Top one of the two.
Finding 'different' Spits is difficult, so maybe that one?
Wasn't a combat aircraft, but at least it is different.
Was used for trials in the U.S. , noseart painted in Iceland during its return to the U.K.

It is do-able, quick test (would do new weathering layers, remove leading edge stripes etc).

i think they're great. i've never seen or heard of any spits that had nose art that personal on them. i think if skuzzy will allow em they'd be really great:aok

Bottom one already done and sent in, it was a combat Mk V.
Used to be on the old V.
Was wondering about the top one.
P.S. Still looking for LF IXe's (for the XVI) with invasion stripes.

For this crowd, shouldn't the lady in the first scheme be saying: "baa-aa-aa-aah" instead of "hello"?

OK Skuzzy so the 3 questions are -
1) As per original post on the trials Spit IX (upper one) with the noseart.
2) OK to put Seafire LIII skins on the IIc?
3) I know it's OK to do the LF IXe on the XVI.
But got a snag with one specific one, probably applies to others -
Some IX's had field mods to make the Universal 'c' wing into a 'e' armament wing. i.e. it's still basically a 'c' wing but with the 50's and 20's armament.
These usually still have the original Spit IX rounded tail.
What would it be more appropriate on?
F IXc - correct tail, wrong engine and armament
or
LF XVIe - correct armament and correct engine but wrong tail.
Bearing in mind the only way of getting a D-Day LF IXe will be on the LF XVIe.
Specific planes are Johnny Johnson's JE-J or JE-J jr, both were field modded from LF IXc to LF IXe armament (July 44), but retained original rounded Spit IX tail.
Thanks
