picked up a SW ff pro from a guy who didn't know it was gameport only. only problem is i don't have all the software for it. everything works perfect but the FF function. the only software i can find online is for win. 95/98 and won't work. I NEED A CONTROL PANEL. if anyone can help....thanks in advance

WinXP has a something calld Sidewinder Auto-Detect in the contol panel under game controllers. That is the only thing available that i know of.

Buzkill, what you got is the 1st version of the sidewinder FF.
if you are using XP you dont need any software for it to work , but you wont have the tweeks for force strenght (i think) or the the mapping in windows, but you should need it.
I have/had both version 1(gameport) and 2 (USB) the Version 2 is way way way better, optical pods, and you wont get the "dont move your stick so fast" in the game

To get the gameport version to work in Win XP you will have to download the drivers from CH. The FF will not work, but it will recognize all the buttons and be fully functional as a joystick. The only way to get the FF to work is to run it under Win 98.

thanks...the stick is fully functional(all buttons, movement) the only thing i don't have is FF. it's not really important. the control i have with it is so much better than any other stick i've used (logitec crap) that i don't care about FF

Thats what I figured too. I bought one for 15 bucks for a backup, and I've really considered just replacing my current Flightstick Pro with the FF stick just because I like the feel of it even better. It also has more buttons lol.

SOA,
I believe he said it was a Microsoft SW FF.

don't move stick so rapidly? havn't seen AH say that for 5 years:cool:

In AH2, go to Controls, click on Joystick, then Force Feedback. You can activate FF and regulate it on that menu. It works for a USB MSFFPro, so it might work for a game port version too.
But I turned it off anyway. AH doesn't need it, and it feels much stronger in AH than I remember in AW for example. Also, the stick will last a whole lot longer with the FF off.

it's a first model gameport FFpro.....not supported by xp, there is no software out there to make the FF work.

got it to work with xp.....without software:aok
