, you died, you didn't land them.
