That is a real picture.

It is not as hard as it appears to do that. If you hit the water at a high enough speed and shallow enough angle you will skip along like a flat stone.

That is what those planes are doing. It is a type of hydroplaneing. But if you dig in too hard you can bite and nose over or if you did it too slow you risk that as well.

The picture is of a Harvard formation team from South Africa. I believe that South Africa used those planes as military trainers until just a few years ago.

Real? Really? I'm sceptical.

However, I did see a Birdog doing the same thing. The landing gear was shaking like it was about to rip off.

Take a close look Frenchy, the "Radio" ??? antenae behind the cockpit are different on 3 of the 4 planes.

Angles are different on each, tires that are kicking up more spray look visibly "wetter" shinier than others.

It is a real picture. Bush pilots in Canada do the same thing when they take off from gravel banks on the side of a river. Get enough speed and you can use the river at the end as part of your runway.

I've also read that some alaskan bush pilots who are loaded too heavilly to land on an available shore will touch down on the water to slow down and end up rolling up onto the bank.  After unloading, they can take off on the gravel beach before hitting water.
