Where are all the bish at?
It seems that every time I log on lately the bish are taking a beating. I know, as a whole, don't do the team work thing very well but come on. This down right insane. We are almost seeing a new map every day.
Last I logged on there were 140 bish and 280 rook on. The nits had more guys also but at least within reason.
:cry
-
it's a vicious cycle, at times us bish have more, others nits, and it's the rooks turn right now. It also doesn't help that 3 squads left the bish and went rook.
-
I know the JBs left but who else?
-
Rowdy Rebels and Angry Ich
-
Actually (not being a "regular" Bish....) I saw lots of coordinated effort from Bish lately. Pretty good one as well.
As for the numbers..... think of it as target rich enviroment. Next month itll hit Knits or Rook.
-
Brokeback Mountain is in theaters
and Teletubies on tv
thats where
-
The Bish been out numbered heavely the last two weeks....This past friday there were 270 rooks on and 190 knits on and 135 bish.....heres the kicker...the rooks and knits are all fighting bish...makes no sense to me...rooks are the stronger team by numbers...and knits..cant beat bish unless they are tag teaming bish with rooks.
I dont see the fun in taking bases when bish are so outnumbered...but rooks think they are good cause they bang bish...and knits can't win unless they are banging bish also!!
Any of you knits think you could fight rooks and take some of their base..and maybe win the war foe once...instead of being in second place all the time! you knits afraid of rooks??? I think so!!
Pound for pound bish are the best....sure does take a long time to reset the map with that many people on line.....so next time I hear rooks or knits say how good the are...remember the numbers...how we are almost always way out numbered.
Too the rooks....if there was any way to have a fair fight as far as numbers go you all would go down hard...cause without numbers you all suck!!!! AMEN!!!!!!
-
Wait 'till the shoe is on the other foot.
No matter who has MORE ... the one with the LEAST will ALWAYS get beat upon by the other 2 ... it's a race for the "RESET".
All counties are guilting of trying to smash the weakest country to try and get the reset ... its just the way of life in the MA.
Pound for pound bish are the best....
Bullcocky ... the best country is ALWAYS the one with numbers (including the Bishchits) ... don't kid yourself.
-
I remember a time when the situation for the rooks was just as bleak, if not worse. While it does suck to be facing the uberhordes, and this isn't the first time numbers have gotten terribly imbalanced, balance will eventually return. A few years ago, the bish often had numbers, and the cries of the underdogs were largely mocked or ignored. While I won't say this is just desserts, it's something everyone has to tolerate for a while.
On the bright side, loads of easy perks, and cheap jets. Not enough to overcome the imbalance, but enough to keep me distracted til numbers began to even out. :aok
-
man....we had like 6 bases left and 262s were still 120 perkies!!
-
Agree with Slapshot, the 2 sides with most players will race for reset no matter who gets the perkies.
Dunno if its nostalgia or what but I seem to remember when the 2nd place country would sometimes at least try to intervene and snatch it from whoever was winning - now its all path of least resistance, follow the herd while excusing it with 'well I dont really like this map'.
Bish are particularly blind to strat at the moment though, no matter how many are on.

My jet was 105. Compared to the ~300 it would have been had I stayed rookknit, I consider that a bargain. Killed 5 bombers and a fighter before getting dumped by the map reset. Woot!

with 6 bases left the should be free lolol I wish!!!

Everyone spends their time in the bucket. Bish at least have the benefit of the ENY modifier to ease the pain (those in the bucket of the past did not). How long you spend in the bucket will be largely determined by the perception of how well you cope with and adapt to the adverse situation. If all you do is cry and piss n' moan without getting on the horse and adapting your style and tactics to the inclimate situation then Bish will be in the bucket a very LONG time.
People want to see a country prevail or at least find ways to mitigate the pain thru adversity, this will attract players to your cause (and stem the exodus of those wanting to leave). There are alot of players who are attracted to the underdog situation and may be willing to help you, but you first have to prove that you, as a country, are deserving of their help, otherwise they'll simply stay Bish/Knights with their friends and beat the living crap out of you until the end of time. How you, as a country, deal with adversity, especially of the protracted variety, says alot about your character's individually. Seek to inspire others to join your cause with your individual and collective efforts. Pissin' and moanin' on 200 and this BBS constantly is NOT inspiring people to aid you in your plight.

Sounds to me like an improvement to the perks caluclation is in order.

If you look at the average of the situation, you find that the Knights are most often outnumbered by one or both countries. Currently, usually both outnumber us individually. Very seldom do we have more numbers than both the Bishops or the Rooks and then only by a small margin of maybe 10 pilots. The difference in numbers is smaller between the Bishops and the Knights than it is between either of those two countries and the Rooks. Right now the Rooks often outnumber the Knights by 30 to 50 pilots.
Rooks have been winning the reset recently and that attracts “fair weather pilots”. There are those who go to the underdog side, but I think the reset junkies outnumber them by a good deal.
In AH1 the numbers didn’t count as much as they do in AH2. I believe this is because the fields are so much closer to each other on all the maps in AH2. In AH1 there was only one small map that had this close proximity of fields. The rest were decently spread. So now they’re closer, the fuel multiplier is 2.0 (up from 1.5 of AH1) and numbers have become more important. Unless the skill of the pilot is on par with say Ack-Ack, there really isn’t much that skill or strategy can do to offset the relentless number differential. The country with more pilots is going to win with rare exception. That country can simply keep pouring pilots into a given battle. Each pilot who dies is quickly replaced by one of his countrymen who just upped and indeed he himself is quickly back in the fight. He ups from a field that is so close it more often than not has a radar ring overlapping the attacked field’s radar ring.
Each country has the same complaints. “My team doesn’t work together”. “The other two countries gang up on us and ignore each other”. Bishops think Rooks and Knights have an agreement against Bishops. Knights wonder why Bishops aren’t hitting Rooks more. And so on and so forth.
I doubt adjusting perks or making perk planes more available to the underdog is going to do much to solve the problem. I believe the only answer that will have an impact is spacing out the fields more. It won’t deliver the same instant gratification of up and fight right away, but it will even things out to the point that it won’t be such a numbers driven contest. Strategy and skill will have a better chance of winning the reset.

What you think is profound thinking is nothing more than self serving blabber. Think about...you will find it to be true. While you are trying to make others believe that you are being philosophical and true to beleife, you are doing nothing but trying to Rub it in and piss others off. BTW..its not up for debate, rather its just the way you are.

Tell ya what Choppy..I am currently not working..I will do a screen shot of the MA roster every 2 hours for the next week starting right now. Lets see how it pans out. I will include the current time. However this means that you will have to trust me.

HT tried to fix it...I alk with the ENY thingy and to the contrary of what HT thinks..I really hasn't "Balanced sides" Nor has it actually balanced game play. I dont care what country is in question..it simply hasnt had the overall desired effect in game play as far as the "Majority" in the MA feels.
I would do an MA poll....but then again HT doesnt listen to polls. So Aces High is what it is and that will be that.

This is what I don't get ... people want to be on the winning side to get a free deposit of 25 perks in each category. Please ... go to the weakest side, up a Hurri II and you can get 25 perks in one sortie.
The other thing that most don't understand until it actually happens is ... you DONT' get any perk points unless you have been with the country for more than 6 hours ... you can't see that a reset is imminent, switch sides and expect to be awarded perk points ... it just doesn't work that way.
n AH1 the numbers didn’t count as much as they do in AH2. I believe this is because the fields are so much closer to each other on all the maps in AH2.
Sorry ... but I have to disagree. Numbers have ALWAYS been the bottom line determining factor ... AH I or AH II. In AH I, when the MAW flew on sqaud nights ... 30+ MAW would decent upon a field (just MAW mind you) ... very very rarely did we not get the capture ... and there wasn't a thing you could do about.
The difference between AH I and AH II is that AH I was all about comraderie, squad respect, and cooperation. Those traits have been lost, for the most part, in AH II ... that is the difference ... its has absolutly nothing to do with the distance between fields.
Leave the field spacing alone ... you want to play the "capture" game and be succesful ...

Geez, guy, chill. I tried to be honest and objective with my assessment of the numbers. I haven’t done a study such as you propose for yourself above. I’ve just looked at the numbers every time I log in. Also, I occasionally look at the roster during my game play.
I agree with you on the issue of balance attempts. They haven't worked. I do, however, think that HT listens to what we have to say. What all of us have to say. Just because we don’t always get what we want is a clear indication of that.
-
You know there is a real simple solution to the problem. First you would need a MOTD showing who won the last reset. If you knew who won the last reset you might be more inclined to fight them. You would have a rotating gang bang. That lasts a week instead of weeks or months.
-
Well Del. You could start by seeking professional help.

I strongly suspect it isn't all about the perks. There is a strong attraction to being on the side that wins. Just to be on the side that wins. Also, people see trends and switch countries accordingly. By the way, I thought it was 12 hours and not 6.
My observations on the numbers stand. While it has always been numbers driven to some extent, this effect is enhanced in AH2 because of the closer spacing of the fields.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you are taking this WAYYYY too seriously. It's a game, it's cyclical, the only constant is change. I realize being un-employed you are likely devoting a giant chunk of your unusually substantial free-time to playing AH (as is evidenced by your hours played), that has an amplifying effect on your perception of the significance of the game far beyond what it should in a normal human life. That being said the one truth of the Bish plight is this....
The length of time Bish spend in the bucket during this point in the cycle of fluxing balance is directly proportional to how they cope, re-act, act, behave and adapt to it. The more lil' chickens that keep screaming, "The sky is falling", rather than just calmly and deliberately doing everything they can to turn things around for Bish the longer Bish will remain sucking hind teet.

Thats what blows my mind and confuses me ... what self-gratification would one get when switching to the side that will get the reset ... 10, 15, 30 minutes before the event. You can switch countries now every 6 hours ... with that, after 6 hours you are cool for reset perks.
While it has always been numbers driven to some extent, this effect is enhanced in AH2 because of the closer spacing of the fields.
Bah ... its just take them 5 to 10 minutes less in flight time to put the gang-bangin' on them ... fields close or far stand no chance against superior numbers ... simple as that. Closer fields just make it happen quicker ... less pain.

I don't agree on this. I don't think it's related to complaint level. Rather I believe it's related to who's got the trend for win or lose. Rooks winning more recently? They get a shift in numbers that helps support that. Similarly, Bish get stomped more recently? Corresponding shift. Recently, the Bish do occasionally win a reset, the Rooks often and the Knights.......well it's been awhile.

Because it's different strokes for different folks. You or I don't get it, but others do and they act accordingly.

While what you say is true regarding flight times and the superiority of numbers, your conclusion is off. It does, as you state, happen quicker and with less pain. Less pain for the attacker as well.
What I said was that these things are enhanced by closer spacing of the fields. Yes, larger numbers will prevail. However, it happens so quickly that it is difficult to get a response up before the field is overwhelmed and taken. Strategy becomes less important and sheer numbers become sufficient.
In addition to the closer spaced fields the fuel strat situation has exacerbated the situation. In AH1 a field might be knocked down to 25% fuel available. Now it cannot be lowered more than 75%. Closer field proximity and the guarantee of at least 75% fuel and usually more than that because people don’t strat for fuel anymore. Might as well make the fuel bunkers invulnerable. Doesn’t do anything to bring them down.

But what most don't realize is that with the closer spacing of fields ... when the horde moves on to the next target ... they usually forget about the field that they just took cause they are myopic in nature ... that field can be re-taken back very quickly due to the closer spacing of fields ... that was the intent of the design ... the flaw, again, is human in failed cooperation and realization.

Bottom line here is fun ... For some tard(s) to be able to take out all the fuel within a 50-100 mile radius SUCKED for all ... this was the best decision ever made. I don't want to play and pay to be limited to being able to fly 1/2 sector ... I want to mix it up ... regardless of plane type ... just give me the ability to get up and get into it. Also, this allows those that are being spanked the ability to get into the air and try to stem the tide.
You want to stop the horde ... take out the troops ... nothing better than that. This does not limit anyones ability to fly ... just capture.

That could be true if most played with single-minded interest in the reset and the perks that go with it. Most do not. Most play to have fun and fight. Most people, and definately the most impactful players, have tens of thousands of perks stored, reset perks or resets in general is not a motivating factor when choosing team affiliation. What is a determining factor is how much they enjoy playing with a team, how much pissin' and moanin' that team does on their country channel, and how that team copes with unfavorable circumstances...I know from personal experience just a few constant whiners on country channel can sour the whole experience of AH for the entire team, day after day. I'm guessing there are more than a few country channel whiners on Bish right now judging by how much moaning there is on channel 200. That incessant moaning has a deleterious affect on country morale and will definately not entice people to play for that team regardless of the circumstances and resets.

Rooks started being effective of late for a reason other than numerical superiority. Once that began it does appear others have piled on. Much of the actual base capture is still being done by the same bunch of people as before, though.

Most 'fair weather flyer' country switchers are noobs, not affiliated with a squadron and of very little value in terms of combat efficiency...One grizzled old vet is worth 10+ of these country jumping noobs. To these noobs the reset reward of 25 perks is a substantial incentive to abandon their beleaugered country. To a grizzled old vet this reward is meaningless and no incentive whatsoever...

This is the thinking of someone who isn’t into the strategy of the game. Someone who doesn’t want strategy to effect their “fun”. Fun being defined as furballing. If you wish to change the game from strategy to the more immediate gratification of furballing, then by all means support the current fuel situation.
Troops are, as you wrote, definitely part of the strategy. However, there are many who feel it inconvenient and an imposition on their fun to eliminate them. Therefore, by your way of thinking that should be restricted as well. And what about ordnance. Surely we shouldn’t be able to take down the ordnance in fields over a wide area. How about we make troops and ordnance pop up after say 15 minutes? That would prevent your “tards” from ruining other peoples fun.

I don't have a problem with your reasoning as to whiners not being an attractive team. My position is that it is not the driving or predominant force in the numbers distribution. I don't think most people care that much about the number of perks they get from a reset, although it is nice. Rather I think the largest attraction is being on the winning side. Not for the perks, but simply to be on the side that's winning. It's a nice feeling. You're with a bunch of guys that are stomping keester and that's fun. Maybe makes you feel like you're part of an elite outfit. That sort of thinking.

Partially my point. I agree.

I think most want to be on the side having fun, could be one team, could be all three. Personally, and I know most 'vets', prefer to be outnumbered rather than to be steamrolling...steamrolling really isn't very fun, no good fights, fighting teammates over the same chicken bone and nothing but milkrunning. Being 'defensive' can be very fun, this is my point. Just because you're getting beaten on a particular map on a particular day doesn't mean your team needs to cry, "The sky is falling" and give up on having fun.
The secret to having fun is to adapt to the circumstances, you can't fight the same way when on the defensive as you do when you're on the offensive. Alot of this angst over these temporary fluxes in balance are a product of people failing to adapt making their team collectively miserable, which in turn drives existing team mates away and keeps a possible influx of new teammates that enjoy the underdog role from coming and staying to help...So, a combination of positive attitude and adaptation more than any other factors will shorten the time Bish or any team is in the balance flux poop-hole.

Your points are well taken. It is obviously a combination or things that drive the direction in which the numbers flow. Personally, I like staying where I am. Besides, whichever team you go to, it's the same news. Cyclic.

People, like objects, tend to stay at rest unless acted upon by a force. Don't give people a reason/excuse to leave your country, and give people who enjoy the underdog game a reason to come try your country. Whining and pissn' n' moanin' does not accomplish this.. Adapatation and having fun no matter what the circumstances will accomplish this. It's a proven fact.

As before, I agree with you save on what the predominant driving force is for the numbers flow. Yes, your points are well taken and I agree. However, I still believe the greater drive in numbers flowing from one country/team to the other is due to some people simply wanting to be on the winning side.

Have one question.
Does server automatically assign new players to Bish, or it is random process?
May be I am wrong but it seems that Bishs are less experienced pilots than Knights in average (I am flying for Rooks so can say nothing about Rooks).
-
FWIW, I'd support some changes in perkage or ENY or field operations or whatever if it meant that a side that's down by 50 players had a reason to take off. It is no fun to log in and see you're down to 10 fields and 7 of them are being vultched already.
But ...
Any kinds of changes would need to also address the ways people are currently "coping" with being outnumbered. Endless pork-running. Spying on missions with shade accounts. Deliberate ramming.
The level of idiocy is reaching epic proportions.

HiTech posted on this issue a few years ago. It's not random, it's determined by HTC. They determne which country new players are sent to depending on numerical factors they have available. I didn't go looking for the ancient post, this is what I recall HiTech saying, maybe he can come in and clarify if this is incorrect...But, in any event new players are not always sent to Bish, my wife's account defaulted to Knights, and my Zazen account defaulted to Rooks, both were outnumbered countries at the time of the subscription start.

I know what you mean about being discouraged by being outnumbered like that, but there are measures that can be taken.
If you're outnumbered how else can you effectively respond than by porking the opposition? It's part of how the game was designed. That's why they're called "strats", isn't it? Strategic targets?

Interesting... If I recall my lectures about automatic control systems well it should produce astable process with period of oscillations equals to the time of "become newbie an average pilot". Or half of that time, can't recall.

The barracks at one base in a realistic context are not "strategic." They're operational at best. In AH2, though, they end up having strategic effect as one lone goober in a Tiffy can more or less halt 20 or 30 people, and it's almost impossible to stop such a Kamikaze.
Lets not make it into more than it is - because people pork stuff regardless of the odds simply because they can. And because in many cases they suck so bad they can't do much else and the current design has given them a way to disrupt the activities of a lot of people through a virtually skill-less tactic.
There are many ways to respond to bad odds. And sometimes just taking an hour or so off is the way - wait for the map to reset so you won't be getting vultched everywhere. 25 perks is pretty trivial, as has been pointed out you can earn that in one or two flights defending the base in something like an La5.

I got 25 in a 109F-4 last night with the perk modifier at .79. I have never understood why 25 perks was such a huge motivator.

I'd rather be proactive than defeatist. If leaving the game to be won by the other team is the right way, I don’t want to be right. I’ll pork the other countries to the stone age to assist my side. I do it for effect, not to disturb others. Denigrate it all you want, it’s an effective tactic and strategy.
While people may pork for different reasons, it does not mean those targets that are porked don’t have strategic value. Call them what you will, barracks are in fact a strategic target the way this game is set up. We play in a virtual world and in this context the real world is a moot point.

The point is 'winning' for most people in the game isn't winning the resets. "Winning" for most people is enjoying good fights and having fun. Being on the defensive is far more conducive to 'winning thru fun-factor' than being on the steamrolling side.
Steamrolling = BIG YAWN....El Boringo
Defensive = Non-stop targets and non-stop action if you play accordingly.
Very few people actually switch sides. Check the roster next time a reset is near, I challenge you to find more than 5 people that switched just prior to reset. The more common thing is for people of the beleugered team to simply log-off, which further exacerbates the numerical disparity.

Well those are some damn nice rationalizations.
The ease of barracks and ordinance porking allows one unskilled player way, way too much influence on the flow of the arena. What cracks me up is to see enemy Tiffies and La7's pass right over unescorted bombers to go pork a field. Maybe instead of having 4 or 5 people out in space trying to suicide themselves onto a toolshed they could, like, you know, shoot at the enemy planes coming in instead.
-
32 Bish switched to Rooks in the last 7 days for sure. Two squads. They weren't having fun and blamed the Bishop for it. I cant say i blame them really...its just what they felt they needed to do and ill wish em well.
I agree about the switching sides just "Prior" to reset. But it really depends on your definition of "prior" A Hoard is seen for many hours prior to a reset and is easy to predict 3, 4 or even 5 hrs in advance. Ill bet your more wrong than you realize as far as side switching to be in the winning team. While your "Prior might be 1 hr...mine is more like 6hrs. From about early evening 4:00 PMish till about 10:00pm

What influence.. I think the balance is rather good in that respect. The attacking Hoard simply re-arms said goonage. This isnt even a lagitimate claim in the big picture sir. PS..i pork in the face of the Hoard and survive 99% of the time. No suicide tactic is required to get it done. Just good planning.

Oh I know it can be done - hell, I used to do the most amazing radar-runs Back In The Day.
But the vast majority of people porking stuff today do not survive the trip. Many auger, due to one kind of suckage or another. Any many seem to take more than one pass to kill a Port-a-Potty - and that second pass is where they usually get consumed.

Your point of view is idealistic. People play the way they play. It's got less to do with ideals and more to do with the more common denominators. For them being on the winning side is the fun part. It is simply human nature to like winning. It is a positive associative experience. They like being part of the “steam rolling” side. I think the trees are obscuring your view of the forest on this one and you’re not seeing the reality of the situation.
I’m not saying people are switching just prior to the reset in numbers, though there are those that do. What I’m saying is people are viewing the trends and seeing who is winning most lately and gradually the numbers build up on that side. It is not an instant “wow I’d better switch because x is going to win”. It is a “I’m tired seeing those other guys win all the time and I’m joining them”.

Then you advocate the elimination of strategic targets. Let's make ordnance and barracks invulnerable or let them pop back up after 15 minutes. Better yet, lets eliminate gv's and bombers altogether. Make it a fighter only game. While we're at it eliminate the ability to take bases. That just gets in the way of the fighter aircraft having a good time. It'll be one big furball for all and nothing but furball 24/7. Oh...wait a minute. That sounds like the Axis versus Allies I saw just recently. They had maybe up to 20 pilots on at one time. Most often it seemed to be half a dozen. I'm sure they had fun.
I fly bombers and I use them to do what needs to be done for my team to help us gain bases or to stop others from gaining ours. It isn't a suicide run. Anybody wants to come up and get me is going to get shot at and if they don't know what they're doing, they're meat on my table. When fighters pass me by it's because they're on their way to a specified target or responsibility. They by pass me to achieve their goal. Whatever it is. Not because they can't wait to pork some field, but because they're sticking to their assigned task and getting the job done. That's dedication to team. Not passion for porking just to pork.
Look up the definition of rationalization. My statements don’t meet the criteria set out in said definition and I find your condescension amusing.

Did I say that? Any of that? No.
Do these kinds of Intardnet tactics work on other boards?
There is a vast difference between 2 or 3 people launching bomber flights together, heading to an enemy field, and bombing base facilities ... and these same three people launching from where ever, dribbling their way over to that same base, avoiding any enemy planes on the way, even those about to hit a friendly base, not helping any friendly in trouble, reaching said enemy base and augering their pathetic hides into the nearest outhouse.
If you can't see the difference, then you have demonstrated why a side can stay on the butt-end of the MA for a long, long while.

Zazen could only dream of being as spot on as to "WHAT IS" as you are here. His ideals are nice and peachy they just are very unrealistic in the real world. You speaketh the truth and do it very clearly. I noticed that Tonight "Monday" night when Bish usually have the most players (Bout 40+) average more than Rooks or Nits that it was near dead even all night.. From about 6:00PM est till about 12:00PM est. At 3:57 am est. Tuesday Morning it is Bish=35 Knights=45 and Rooks=47. I think the point is reached where Bish will be mildly outnumbered all week Mon through Thur...and Fri thru Sunday they will be greatly outnumbered. Like last Sun night when Rooks had 12+ players more than Bish and 89 more than Knights. Something will have to happen big to change this trend. But have faith it will change .;)

I swapped over from a different ww2 flying game about 8 months ago.
There are no mannable tanks/acks/carriers/boats.
This game is one of the best ww2 games online out there and instead of whining about this and that. Take a step back take a few deep breaths pick your favourite plane, tank or standard issue PT boat and enjoy what you have.
The whole country setup isn't perfect but its down to the players to even out the sides if they feel one team is getting ganged unless HT introduces an even team balancer when everyone logs in ( im sure that would cause even more uproar than how it is now).
No doubt in the future with combat tour and new terrains, maps, a few more planes and vehicles it will develop into an even better game than it is at present.

Hello ... my name is Slapshot ... I am a furballer ... whew ... glad I got that out.
Taking out troops or gas accomplishs the same objective ... it can stop the horde dead in its tracks.
Allowing gas to be taken out is a double edged sword tho ... the horde can use that to stop defensive measures.
If fields were spaced farther apart, the horde could send out satelite groups to easily pork the underdog's gas. So, with that, you now have %25 fuel ... you will have enough to get to the fight, but you won't have enough to sustain the fight ... hence they roll over you like a steamroller.
Whereas, the horde could pork all the underdog's troops .... so what ... you don't need troops to fly and try fight off the horde ... unlike gas.
One other important note, which I think is the real reason as to why we have what we have ... without gas, you cannot fly ... and everybody pays to FLY, not sit in the tower ... HT recognized that and solutioned it.

First.....it's a game. Treat it as such.
Gang banged.........that happens to all 3 countries and the number of players per country has no effect. We have many players that look for the large green darbar and go there....hide in the horde....and like multiple sharks swimming around a single kill they safely pick up the scraps knowing full well their safety is assured by the number of countrymates they have at that base at that time. They are an annoyance....and basically skilless. They need the numbers to pad their score.
Scores? Who cares?
Bishops.....have many good pilots and some very good squads. Bishops also have the horde hiding weenies. Same as Rooks or Knights.
Being Bishop.....have been for seven years and plan on staying "Bish"
Those Squads who change sides for any reason. It's their money.
I look as Squad moving as somewhat being childish if it's to go with the popular side, the one who gets the most recent resets. Some Squads used to rotate on a regular basis. This is less frequent now.
I get my kills no matter what. So do my Bishop Squadmates in The Flying Circus. Whether outnumbered or not...we still get our share.
The only thing that irks me is dive bombing Lancasters. Suicide Porkers
And resets LOL like my friend Toad stated.....it's worthless. 25 Perks WoWeeeeeee. If it were a Hawiian Vacation it might mean something.
If ya need the Perks contact me I have seven years worth that I don't use.

Whats the best/fastest plane? Who's winning? Two most important questions in the minds of some.

Perhaps I just don't get it! Anybody who has flown in AH for any length of time has seen their country have it's time in the barrell. Why all the moaning now? I'm a Bish and it's just our turn as we've enjoyed being on the other end from time to time. I'm not saying that it's right, just saying that it's just the cycle of life in the game. Sometimes it does the soul good to be force fed some humble pie. I don't like the taste either and I've had to swallow it a few times in the past and the best defence for it is when it's just getting to the point that you can't up anywhere without being vulched, log off and play a quick game of a 1st person shooter and burn some of the frustration off for a while. We are a competetive society and we all like to win but every game has it's winners and it's loosers and we just gotta accept the fact that ya just can't be the winner all the time.

Indeed, if you backtrack through the BBS you'll find each country raising the same concerns at least once or twice.
The porking of troops/ord has a backlash effect for the defender too. If the map is within a couple of fields of reseting, porking prolongs the "every field is vultched" condition. For hours. And hours. I'm not saying abandon defense, but the way the system works now the "best defense" (porking) means staying stuck in a rotten situation longer. After a map reset a lot of the Horde will leave anway (hey, they got their perks, what else is there?).
And I am NOT saying that troops/ord shouldn't be destroyable - just that it should take more than a few bursts of 20mm to do it. Make it at least require a 500 pounder or two per outhouse. If porking is such a valuable way to help your team, at least make it require a little skill.

Yeah, I suspected you were a furballer. Nothing wrong with that. I understand it’s actually a part of the game these days.
Actually, I’ve been told by other furballers that 25% fuel is more than enough for them to up defensive fighters. Further, with 25% fuel a bomber can still get out to the enemy fields and other strats even when they’re spaced further apart. And of course fuel supply doesn’t touch the abilities of gv’s.
In AH1 all the maps save one had greater distancing between them. All the fields could be brought down to 25%. I never saw a situation where people couldn’t get into the air to fly and find a fight. I did, however, see a lot of complaint that they couldn’t get to where they wanted to be to pursue “steam rolling”. Closer fields and a minimum of 75% fuel has put greater emphasis on fighter aircraft. More emphasis on furballing and less on long term strategic planning. Other changes such as hardening HQ’s have contributed to this. It used to be that P-38’s could up in a mass and destroy an HQ. Now even a couple formations of Lancaster’s can’t do it. At least I can’t find anyone who’s been successful with them. The end result, though still a game I enjoy, is a game that is a bit more like checkers and a bit less like chess. We’ve gotten away from interesting situations like the Pizza Map. On that map you could have a wide variety of experiences. The perimeter offered the chance to have gv battles with very little in the way of interference from fighter aircraft. Battles that actually had the goal of taking territory rather than just hammering at each other to see how many kills you could get. There was, of course, tank town on some of the maps back then. However, even tank town was contested as a strategically desirable territory since the vehicle spawns to outside tank town were different than now.
HT recognized that a lot of players like to fly fighters and mix it up in same. He played to that crowd. They are, after all, the majority of players. The result is gratifying to the furball crowd and less interesting to others or even fighter pilots who like to do a bit of long range strategic thinking.

I agree. Every country has their time to get the stuffing beat out of them.
I’ve seen countries reduced to 9 fields and bounce back overnight on the same map. Sometimes they even have pulled it out of the fire to the extent they win the map. Guess they got some inertia going. Increased moral or whatever.
Yes, a lot of the “horde” will go away after a reset. They’ll also go away if they can’t get traction and make headway against a very stubborn defense. Has to do with frustration levels, attention spans and lack of more or less instant gratification.
Recently I watched a P-51 taking out ordnance at a field. Using just his guns. He actually got a few before he was chopped up by the ack. Fifty caliber weapons taking out what is presumably the representation of a concrete bunker. Now I believe the .50 cal to be a heck of a nice weapon, but taking out a concrete bunker?! Common! Currently I strat by dropping a salvo of 500 lb. bombs on them. Troops, radar and ordnance. I too think it should take a bit more than a couple bursts of 20mm cannon, powerful as that gun is. In the end, it’s what we’ve got though. I try to work with what I/we have to form strategy. That’s harder than it used to be.

Your 2 cents has left out inflation. Never ever in 5+ yrs i have been here has another country outnumbered one of the others by the 50% to even to 57% we seen this entire weekend Fri-Sun. Rooks at 274 Bish at 120. I do agree that it is indeed cyclic. I also know that is is growing farther out of whack with each cycle percentage wise. And on a 256x256 Map and a 58% advantage...Well...there really isn't much way to Up from an un capped base is there? Bish had 4 bases left for the last 3 hrs before reset. A17 A16 A12 and A15. All 4 bases at one point for about 40 mins was Vulched. Hardly a way to fight back. These clowns that try to get us to "See the brighter side" are out of control. (Not talking about you Doc1) Some have "Switched to the funer side" about 40 last count, Not including the JBs who were temporary Bish. JB's was fun. Plan on being in the barrel for about another 6 months or more. Because this is what will happen baring something that will turn it around faster than normal. And Normal is much much more severe than it has been in the past. Anyone that flies Bish know that ingame I dont spend time whining to the Bish about how bad we are outnumbered and such. I try to pull us together as a country. But here on the BBS i am simply stating what "IS" and this has no reflection on my approach on how to fight back against the high odds. There is always a way. But getting as many as it would take to fight back "Smarter" is a horse of a different color. When numbers are this far out of kilter guys are just to overwhelmed to belive that it can be done. And they dont want to be patient enough to wait in a tower for even 10 mins to get our forces pulled together and organized. Its a "Cant see the forest for the trees" type thing. And it is very understandable. It will change..but "IF" and i say "IF" something different than the normal doesn't happen soon you will see this drag out for at least another 6 months. I will continue to try to come up with ways and suggestions to fellow countrymen to make it change faster but i really wonder how well its going to play out. Not that i think "I" am the one who knows what it will take but "I" am willing to try to get Bish thinking new angles and ideas aside from the rut we have fallen into.
Thats my last voice on the issue here in the BBS. Good luck Bish

Well, I switched to Bish (yes I took 10 showers already) last night to help, since their numbers were low. I think I might have figured out why people don't fly Bish. Range chanel. OMFG!!!!zzz111. The play by blay is unbelivable. Check it check it check it check it check it ia all you hear in between the play by play of how they killed someone. My head phones cought on fire :rofl :O

That's entirely possible. Being one that never switches countries and finds good/frequent fights far more fun than steamrolling I suppose I could have a biased viewpoint. Most of the people I play/talk with are old grizzled vets like myself and think likewise. To a newer, less established player I suppose the perceived 'success' in terms of base-counts and resets could seem very important in choosing country affiliation. For us old vets it's all about friendships, comraderie and adapting your fighting style to suit the situation, which is half the fun of the game once you've mastered the basics. That is opposed to those that choose to change their situation via country jumping to suit their inflexible style, which is what you are suggesting people tend to do...
I have no doubt of the existence of 'fair weather flyers' who do tend to change, over time, to countries that are on the upswing in the balance flux. I also suggest that those people who do that are of little use relative to those who stay put and persevere at a disadvantage. Those that jump to have advantage are doing so because they are failing to adapt, those that cannot adapt readily are of little value in terms of combat effectiveness. So, I suppose if you look at it from strictly a raw numbers perspective their jumping to gain advantage seems significant, but what it is really doing is diluting the talent pool of the advantaged team and enhancing the concentration of dedicated talent on the disadvantaged team...

We're not that far out of agreement then.
A concrete bunker going down to .50 cal fire is no less realistic than an aircraft carrier being sunk by 20mm fire. Which is to say: not very.
I routinely see heavy and medium bombers working in groups of 2 or 3 flights, often with one or two escorts. And they pork bases just fine, and I have no problem with that whatsoever. That's how it should be happening.
It's the solo dribbler who will overfly incoming attacks - which he could delay or stop - and defer helping friendlies simply to get his moment of glory as he porks a base and disrupts the play of 20 or 30 other players. Just to be clear, my problems with pork-runners are that:
1) It reduces the importance of bombers. A20's and B26's and Mosi's and Sturmi's should be the tools of choice for tactical base attacks, how often do you see these planes anywhere in the MA? Most of the action Sturmi's get is as base defenders when FH go down.
2) It keeps a lot of players from actually learning how to fly and fight. They are contributing to the team, but they will suck at the game for a long, long while if this is all they do.
3) It gives one person too much power to disrupt the flow of play for many others. Same reason HQ's were made tougher, so one lone Lanc flight couldn't take out country-wide radar. One lone Tiffy shouldn't be able to cripple base capture along an enture front.
4) It is virtually impossible to stop a Kamikaze - always has been - any time you have something on the food chain with no natural enemy, it will be exploited - as it is being done now.
As for turning the tide, yeah. The Bish put up a great defense at A15 on Sunday - but we ended up diverting to another field and that's what led to the reset. I know the Rooks were pushed back pretty far on one of the big maps a week or so ago, and we ended up winning the map after a lot of work, much of it without any sizeable numbers edge. So it can be done.
I'm really kind of surpised the odds have swung so heavily. I fly with the same bunch I usually do, so I really don't pay much attention to what's going on elsewhere. But when looking at the roster this weekend it became clear that either people are moving or people are standing down or both.
-
My observations on the numbers stand. While it has always been numbers driven to some extent, this effect is enhanced in AH2 because of the closer spacing of the fields.
Closer fields have nothing to do with country numbers.
The biggest horde wins all the time. Closer bases actually helps to deter the Horde.
If a field is being attacked by the horde and I can up from half a sector away I can defend that field in time. And I don't mind getting gang banged since it is a short flight.
If my supporting field is a sector or more away I will not get to the horded field in time and who wants to fly all that way to get gang raped by the horde. So there is no point in trying to defend the base by upping from another field.
Your observations are wrong Beet1e, I mean Chopsaw.

I agree completely, Zazen.
I've only played 2 years, and the grizzling in my beard is because I'm old (44, but to a 16 year old...) not because I'm esperienced.
I think the base capture thing may be personality style (i.e. liking team vs individual sports), but I think even more that its part of the natural evolution of player development. Where once I had to up in buffs on milk runs to land at all, I later could kill attackers and would go closer to the action, and now I might fly into a furball jsut for the fun of it. At first< i couldnt surive in a sector with less than 2:1 friendly advantage, and now I'll deliberately swoop in and out of a horde of low enemies by myself.
And, honestly, once you've seeen the circle of AH life a few hundred times, it loses its attraction. Resets arent that exciting after 2 years, and 25 perks might be 3 sorties' work with a high eny plane.
I mean, how often do you keep playing tic-tac-toe after you've seen how it comes out?
I'd suggest that "working together on the winning side" is often less a matter of liking teamwork and more a matter of finding a way to feel like the player is succeeding when they're having trouble winning air to air fights alone.
If you really like winning aginast a challenge, try taking the LOW side and overwhelming the numerically superior with teamwork!!

I don't necessarily agree with that. Plenty of resets have been won during periods of relative numerical parity to prove that this is at least partly untrue. All things being equal, the most tightly ogranized team able to concentrate talent at the correct strategic points at the correct time wins resets. All numbers do is make it more likely success can be achieved without having talent concentrated, being organized or focussing that talent properly. Less numbers mean that for success to be achieved a higher degree of focussed effort, organization and talent will have to be applied at the correct time and place.
It's easier to comprehend what this means if looking at it microcosmically.
Take a 10 vs 10 furball between team a and team b. If team a has 2 skilled vets; 3 average players; 5 complete noobs and team b has 7 skilled vets; 2 average players and 1 complete noob. Well, you can safely predict that while numbers are perfectly equal success will go to team b, all other factors being equal, every-time.
Now suppose there's a 12 vs 9 furball between team a and b, this is roughly the ratio of numerical disparity teams can have in the MA before the ENY kicks in. Let's say team a has 2 skilled vets; 3 average players and 6 complete noobs. Team b has 6 skilled vets; 2 average players and 1 complete noob. This fight would be a win for team b most, if not every-time despite being at a significant numerical disadvantage.
The point is, absolute numbers are not the end-all be-all deciding factor of outcomes in the MA. Relative skill and its timely and prudent application is far more important imho than raw numbers. I would rather be in a contentious furball with 5 grizzled old war dogs than 8 complete noobs everytime, anytime, anywhere. Comparing sheer numbers only works as a measuring stick if we are all cookie cutter copies of each other, equally talented and equally distributed throughout the 3 countries, which is absolutely not the case...

That usualy ends up being a hord. I think by hord Mars did not mean numbers but actually hording fields one after another. The country with the smallest numbers if organized, could easyly hord 1 field after another. Not very possible when they are down to 5 fields, but at the beginning of a new map, they can easylly do it.

Dude the numbers/Horde rule base capture. Numbers/horde rule map reset. Of course flying for the Rooks all the time you wouldn't know any better since for the majority of the time you are usually always flying with the numbers. :D

If the other country let them, which is highly unlikely - unless you were on a map like pizza :D As soon as the other country starts to defend they will have the numbers to overwhelm.
Even the best vets faced with the horde are going to eventually get smacked down. It happens every night.

If a country dedicates the bulk of their force to dominoe horde one base after another in succession they will likely lose 3 undefended bases to a smaller, yet more efficient application of force by the enemy elsewhere...This is basic economy of force military dogma, it is impractical and unwise to use 3 times the force required to accomplish an objective, especially in a linear game like AH (no one base is of greater intrinsic strategic value to another) when that means you stand to lose 3 bases to every one taken in doing so. If dominoe hording is successful in AH it is only because the defending team is not taking proper advantage of the enemy's foolish lack of efficient economy of force.

As a member of one of the squads that recently switched from Bish to Rook, thought I should throw something out . . .
I think it was mentioned early in the thread that the two sides with numbers / momentum / whatever you call it tend to gang up on the smaller side. Whether true or not, it is the perception of the side getting creamed that the other two countries just are not fighting each other.
My squad occasionally switches sides and fights the other non-Bish country. In a perverse way, we are doing what we can to try to pull some of the pressure off of the Bish line. So as a Rook, maybe by pushing into Knit territory some of the Knits will get off of the Bish line to defend, and maybe some of the Rooks will perceive momentum in a non-Bish sector and go there rather than follow the horde.
I should point out that every time the squad has done this while I have been a member, it has caused instant tension within the squad as several members simply refuse to leave Bishops. Some believe it helps, some think it makes no difference, and to be honest, I really don't know if it does or not. In the end, those who switch have always gone back after it seemed the fighting was more evenly spread out.
I may very well get killed by my squad mates for letting this out here "in public", but I also don't want to be thought of as a "fair weather flyer". I am not good enough or on often enough for anyone to notice who or where I am, so I suppose I am really more concerned with how my squadies are perceived. They are a great bunch of guys, do the best they can to help out where they can. Also die-hard Bishops at heart, even if temporarily flying Rook.

Funny how your dogma doesn't relate to the MA. And you are assuming that the hording country doesn't have enough people to defend your little weaker attack on the hording country.
In the MA each countries horde attacks undefended bases. At the same time people who hate flying with the horde go and look for bases to defend, thus putting your small uber attack force out of business.
Your premise is all wrong.

Very ture. Only this is not a millitary operation. The enemy is not going to organize and attack 3 other bases just because a base is being horded. Some will try and deffend, some will try to take a base, some will be fighting the other country, some will be score whoring, and some will be furballing, and some will be busy chery picking.
When I was with the USMC and tried to take bases, the bases were taken within 30 secs to a minute after the town started flashing. If fighters were not up in numbers there was really nithing they could do to deffend after the town strted flashing. Do you think the enemy got organised and tried to take tree of our bases while the 10 of us were doing that? We would take 4 or 5 bases in minutes. Imagine what an organized horde of 30 or 50 can do.

I am not disagreeing with you or mars that is is possible to take bases with a horde while denying the enemy a direct response. What I am saying is every country has roughly the same proportion of people filling all of those ancillary roles you described and exactly the same opportunity and 'free force' to do their own undefended base hording as an indirect response if they choose to do so. The fact is, if an enemy is devoting 30-50 of there 100-150 people to horde single bases in rapid succession, there must be by mathematical necessity, some very-large gaping holes in their base defense elsewhere. Wether the defending team has the collective prescence of mind to take advantage of the opportunities as they present themselves is another issue, but there is definately an opportunity for indirect responses to a team that is single-base hording. The defending team has an opportunity to make single base hording an 'un-economical' way to conduct the 'war'.

Major correction requried in following excerpt.
Chopsaw " Im not saying people are switching just prior to the reset in numbers, though there are those that do. What Im saying is people are viewing the trends and seeing who is winning most lately and gradually the numbers build up on that side. It is not an instant wow Id better switch because x is going to win. It is a Im tired seeing those other guys win all the time and Im joining them. "
MugZ "Zazen could only dream of being as spot on as to "WHAT IS" as you are here. But have faith it will change ."
The "12" is meant to read 127
Rooks had 127 players more than Bish and 89 more than Knights.

You would be right as Ded pointed out if there were a joint chiefs for each country and eveything in the MA was coordinated. This just isn't the case in the MA. When one countries hord is rolling, there are tons of holes, but unless everyone in the out numbered country is working together little can be done. So yes your ideas are correct, they just don't apply to the MA.

Agreed again. I think you are missing one variable. Timing. The other countries will eventually do the same and take the bases back, but since there is no HQ, there wont be a direct responce to that action. Sure the enemy will take a couple of bases, but the organized horde will take a lot more. Till they get bored or log off and then the next hord will take over.

I hear what you're saying, but disagree that it takes a "joint chiefs" arrangement to implement conservation of force.
Take one squad with 8 guys on, and average spread of abilities. Add teamwork and timing. Those 8 guys could do NOE sneak captures of neglected fields at will.
They wouldnt have to coordinate with anyone outside their group, and in fact might beneift from being able to hide their coherent "signal" in the uncoordinated, panicked "noise" of the random ineffective efforts of their country mates.

coulda, woulda, shoulda. They don't. It doesn't happen. I have yet to see the horde lose. The only way to combat the horde is move fields closer or get an even bigger horde and fight back. Then only problem tho, is that the two hordes don't want a fight they just want to roll bases, so you almost never see two hordes collide.

Several people were on the HELP channel trying to convince this guy that It was indeed possible. I then landed 8 kills in an IL-2. Never heard from that guy again. I don't think you and mars are correct on this issue. You seem to think that a conscious effort is required to monopolize on the vulnerabilites of a single-base hording team. This is not usually the case. Human nature seeks the path of least resistance, both on an individual level as well as in a group dynamic. Obviously, taking on the horde directly is almost futile and certainly the path of MOST resistance, so people will tend not to do it, not by conscious intention but by virtue of simple logic, human psychology and common sense. By the same token, taking advantage of defensive holes of the base hording team is a path of least resistance as is counter-hording relatively un-defended feilds. So again, these things will be done within a reasonably responsive time-frame whether the individuals of a team are consciously co-ordinated about it or not. Human nature as dictated by our evolutionary development is drawn like a moth to flame to the path of least resistance when attempting to overcome opposition. This is by no means something that needs a Country Commander or HQ, it is the innate proclivity of every thinking person when faced with moments of tactical decision making...

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood the direction of the thread.
I agree 100% that hordes are bad, nasty, counterproductive things. they are hard to stop. Its easy to be discoiuraged when seeing a horde, because you cant fight it and you dont watn to join it. And, its also pretty clear that hordes are cyclic.
I've only been here 2 years, and I've seen rooks have overpowering numbers, I've seen Nits have the hordes, and I've seen Bish have top numbers.
And every single time this natural cycles rolls, at the rhythm's nadir the ganged side fill the BBS with Chicken LIttle's refrain.
And then the numbers shift back, which will happen shortly. ENY and Brownian random movement distributions assure it. So, hang in a few weeks to see what happens.
PS Right now, the horde effect is magnified because there's a chunk of newer guys on rooks who are still getting off on scorch the earth type missions (and maybe getting a base). Things may change once they get bored with that and get better in fighters -- and thats starting already, as I'm seeing some landing kills and even posting "fighter sweep" missions they previously said would disappear now that they'd "arrived with a new team oriented appraoch that would change the way AH is played forever." (I am NOT making this up. One guy was boasting about this so much that he had Hoarach almost ready to stroke..... So, the bish arent the only ones who can have entertaining typists on country!)

AMEN!!!!!!
I'll post screenshots starting Tonight. I have seen the identical situation of Rooks fighting both, with the token "let's at least make it look like we are fighting each other" Knight/Bish darbar. Look at the darbar, if you are gonna NOT acknowledge this yourself Kaw, you have no validity in the words you speak. BTW, I recall the Rooks being down in AH1, and never complained on the numbers. Why? We were too busy herding the perkies of killing and killing a plenty! Hell, you guys even got HTC to enact the Eny Limiter to counter "RJO" on Sunday nights. What made it worse is that was the ONLY time Rookland had the numbers. Who's complaining now? Bish/Knight's are, I see a pattern.

Rather I think the largest attraction is being on the winning side. Not for the perks, but simply to be on the side that's winning. It's a nice feeling. You're with a bunch of guys that are stomping keester and that's fun. Maybe makes you feel like you're part of an elite outfit. That sort of thinking.
i disagree with this statement. i know of alot of ex bish, shifted to rooks so that they could hide in the horde to continue their score horing unmolested.
I wont name names but they know who they are. :p

20 mm cannon taking down a cv?! That’s 9,000 lbs worth of damage. Must take them a heck of a long time.
Regarding solo dribbler’s; how effective could they be? Can they even take down one field by themselves? I’m willing to believe they can do the troops before they die, but the ordnance? And that’s only one field. Sounds like they’re wasting their time. Other fields can take up the slack while they do a small amount of damage to one field. By the time they’d be able to do that to two fields, the first would be ready to start popping up. Assuming they die in each attempt. You may know better than I on this, but it doesn’t sound like one Typhoon pilot could take down an entire front’s barracks. I don’t fly with guys that do that and I don’t do it myself, but heck, I can’t do that in bombers. Yes, I can make a fair impact, but not over an entire front. At least not for very long.
Well some people are going to shift to the winning side. Just the way things are. Perhaps they aren’t the most effective of players, but it still gives the side with the greater numbers and edge. You guys have been winning most lately. It’ll change around again someday.

Zazen
When I'm in a furball, yes I do fly fighters upon occasion, and there are five nme pilots climbing all over me, guess what happens. I’m not a very good fighter pilot, but I know how to barrel roll and get a guy who was behind me in front of me. I also know relative maneuvering and speed characteristics of some of the fighters so if I’m in a spit and a P38 comes up behind me looking for my goodies, I know how to reverse on him. So I know a little. Not nearly enough to save me in those odds. Ack-Ack or Shane and a few others can do that sort of thing but the vast majority of us die in that situation.
Superior numbers make the above scenario happen much more often than otherwise. In fact I could well be blamed for allowing myself to get into the above situation if the countries are balanced in numbers. Superior numbers, even unskilled numbers, make a big difference when the differential is great enough. Sure skill will win out over a higher number of lesser skilled, but not when the differential is too great. A bear can be brought down by dogs if there are enough dogs. Especially if the dogs don’t care if they die.

If dominoe hording is successful in AH it is only because the defending team is not taking proper advantage of the enemy's foolish lack of efficient economy of force.
Zazen
Right, but this isn't the military. It's a game. As such, each country is not nearly as well organized and disciplined as would be the case in a real military endeavor.

I think this ignores the large differential we see at times. Additionally country/teams don't move with the same mind, leadership or voice. Proportion as you will, and I agree with you on that, but you're still not going to have as large a portion as the team with more numbers.

Try taking a Mosi or 110G out after a CV offline. Soften it with bombs and rockets then gun away. It's easier than you think.
A lone dribbler in any cannon-armed bird can take down troops and ord at anything but a large field in two passes. I have seen people in Tiffy's and 110G's take out 4 or more fields - going 2 levels deep in the rear area in the process. The default AAA isn't that accurate and if you come in fast you and stick-stir you can usually get out clean. As long as they don't auger or get greedy and try to vultch they can de-troop two or three bases. And unless the defender feels like chasing someone who will likely bail before a shot is taken across two sectors, the dribbler gets away with it.
Most get greedy and try to vulcth, tho. I personally do not see the satisfaction in spending 15 minutes getting to a base to spend 30 seconds shooting at two buildings and then spending the next minute trying to survive the defenders long enough to maybe get a shot at someone trying to take off or land. And then dying. Every. Single. Time.
Again ... there is a reason beyond numbers why Rooks started being more effective. The sudden shift in numbers is a by-product.

I am not sure how to post a link to a thread, but I thought this was interesting. Check out the thread titled "ENY should kick in sooner so motivation is there to balance sides" last updated as of this moment on 2-07-06.
I find it funny because that complaint about the numbers on the sides was started by a Knight -- and less than a month before this thread began.

Seriously it is a cycle but the rooks have avoided this cycle for almost 2 years....just an observation....i have heard the "back in the old days we rooks were ganged and we loved it!!!" crap for as long as ive been here:lol
I fly for the bish....i have my own squad and we do things togehter and have fun with it....
biggest problem for bish right now is actually some of the bish who jumped feel the need to pound the bish....complicating the problem....but at least they not whining on green anymore so kind of a wash:O
I miss the old air warrior style of flying....multiple arenas and most bases uncapturable....you never WON a war....i pork troops almost nonstop nowadays when im on in the evening and i mus admit it gets old. i would rather be in a fiter winging with buds and hunting scorepotatos anyday.
THATS WHY PEOPLE JUMP...ITS MORE FUN TO FLY WITH NUMBERS...dUHHHH
You can fly with no pressure to "save the map". i personally could care less about winning...who gives a rats arse? i take bases til we even and then i go fly around and have fun.
dear hitech...thank you for a beautiful game and awesome attention to updates...there are zones in each map that favor a country...why not put the loser of a map into a favorable one ands the winner into the hardest?
example the map we are on now...bish in worst corner...2 different 3-4 base frontline while knit/rooks ahve stretch of smaller exposure. .and can we just have a furball map??? no captures...lasts 3 days when we on it then shifts???? puhlease????
im proud of the guys that are bish...whiining really at a minimum....ill believe zazen doesnt mind numbers when he shows up to help...he does enjoy being a jerk on ch 200...not sure why..think he prob is a good guy...here is a hint....dont try to "rationalize" to others how they should sit and take being ganged...not gonna get very far there.
p.s. wtg blue knits on going knit:aok tho i cant stand many of them..i think they do care about the game
p.s.s. look at many of the rook c.o.'s score....single digits....ya think it is easier to do whatever you want cuz of numbers??? wonder why those squads switched and stayed there?? try to replicate that as a bish guys... can't get your picks and vulch on when you fiting even numbers

Well I'd like to tell you to go back to AW if you like it so much, but I understand that's not around anymore. I wonder why. Even when it was still around it had low numbers of players compared to AH.
Check out the Axis vs Allies arena. There's a lot of what you want there. Last I looked, no base captures. Just fighter versus fighter. Your cup of tea. Of course the number of players is like twenty for the whole arena, but you get what you want.

Hi, my name's Birdboy, and I'm an Aces High-oholic.
-"hi, Birdboy"
Yeah, um....well where do I start? I guess I don't even know what a real friend is anymore. Um, yeah.... like when I started playing Aces High -shucks, it's been 9 yrs; gosh how they've flown by!- I had friends at work and stuff. Well my best friend was on AH, and he was my best friend cause he was fun and he made me laugh, and I never had to confront him in person. Well he went Rook cause he said things weren't as fun for him anymore, and he said I said all these nasty things about him, but we had this pact that we wouldn't go Rook, cause we're like really loyal and stuff, but he went Rook, and he shot my airplane down, like 5,6,7... I dunno, a bunch of times. He owned me, but anyway.... he's not my friend anymore cause loyalties are important to me, you know, just not when it comes to certain friends. I just don't understand why he couldn't have fun with me at his expense...*lost in thought* *unable to comprehend* Anyway, I still have my squad, cause I've been a CO for a long time and stuff, and it means a lot to me, so I pretty much don't need him. But yeah, I guess I have a problem, but doesn't he see HIS problem?? ...
The story continues, but I can only imagine that by this point you're thinking, "Hey Nav, stfu."
Yeah, well check it out: ditto.

I really, really like this idea. I often wish Rooks were in the 'reset corner' which for some reason on 90% of maps is the SE corner. Almost always the SE corner team is most vigorously two fronted. If the reset winning team was resigned to this corner it would keep them hemmed in a bit more than normal, essentially upping the difficulty level of achieving a reset-repeat. I know currently the position a team gets on a new map is auto-scripted randomly, so it would not be overly hard to auto-script the winner of a reset to the reset-corner position..

I am actually a very nice guy in real life. I'll tell you why I like to instigate on here and on 200. It's purely psychological and I try to keep it original, funny and light-hearted. I like to get people emotionally involved in the game and emotionally invested in outcomes. Once people get emotionally invested in outcomes a certain intangible human trait emerges which makes competition way more fun, it's called heart. Once people start playing with heart this becomes more than just another video game, people playing with heart affects AH like it does in any other team sport. People playing with heart tend to play inspired, with a much greater degree of intensity and they tend to achieve a level of performance they could not otherwise, that makes a comeptitive game like AH ALOT more interesting. Team players playing in a competitive environment all playing with heart is ALOT of FUN. Moreso than just a bunch of people playing a video game un-emotionally and in a detached way just to kill off some discretioanry free-time with no emotional energy behind their motives and actions.

Bishland looks like that website "Hows staff works" ,we have lot of new players, but are funny,
Was a Noe missions, half of them crashed, few that got to tgt, didn't know to drop bombs/rkts, the goon pilot was left behind mission, he didn't know to read the map got lost and took the drunks to some other base.
Was a dialog on country radio:
noob 1 screaming----I need a GUNER!
noob2 ----------------- What are you flying?
1------------------------some kind of "B "plane
2---------------- ok, ill gun for you
After he joins , noob1 said screaming:
-- what's with this smell in my bomber?! did you eat chilli? we are losing alt, you are to fat for a guner, get off my bomber!
Some new players are hardworking, resuping bases , One goes:
--I'll resup A41
someone told him,
-- A41 all strats are up, doesn't need sups, and explains him how to check strats
--ok, than i'll resup A45
--Hey ! A45 is knight base!
---:(
Some of them are lazzy bumps, escorting CVs in PTboats, drive tanks to enemy base without spawn, defend HQ in panzers

that was a bean borrito ghi, and sorry for stinkin up your 26, and it's YOU that made it drop alt, i was just the straw that broke the camels back. NOW GET IT RIGHT!

Well, we had that, in the backupMA for a few hours..... basetaking was almost impossible, due to only Zeke carrying "ordinance" - if you can call those lil cutie bombs that.
You shouldve heard all the whiiiiiines about it. quite funnny actually. (This coming from a hardcore furballer that has NO IDEA how to work strat/toolshed)

darn it im agreeing with zazen:aok
yup birdboy doesnt fly with ego...someone got mad at birdboy friends so he gonna cry and "teach" the other guys a lesson by trying to "punish" them...lmao...whiners are whiners...could care less. birdboy says darn thats a stupid whiny line of logic so now they mad at him
someone needs to grow up and undersatand that this is most peeps fun at the end of a long and fruitful day. when i get upset i log...come back another day and im ok again. Flying with a vendetta is miserable...aand if any of the whiners think they own him..well da is always available =):rofl
killing ya while you trying to support bases and defend is not owning.
hehehe..hehehehe

What Birdboy forgot to mention was that he PM'd a group of former fellas and said "Please tell my former friends not to me anymore unless its on green"
I dunno.... I always thought friends were friends.....
I find it very amusing that the color of text dictates friendship level.
Yes, my squad switched to rooks last week... Call it what you want, flying with #s, Being a traitor.... I dont care.
Until its your $15 being spent on me, dont dictate where and how I should play...
This is a game, a fun game with fun guys on all sides....
I have lots of guys on the Bish that are my friends and always will. <> Fellas

Isn't it funny that it is harder to find the VH than to destroy it? lol. I was asked to hit the VH last night but I knew I could not find it in time to line up. I knew what the FHs looked like so I pointed, then clicked, boom 3 of them down and the rest hit the CV a little latter dead center. From 13K baby, wooowoooooo, really hard :lol

Actually we Bish have a good set of 'newbs', lots of enthusiasm, just lacking in execution/experience.
Some of the country banter from them can be quite funny at times.
The two things that are not so good -
1) I actually with Zazen on this - the country jumpers close to a reset.
2) Some of his more misguided comments on CH200.
e.g After the reset last night the "we did it even with an ENV of 21"
Well numbers at the time of reset = 65 Bish v 93 Knit v 158 Rooks.
I don't think even the Rooks are that inept to lose a reset, needing only one base, whilst almost outnumbering the other two contries combined.
Numbers will always win out in the end, despite ENV.

Cry me a river...
I now have checked in to this thread,
only to say, BISH MUST DIE..and
it's the duty of all Rooks to Squish a Bish. :)
and to the bish...DEAL...
Now, Gia... you have choices too...
a. BE a ROOK and come over to the good guys as
it was once said... most bish are just a rook inside,
trying to get.
b. Squelch me with the following command....
".squelch Chi " and have peace on the Ch 200 but
unfortunely, it won't Squelch the hot 50's and 20's I
will be shooting up your 6 end.
c. Leave the main or AH... and conceed that you are to weak
to deal with dance of virtrual of life and death
in the skys of AH... and your ears to weak to deal with
the talk of men.
WE have choices and so do you....
BTW... the Gia skulls I have collected really
round out my vast collection of bish skulls
I have on display in my huge trophy case.
and finely, I have a link to a video that shows
how a bish reacts to me killing him/her...

See it worked! You are definately emotionally involved in this now! :rofl I do everything for a carefully thought out purposes. The end purpose of this is improved gameplay for everyone, you'll just have to trust me. ;) What is happening now in Bishland is what happened in Rookland under similiar circumstances 3 years ago, the wheat is being seperated from the chaff, what I do fascilitates this. What will be left is all of the best of Bish, a core, a nucleus to rebuild a stronger, better, more unified country around, one invigorated with a currently lacking sense of self-respect and pride. It's a Baptism of fire than will serve to galvanize the will and resolve of a hitherto weak and pliable, quivering mass of jell-o that is currently Bishland.

Are you kidding? Bishop make up 50% of FT's total occupants most of the time. Especially near reset on the last 8 maps starting with "donut" 2 rotations ago.

What a crock of crapola!
I find it disturbing that ppl like you hide behind the "Game" vs "Real Life" to justify your incessant desire to be prettythangholes. You my dear Zazen are obviously an prettythanghole in real life and in the game. You just don't have the luxury of expressing yourself in real life the way you do behind the PC monitor and this would explain why you are such a nice guy in real life. Its actually very easy to understand if you step back and take a good long look at yourself. ;)
I mean really, how hard is it to be cordial to others in victory and in defeat? When Bishop are winning a reset you don't see MugZ trying to rub it into the noses of the other countries. In fact i usually always express to the two losing countries something to the effect "Great battle Rooks/Nits" or "Good fight aces" or some other variant of a decent comment. It's very easy if you try. Since its just a game and your comments are not to be taking seriously i challenge you to try to take the high road the next several times. I really dont think you are capable of it.

You're kidding, right? You really believe that what you write here or what you may say in game has the amount of impact you're claiming?
Level of impact aside, what you seem to be doing is ticking people off. That doesn't make them play "with heart". That makes them play angry. Angry people are much more prone to moaning and whining. Their frustration level is high and their skill set lowered by the anger. Additionally, angry people don’t learn very well. They have a tendency to fly around bumping into things. Angry people beget other angry people by saying and behaving in antisocial ways.
This is not a positive motivator. It's not a motivator at all. You're just ticking people off for the fun of it and trying to pass it off as an intelligent approach designed to improve the game. You decrease the game in both short and long term view.
This is not psychology, it's just mean. For your sake as well as ours, take another approach.

Untrue. Angry people try like hell to prove themselves unworthy of the ridicule. To do otherwise is to admit they are guilty as charged. I have no problem with the animosity being focussed on me as opposed to my entire team. The simple truth is, Bish need something to shake things up, they are wallowing badly in a deep, stinking rut of ineptitude. If anger towards me serves as a catalyst to encourage them to play with some heart and not give-up and quit so easily, so be it...

You have no clue as to what you're talking about. Anger is a negative emothion and burns up emotional energy. It wears people out and ultimately defeats them.
I'm not angry with you, I'm disappointed.

Actually I know exactly what I'm talking about. "Let the hate flow thru you! Only then will you know the true power of the dark side!"
It's working great as we speak, Bish are doing alot better tonight, they aren't quitting and they are fighting back like I haven't seen them do in literally months. All the while I'm poking 'em with a sharp stick to keep them 'motivated', it's alot of fun. Anger and hatred just like love is a very powerful motivational tool, just ask my ex-wife. ;)

Bish are doing better tonight because we weren't severely outnumbered like we were several times before resets over the last 2 weeks. In fact numbers were fairly even for the best part of the night. 8:00PM to about 12:00am. Even though the Knights were back adoring the stuff out of us we still managed to hold our own for a good long while. I noticed the Rooks and Nits weren't fighting very much at all. There was a little action A10 A9 area, but not much. Once again proving with even numbers and taking the bulk of the Hit from the Dynamic Duo (Rook/ NIT) the Bishop really are the Superior country as far as the war is concerned. Anyone that is paying attention and being honest can see this played out time after time. But go ahead and fly in your hoard, with that much suckage you need it. If you put as much energy in evaluating the facts as you do creating off the wall philosophies you would realize this. But its ok..go ahead and credit yourself. I would rather you live in your dark corner than to come out amongst the living. ;)

The size of your ego is only surpassed by the enormity of your delusion. I do not believe I have anything more I care to say to you. Just not worth it.

Hey, take it easy on us Knights. What'd we ever do to you? Oh yeah...now I remember. :D

Actually that's not true, there was a major mini-war all night at the a9 area, I know I was there. There were at least 50-100 Knights/Rooks fighting there all night. But, that being said, yes Bish did alot better, and it wasn't because of numbers. Bish numbers tend to only tail off numerically after getting repeatedly beaten down in fights. Bish weren't quitting on losing fights like they usually do, they persevered and at least stalemated on several occasions where they would have normally given-up and got raped.

I was also at A10 A9 area in Shades as a nit and you are full of chit. There werent anywhere near 100 Nits at A9 A10 island at the times i stated in above post. Dream on little dreamer. I knew i would catch you exagerating the truth eventually. Talk to the hand. ;)

Surely you are not suggesting that Zaz would stretch the truth. Perish the thought. :rofl

If you read what I said carefully, I said 50-100-Knights/Rooks (that means COMBINED, not just Knights). :huh Also, add to that the similiar number that were at FT/TT not specifically fighting Bishops either. That means roughly half of each country were not fighting Bish, which is about as perfectly balanced as you can get.

I never exaggerate! I accentuate, twist, contort and manipulate the truth to achieve a desired end result but, never, never, never exaggerate! :lol

My apologies then, I though you were saying 50 to 100 each. 50 to 70+ would be accurate and more like 50 Combined for the time frame i was talking about. In which case in an arena where there were around 525+ players total at those times means that Rooks and Nits were barely fighting. But i extend my apologies for the misunderstanding.
