Title: Spitfire
Post by: Pooface on March 04, 2006, 08:34:48 AM
first film i've made in vegas, so im still getting used to it. im sure there are a few things that i could change in an attempt to make it better, so i may redo it sometime soon, so think of this as a first draft really. all comments/constructive criticism most welcome. hope you like! :)

Great film w/ some excellent flying.  Your chase view was smooth as silk, mine likes to studder.  Having a "Spitfire" song really adds to it too.  All in all, pat yerself on the back bro, very nice.

ty. yeah, mine got very jittery. i was running full graphics, 1024 textures, and 4x antialiasing. usually i get a frame rate over 50 using those settings ingame. as soon as i put fraps on it dropped to 20 or something crazy like that, so there are some parts that is jumps far too much :(

but thanks. i think it could be bettered a little, i made it at 3 in the morning last night lol, so i was tired and i kinda rushed it, but well...

nice work for your first film, and a good film in ah standards, the camera got a bit far away in those chase cams to the point of not being able to tell what was going on with the plane, but thats more of a limit in the ah film viewer than a flub on your part. Great rolling scisors!

Sony Vegas with FRAPS to capture the video...it's a great setup to use once you get the hang of it all.

1.) so, you fly around with film on. Do you think about the views that you need right at that time? (pan, flyby, zoom in or out, Look left, right..)

2.) Then you save it, open in FRAPS or AH2 viewer, look at it but you want to work with it, right?

3.) Save it to something that you can import to Vegas (5 or 6 or M/S VideoFilmmaker) ?

4.) Do the intro screens, mix sound, clip, cut, transistion, save it to 1600x1600 for Real SLooooo Rendering and Massively Large Size. (does size Really Matter?)

5.) save it to mp2, or 3, or avi, mwv and Done?

WAIT, Hold the Show!!!!

You Mean That I Have to STOP Playing the Game while I do this?? (I dont think I can do THAT, withdrawl issues and all the way it is).

Yes, i usually do. No, during recording i usually dont think about viwepoints, camera angles etc, since im usually busy dying.

2.) Then you save it, open in FRAPS or AH2 viewer, look at it but you want to work with it, right?

AH automatically stores the films as film##.ahf in your AH2/films folder. You can only open and watch those with AH film viewer. Start up FRAPS simultaneously. Hitting the fraps hotkey starts the fraps recording with the settings you gave it. (play back the film in AHFviewer in the camera position/angle/viewpoint etc etc you like). FRAPS automatically stores the recorded clips as AVI files in a preset folder (make sure you got enough HDD space ;).

3.) Save it to something that you can import to Vegas (5 or 6 or M/S VideoFilmmaker) ?

Import the AVIs FRAPS provided into your eediting software (WMM or Sony or whatever).

4.) Do the intro screens, mix sound, clip, cut, transistion, save it to 1600x1600 for Real SLooooo Rendering and Massively Large Size. (does size Really Matter?)

In this case size DOES matter ;)

5.) save it to mp2, or 3, or avi, mwv and Done?

Yup. Upload and post :)

Are you going to do something like this (http://www.patricksaviation.com/sim_videos.php?action=view&id=74), with plot and voice dubbing? It would be cool. :)

I'd like to be part of the "cast", but I really think I'll be out stalking women Saturday night... :D
