Thou shalt not kill!
or
Thou shalt not murder!
This is a translation from latin which is a translation from greek and that one from Hibrew.
Anyone for whom Hibrew is the native language, what does it really say/mean?
We have to define our terms before arguing.

Is'nt this the o'club?
Where we can defecate our stupid BS freely?
Most part of us debate for the taste to debate, it's so hurting for you?
Since you are so sensible, simply dont read.
Anyway, welcome in the flame and BS community (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Heh I don't care either way (with regards to the question). What that collection of writings say has been said since the beginning of human society.
Do something the group as a whole agree on is good, and the killing is justified. something the group think is bad, it ain't.
The Christian doctrine acknowledges this. The debates I've had with apologetics regarding this topic always start out with them explaining that the Hebrew meaning is "murder", not "kill". Since a murder is an unlawful killing, we're down to group dynamics and social interaction and the rules within those.
Personally, I've been forced away from the easy answer of "what does [insert religious document] say on this?" (each to his own) and into the realm of cultural relativism. Of course, there are universals here, and unlawful killing is one of those that have been around in every major culture since the dawn of time. Social animals need "rules of conducts", if you will, to ensure the continuation of the species.
In the US the death penalty is an accepted norm within the group. In most European countries, it ain't.
The way I see it; you kill anything, you're a killer. You kill another human, then you cross a cultural taboo that's been encoded in us, and you'd need certain conditioning to be ok with it. The quick answer is that technically, the lawful killing of another person doesn't make you a murderer. On a more abstract leve, technicalities aside, the case is less clear cut, at least to me.

Dont know the language. But I have read that, in ancient hibrew, it was "thou shalt not murder". This is the oldest text found with the commandments written.
The "not kill" was a result of christen ( read that, platonic) influence.

Shade - you are an idiot.
All of a sudden, there are people announcing to world (as if anyone gives a toejam) that they are NOT going to do something. For god' sake, grow up; don't make such a fuss, and just GO!!!!
BTW - this is the O-club - if the things you read here bore you, fine, that's your choice. But some people like discussing the issues that arise here.
I'm sure you know where the door is. Goodbye.
I can't believe I've just replied to you, shade. What a waste of time.

Isn't this guy the jerk that that other dude from the other WW2 sim forum posted warning us about?

Think Shade is for the radio filter? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
To the original question, I think it means both. I believe they were more cut and dry back then, black and white with very little grey, unlike today. "Murder" would include all avoidable killing which is 99% of it. The turn the other cheek thing. That's my $.02 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Mav goes to the paint locker gets a brush and can of paint.
<sounds of painting and LOTS of paint fumes with some muttering going on> Mav looks at the results and decides it's time to act.
HEY SHADE!!!!!! I drew ya a map to the door out of here. Please follow the yellow line and REAL SOON!!!!! Please note there is no map on the OTHER side of the door. Take the hint, and take a hike!

All please note. I have deleted the "finger smiley" from my post. The use of the finger smiley was offensive. I am making this change after having received an e-mail from Shade. He wanted me to delete the post. I still feel the post (without the finger smiley) is appropriate to what Shade had posted so I will let it stand. I do not know why Shade deleted his earlier posts.
I do have to say that I respect Shade for having gone to the trouble to e-mail me that he was upset rather than just "flame on" on the BBS.

What the hell? Ask a simple question, come back, see a bunch of incomprehensible flaming posts (Shade's are edited/deleted, that is obviously the reason).
I did not mean to start ideological or political discussion. I do not need that info for any practical purposes - I am not planning to kill anyone, Bush gets my vote no matter what and I am an atheist anyway.
If I was a christian or a religious jew, I would have made sure to learn Hibrew in order to read the God's word in it's original form. I am not getting uppity here - most americans and russians only know one language fluently and have no idea how much can be distorted in translation.
I see lots of arguments referring to that frase and want to get the real meaning.
P.S. If you do not know Hibrew but still want to post in this thread, do not flame each other. better tell us if Crimsom Skies is a good buy.
I played the demo - 2 mission one minute each. the whole game promises 24 missions. $50 for 24 minutes of flying time? There better be some enticing action between missions. Do we get to have virtual sex like in "Strike Commander"?

Funked,
1. Blaster....Check!
2. Wookie......Check!
..but I do have a minor problem.
The dang wookie keeps eating my Doritos while I play flight sims!!!
I've tried setting the blaster to "stun" and giving him a few slaps upside the head but it just seems to make him madder AND hungrier. Besides that, I think the stuns are making patches of his hair fall out.
Any tips?

BTW, shade, if you can show me anywhere in the HTC contract where it says you HAVE to read the BBS and PARTICULARLY have to read the specifically "off topic" O-Club, I'll refund your first month's payment when you quit.
Have a nice day!

I have deleted my posts for the sole reason that I know they were unfairly worded and aggreessive, yet I stand by my point. I have canceled my account and I apologize to all offended.

If you're really quitting you might at least notify the CO of your squad...
