Title: AMD Turion vs Intel Core Duo
Post by: LLv34_Camouflage on March 11, 2006, 02:57:59 PM
Hi gents & ladies,

I'm looking into buying a laptop. Which one of these processors is better for AH2:

AMD Turion 64 MT-34 (1.8 GHz)
Intel Core Duo T2300 (1.67 GHz)

Thanks!

Skuzzy has said that AMD dual-core processors and Windows XP aren't totally compatible with each other currently, resulting in lock ups playing Aces High unless you disable one of the AMD's cores.  I recommend Intel dual-core.

Thanks for the comments!  AFAIK, the MT-34 is not dual core.  The Turion X2  dual core technology is coming out later this spring.

The MT-34 is 64bit though, but if I'm using regular WinXP OS, will it make a difference in AH2?

I don't think so.  I've got a Pentium D processor, which I believe is both dual-core and 64-bit, running regular Windows XP and don't have a problem with Aces High.

If you are buying a laptop, the Intel Mobile series is about as good as it gets.

Yep, I havent seen any of the laptop makers offer an AMD based one that offers all the high end components (7200 RPM drives, high end video, etc).  Usually the AMD ones are low priced pieces.

Laptop...Intel has it.  Centrino et all

Just dont...dont...ever...do Celeron
