Cav... TWRATM (I think..his handle means Tower Air Traffic Manager) is a ATC. When I see him I'll pass the message on to him for ya. If you see him in the game just PM him.

You will first need to go to one of the approved schools for the ATC program.  Then you need to get into the FAA's academy.

There are 13 and these include Beaver County Community College in Beaver Falls, PA. and Riddle.

Medical standards are much higher than for pilots.  Close tabs on BP and what not.  Pilots can actually be on BP medications and show "no adverse effects" as attested by their physician and still fly.  Controllers as I understand cannot.

If you're looking into school (and you need to) I'd visit Beaver.  I have been up there twice and it seems like a good program and they've got their students working in the tower right there under the supervision of the already highly experienced controllers employed.   I'm told by my contract tower controller buddies (they're definately in the know) that you can go as high as $150,000 at various ARTCCs for you average pay which will base your retirement pension off of.

Google Community College of Beaver County and I'm sure you'll find some more info.

The higher your salary in ATC, the more you tend to earn it. I'm sure there are exceptions, but as a general rule it seems true enough to me.

Ah rgr that CAV.  I have a friend that went to Beaver.  She said it was very cool.  If you are going down this route they also have an age limit, I think 31.  I know you still have time :aok

I'm sure Twr would know a lot of this stuff too.

Any idea how long the civil college training course is before the FAA Oklahoma training?

I hear the final exam is an auctioneer yelling in each ear, while a stripper performs in front of you....while another guys asks you math questions.

Either 2 or 4 years.  They have both and the nifty part...the FAA doesn't take one over the other so no reason not to save some coin and go the 2 year route.  Beaver also requires you to become a private pilot and it's included in the tuition.  For everything in-state it was under 20k.  In-county was under 15k.

Beaver I think I was told is a 2 year program.  Cost would vary based on where you live not only in PA but in the country like any other community college I'd assume.
