Well I'm working (with slow progress) on 2 p47 skins, and soon I've got to start doing some bare metal finish. I'd just like a few tips if you have any. Even if you think I've heard the tip before, go ahead and post it.

Look for a thread by TexMurphy called "How I did the Metal". I followed his advice and liked the results.

Try using gradient fills for the basic rectangular shape.
Then use deform tools to get it to the wing and fuselage shapes, easy on square wings, PITA on stuff like Spit wings.
Heres a pic of an ongoing BMF Spit I'm playing with -
No highlights or lowlights, just basic gradient fills.

Did you use a 1-way gradient, or did you use the one that goes from color A to color B then back again? (the mirrored gradient)?

 looks cool Kev

Theres actually about 10 to 12 different colored points in the two gradients I used (wings / fuse).
Basically it goes -
Dark, light band, mid grey, then grey darkening to the rear.

Ahh, I was thinking of just using the Photoshop Gradient tool. Hrm.. well whenever I get any progress I'll be sure to get some peer review here on the forums, since this would be my first BMF skin so far.
