Whoa... I'd have to change my shorts on that one. I've got a trip to Alaska, one of my adventures was going to be kayaking. Hrmm..
-
they are called "killer whales" for a reason.
-
if it is fake it is an amazing fake...
look at the way the water in the ocean still shows the impact of the whale, and the flat water.
i think it is real. and :O there's a reason the movie "Orca" scared me as a child.

The Snopes link crashes my IE browser out everytime.

Snopes says its part of a Gatorade commercial that never aired in the US.
Kinda reminds me of the Toyota commercial where a meteor lands on a Tacoma 4x4 and the truck drives away unscathed.

Shamu is your friend!
At SeaWorld in San Diego you can have "Dinner with Shamu". Basically you pay too much for a crappy dinner and get to eat right next to the killer whale holding tanks while the handlers lure them over for close up visits and such.
While we were there a small child was standing near the edge looking at the whale when a seagull landed on the water of the tank. The cute little boy pointed a chubby little finger and said "look a birdie" just as Shamu or whoever.. made a snack out of the seagull from the low 6 position.
Kid screamed... but it was pretty cool to watch them do something besides act.

Did anyone ever see (or have a copy?!) that fight between the Great White and the Killer Whale off the coast of Northern Cali a couple of years ago? Scientists always theorized the two species would avoid each other... but the news showed 'em going at it. IIRC the whale won.
-
Yeah the whales got a bit of a size advantage, plus all that fat to protect it. And after all the whale hunts things roughly the size of a great white (IE: other smaller whales). I would like to see the video also.

Look at the two side by side pictures Snopes is using. The dorsal fin in particular is the most telling.
But also the shape of the white against black markings is slightly different below the dorsal. As is the shape of the front flippers.
The shot may come from that film they mentioned. But the two whales they are using in those pictures is not the same whale

Don't look at the stills. Look at the two videos:
http://galerie.maville.com/photo/photo/2004/12/658.mpeg
and
http://www.slavetoentertainment.com/LolitaTrailer1.mov
The scaling is slightly different, but it's the same whale during the same breach. Hell, even the waves in the foreground line up.
