hey, will CH analog peds work with X52? Max gave me a set but I have USB's, so if they will work u can have em.

add peds into the mix and things will really get interesting.. It took me about a month to go from twist stick to ch hotas and really get use to it all.

What seems to be the problem? Is this your 1st experience with a twist handle? I'm talking "flight gear" Jaxxo :rofl

If you have an old  stick that will plug into the gameport you can use the analog CH pedals for rudder while using the USB X52 for everything else.

It's the setup I'm using now.

gameport is separate from USB. It's like saying "You cant mix PS2 and USB!" -- which isn't true. You can have something on each plug, and each will act as it should (that is, each will act separately, but correctly).

P.S. If you had rudder pedals and you TRASHED them, you don't deserve any more! Ever again!! (instead, as punishment, you must buy me some pedals and watch as I cherish them for all eternity).

I have had my x52 for almost a week, and Jaxxo your right the twist stick is useless.  Will be buying pedals once my budget allows.

The other thing i dont like is how loose the stick is.  You cant get a good feel for the airplane.  JB22 told me to put pennies between the spring and the stick.  It seemed to tighten up the stick nicely!:aok

if you use a game port to usb adaptor you can use the pedals by themselves and plug them into a different port, it will show up in control panel as a different joystick, thats how my adaptor works at least, its got 3 settings, if it doesnt work, plug a game port stick into the pedals and it should pop up. The Usb adaptor really smoothes things out too. Having an extra joystick handy can be usefull for misc commands. I have 4 sticks plugged in and responding in the control panel for the home made throttle system. Unfortunately they have some issues running together in ah, but in "another sim" it works great.

How odd........ cause I am.  Using a F16 fighterstick and prothrottle USB with a old set of peds hooked to my old F16fighterstick analog.

Works fine.  Even got it working in IL2.

Someone said buy a gameport/USB converter from Radio Shack.  I've looked for the converter but they seem to be always out of stock :(

Analog peds ARE compatable with a USB stick using the forementioned gameport/USB converter. I've used 'em both. They will show as 2 seperate devices in the XP control panel >Gaming device window.

First night with x52 tonight. God it was rough after 12 yrs of MS, but gonna stick with it. I am having more of a hard time with comfort (where to set the stick) than anything else. It sits higher and I'm totally not used to the HOTAS. Stick with it jaxxo...it felt good ( once I got drunk), and I think I can adapt readily once I install something to set it on.

Gatr, You dont NEED rudder pedals, BUT...
I flew for 3 years with out them, used the keyboard at first then the Afterburner stick was a twisty stick, but it was diffult for me to make lead turns and fire at the same time.  got the X45 and used the rocker on the throttle, and that was fine, except for those occasions I lost a wing tip and I needed to crank hard on the rudder and airelons to keep the plane level.  One hand on the throttle/rudder and one on the stick, made it kind of hard to hit buttons to lower flaps and gears and such.
I got lucky at the last con and won my CH USB pedals.   Its took a little while to get used to but now I can use my feet and it frees up my hand to do other tasks while flying.  Also my turns and skids are better coordinated and I dont even have to think about it.   I would be very upset if i couldnt use my rudder pedals, I kinda depend on them now.

It's like ice cream - some like chocolate; others vanilla. After years using a twist stick I tried peds. After 6 months+ of peds I went back to the twisty.
