What is the etiquette for the AvA arena?
I inadvertantly caused friendly damage, and was threatened by one member of my team and shot down by another.
Do you wait for an absolute clear shot when a buddy is in trouble or take a chance?
My apologies to the bloke I damaged, it wasn't intentional.

it was I, and you sprayed me on three occassions on two sorties. the killshooter feature is disabled in the AvA so additional care needs to be taken in order not to shoot down team members. the only axis team members that are actually hunted and killed are kongkyuk, MVJester, LwDwn and LoKee. If you shoot down any of these team members see AvA staffer OM at door to collect your prize money. I believe it's about $.01 for kongkyuk and there have to be multiple kills on the other three, none of them are valuable pelts though. generally speaking I won't enter into a 1v1 unless the person involved specifically asks for the help. often times the guy you see on the defensive is capable enough to reverse the situation and gain the advantage. many times the advantage changes repeatedly in a good fight. there are no hard and fast rules but unless there is a general melee I'll stay out of other people's fights. many other players do the same. read the "for oldman" thread by plank and that should give you insight into the majic that can happen in the AvA. those are the fights that make the game very enjoyable. those types of random duels only occur in the AvA and then only rarely.

I see your point. I think perhaps I simply didn't understand the AvA code of conduct. Rather than the MA instant gratification, AvA is more of like fishing, dogfighting for the dogfight, rather than the kill.
Again my apologies, though a simple "Check your fire!" the first time I sprayed you would have been helpful. I would have disengaged immediately and chose my shots more carefully.
I found the dogfights in AvA much more fulfilling than the MA. You get to know your opponents and how they maneuver. It's also very fullfilling to fly with "lesser" machines. You are forced to understand thier specific strengths and weaknesses...it requires finesse....rather than in the MA where the majority of people just hop in the plane with the "highest number" and hard stick their way around.
I hope to fly with you again storch, you'll not have to worry about my errant bullets next time.

Storch is the last person you need to learn the code of conduct from, dont listen to him. He regularly kills friendlies ON PURPOSE, while you unintentionally caused some damage, dont sweat it.

Name names, who threatened you and who fragged you?

not a problem republic. welcome to AvA. oh and I forgot to add, grits or whatever shade account he's playing on is another worthless pelt that OM pays pennies on the ton for.

Killshooter was invented because of the morons like Storch. Too bad it is off in AvA.

Heh. If Grits asks for my lunch, I give it to him quietly.
Sometimes I ask if he wants more.

And now that I'm thinking about this...
I've always been inclined to leave killshooter on, just because I so hate fraggers. But I have noticed, now that we generally have it turned off, that it really DOES change your flying behavior in a realistic way. In the old days, if you were trying to pick someone off the tail of a friend, you just opened up and hoped that your shots hit the bad guy. Now I catch myself easing off the trigger until I get a clear shot at the trailer, for fear of doing his dirty work for him.
I guess we should all recognize that some friendly fire is going to occur, and that when it does it will often be unintentional - as it appears to have been with Republic shooting Storch. Also, newer folks from the MA probably won't even know that killshooter is turned off. In these circumstances, patience and understanding will be key.
It's the fraggers who open up on you while you're sitting on the runway in front of them, or who fire at you when there clearly aren't any enemies nearby, who should be run out of town on a rail.

Yep...there's nothing worse then to try to do a GV assault just to have a fragger sit at the spawn point and frag you then follow you aroun the map only to frag you every time you try to up.I know about this I fell victim to this before.

This is typical behavior of some who enjoyed the AvA when it was the Combat Theater and it was 5 of them vs 1. As long as you were not "fragging" guys and it was simply friendly fire, there is no reason for them to act that way. Killshooter is turned off to add to the immersion and realism of the arena. Some children, whether they are 12 or 50, abuse it for no other reason thne to be an ass. It usually will lead to verbal abuse from these types, please use "report player text" option and/or record it and email it to HTC. Seems silly but the end result will be better for the arena and game play in the AvA. Hope you continue to enjoy the AvA and dont let a few abusive griefers drag you down.

Hehe, finally a drop of humor in this pathetic thread. :)
No offense towards the poster, referring to the couple of twins that have infested this topic.

I agree OM. You try to lay off a close friendy (more realistic) but FF does happen. I've been killed by it a couple times. No biggie at all. Kinda funny as the guy usually says "oops"
It, or should, stop people hogging in for a kill blindly when someone already has it wrapped up.

Grits if you're letting someone else on that beautiful ankle of yours I better head to the clinic and get myself checked out. You said I was the only one!
