Surround gaming (http://www.matrox.com/graphics/offhome/th2go/gaming/home.cfm)
-
Compatible or not, Matrox is not known for having good DirectX support for any of thier video cards.
-
Seems pretty cool if it works with tons of games.
-
it's written somewhere in the Necronomicon that if Matrox actually manages to put out a competitive gaming card, the world will promptly end before anyone gets to use it.
-
Oh wait a tick, it's not a graphics card. This actually looks pretty cool.
-
It has support for the IL-2 series and the M$ Flight sim group so I would think it would fairly easy to get some support giong for AH. Hell if it did work with AH I might just grab a couple of more 17" LCD's and buy one of those suckers.
-
You are correct. It is a software solution which works with any existing video card (supposedly). Here is the kicker though.
Interesting. But it does require the video card to support a very odd resolution and the amount of video ram wouldb e much higher due to the higher resolution you have to set.

True Surround Gaming: http://www.3dvisor.com
Maybe HT could write drivers, someones done FS2004 drivers for it. Imagine it matched up with TrackIR 6DOF.
-
Those visors only work if you have two working eyeballs.
-
I thought that was the norm with my fellow human beings. Did someone lie to me again? :o
-
I am blind in my right eye.
-
Ah. (I figured something like that was comming) I'll be right back as soon as I can take my foot off my mouth :)
-
How much does the new system cost? (Not that I will ever be able to afford it)

No worries Saw. It was a birth defect. I get along just fine as I do not know any different. However, it does preclude me from watching 3D moves, or using 3D goggles.
It should wreak havoc with my depth perception, but some automatic mechanism figured out other ways to deal with it (shadows, size changes...).
-
Looked at the site...damn thing is $900! Doesn't look like it supports 6DOF either, in other words, you can't slide yer head side to side to peer around the frames.
-
According to what they say, Aces High II should work as we do allow the video configuration file to be directly edited for custom resolutions.
I just do not know many video cards which could acutally push that type of resolution.

$900 is actually cheap for a headset with tracking.

I think he's talking about the 3dvisor thing, not the matrox one.

Snap skuzzy :) I had an 'accident' at a young age, fell over as a baby and sliced the nerve that controls my right eye muscles. The eye rolled up and I was effectively blind in that eye til the age of 5, then they operated and got it going again. By that time my vision had developed around non-binocular vision, but I never found out til I did an air force entrance physical and failed some stereoscopic tests.
If you ever go to an optometrist they have these metalic looking cards with some sort of raised surface people with depth perception see.
Wierd thing I can't figure out is sometimes when wearing VR headsets I do start to get some depth perception happening. Used to happen on my old VFX1. But then again I have real problems with binoculars, and the VFX1 was like a set of binoculars so maybe its something in that.
