Silly American League... Where over the hill people who can't field can still make millions swinging a bat 3-5 times a game. :p
-
Wake me next time the NL wins a World Series. :p
-
wake me when someone other than the Yanks wins the AL. :p

Mariners just realized regular season means jack in playoffs
Time for the rest of the world to realize that there is a reason that the playoffs are a "series" and not just one game.

Always love that argument from National League fans...the league that plays on plastic fields in cookie cutter stadiums. The league that allows INCOMPETENT batters to hit. Yes, if the pitchers actually worked at their batting skills I would be all in favor of losing the DH. But most pitchers won't do it and so I would rather watch a decent batter at the plate than a flailing pitcher.
A's take this one in 4 and then it's time to smite Seatle for making our 100+ win season second best..

You mean the league that didn't change the rules of the game to make it easier. :p The DH does nothing but remove an aspect of decision making from the manager. You're down 1-0, your guy's pitching great, but you've got runners in scoring position with two out and the #9 batter is up... AL managers don't even have to blink, but NL managers have a huge decision to make.
you want to watch hitters, I want to watch strategy. :)

*if* (Big IF) Mariners lose tonight, than I will probably get worried. If not, we'll see!
In an off-topic subject, you know why so many of us are sad to see Cal Ripken go? He represents baseball as a few of us 'older guys' remember it, no free-agency, dedication to one team, and its goals and not to the almighty $$. He represents class, not some smack-talking guy that just hit a homerun off a pitcher and has to look at the pitcher and mouth off. He represents America, what it was, not what it is today. God Bless you Cal, you were the greatest.
-
Nifty, what if the guy is pitching so-so, or your team is trailing by a larger margin? Then it's a no-brainer decision to pinch-hit. On the other hand, the AL manager in that case has a real decision to make. He actually has to decide whether the guy should be taken out or not. His pitching moves are pure strategy, not dictated to him by the batting order. I submit that this case happens vastly more often than the case you describe. And it is a myth that there is more strategy in the NL. Enjoy. :)

Touché. Though if you're losing by more than a few runs (discounting errors) you should be pulling your pitcher regardless of if you've got runners on with the pitcher coming up to hit (unless your bullpen sucks).
Anyways, it's all personal preference, and my preference is I don't like the DH rule. Your league still changed the rules. :p

Do the MAriners play football or baseball.
17 - 2?
Sounds like a football score to me.
Bye-bye Mariners.
Go CUBS. :)

17 runs.
17?
Yup, 17.
-
Yup.. 17.. scored in every inning except 1.
Fricking amazing.

Jermaine Dye broke his leg on a foul tip. He's out for the rest of the season. That's going to hurt the A's bigtime.
Looks like Monday will be the day of 1 game playoff series.
I'll stand by my prediction: All west coast AL finals :D

Yankee, Ok so I'm no baseball prognosticator. But on the other hand, it ain't over til the fat dame exercises her vocal chords. Mulder is chucking tomorrow and Roger Clemens has got plenty of bad history with the A's and a tender hamstring. We can still do the deed. Be even sweeter if we take in right in your own backyard.. :)
