Check the news thread. Any guesses as to what the "something different" is? C'mon you little spies, spill it! I'm giddy with excitement.

I'm leaning toward a LW interceptor sleigh that is airlaunched from an HE-111, and armed with a nook.

Second guess is a B-29 capable of airdropping a jeep towing nurplewooferz.

Third is, logically, flying PTs crewed by genetically altered reindeer with lazers on their heads.

Word on the street has it that they are testing the NEW inflight Re-arm method.  Aparently it's a perk cost of 10 to 15 perkies. The 15 perky charge is for re-arm behind enemy lines.  For the perpose of test no perks will be charged.  Method, I believe, is to slow to 150 MPH under 200 ft then press Tab Alt.

This was a request by the score potato's who didn't want to RTB... Blame them.  :D

Yes the downgraded engine performance on all LW aircraft. Increased turn radius and lowered climb rate and finally removed flaps. All changes made according to histerical data provide by the subscriber base.

In other words

Without a game upgrade it will have to be a variation on terrain and or arena set up..............

How about a forced testing of a new CT (TOD) europe map?......(still requires a terrain upgrade at least)

or some wierd radar set ups

or some night time stuff............

or playing with some hardnesses (eg to limit porkage)

Furball, when I can find a translator for whatever you claim might have come from me, I'll respond appropriately.

Right now, the best I can do is this; The bait is pretty cheesy, and might even be a bit soured.

I see AI UFO fighters with photon torpedoes and warp speeds.  I have seen the tests of the warp drives already but I have not seen the torpedoes nor the phasers.

Word of advice.  If you see one of these, do not engage.  I repeat.  DO NOT ENGAGE!!!!!!

I'm very sorry about Ralphies's father.  He was a heck of a guy.

I STILL want a Superfortress with a  nuke.....and a 20mm cannon in the tail with the twin 50's.....and a 50 caliber quad in one of  the dorsal gun turrets.....and if it could be in red, that would be awesome.

(sigh)  Of course the B-29's that dropped nukes had all but the tail guns removed.

You’re mispronouncing it.  It’s Su…Per…For…Tress.  Super Fortress…superfortress.  See?  Don’t worry about it.  It’s a common mispronunciation.

Interesting, but it's still pronounced Superfortress.  B-29 y'all.

I have it from a reliable source (read that, "total fabrication") that tomorrow morning, the skies will be filled with blood thirsty AI escorts. Think "Terminator" in a P51, giving you the whole 9 yards in the face.

I'll be hiding under the desk until the regular MA comes back up. Yell if ya need me. :noid

That term does not relate to gun belt length. In all likeliness it is a football term from the late 60s (or was that early 70s? -- can't remember which). It never did relate to ammo belt length, that's an urban myth presented after the fact.

EDIT: But regarding the rest of what you typed, I'll be setting up checkpoints at the doors to my underground city to screen out these Terminators :noid

Neither you nor I know the actual origin of that phrase, and debating it is futile. In this forum, accurately or not, 90% of the folks are going to equate the phrase to mean a complete and total effort, another few percent will associate it with gun belts, and the rest won't know what it means.

But thanks for the correction that may also be incorrect. :noid

9 yards is an insignificant number of yards in football.  Why the heck would it come from that?

I've seen what HTC's AI fighters can do... haxxor aim for your head style.

I always thought it was similar to "the whole enchelada" or the "whole works" or "the whole ball of wax" rather than a description of effort.
Title: And now for something completely different
Post by: hubsonfire on February 27, 2006, 10:41:58 PM
Assuming I mean the physical exertion of a single individual with my use of the word effort is incorrect. As a simple analogy (and to avoid a longwinded zazenesque post), consider the phrase, "the war effort".

And this concludes another random hijack. This is a serious post, and I'd appreciate if you all would help keep it on topic.

Thank you.

Stang: The best guess of folks more educated than I, is that it was a final play and the "whole nine yards" was the last 9 to touchdown, and it was spawned by a commentator "they went the whole nine yards!!" <-- something like that

Chopsaw: Exactly. It is a measure of effort, not a literal measure of something.
