oops, so my new card requires a 6 pin power connector and my PSU doesnt have one. Hmmmm, geez.

hook up everthing
set to boot from cdrom or tap f-8 (gotta be quick) on start up
Chose boot from cdrom and toss your XP disk in
now hopfully it will load correctly and if your running a "Sata" hard drive you may have to toss that cd in when xp asks for it . (at the beginning it will ask ya if ya need to install a scsi or sata third party driver)
now let windows install ...
Then install DX9.0c (it needs this befor the video drivers and sometimes befor the Mainboard cd)
then i do the mainboard cd .. and after that the ATI drivers
When running 2 cdroms i ussually leave the OS cd in one the whole time and add the other stuff using the other cdrom
i then install everything else and leave the AV program /or firewalls to the very end then i put it online and do the final configs
Now didnt your vid card come with the adaptor plug/cord ??? or is it using a old flat 6 pin from the evil '486 / dell" days
(ps still on 56k here so i'm alittle S l o w )

no. I paid 343 dollars for the card and I have to go shopping for the adapter:mad: Oh well, Thanx for the help man. Turning on the switch is kinda scary, for some reason. I can burn up one of my companys Frequency drives and cost them 3500 bucks, no sweat, but this is somehow, different:D

I know the feeling ... (1500.00 in mine at work, 650.00 in my home pc)
the excitment grows as ur putting it together ... then comes impatience ...now the Scary pre button push (wondering if its gonna crack snapple pop )
Better yet Try a 1000 + hp Engine :D
also as always leave the timings /cpu at stock (normal) settings for the 1st few days and beshure its stable and the temps are in range .
Good luck .

AAARRGHHHH!!!!!! That damm cable is going to hold me up another week. I cant find it anywhere in town, i had to order it. They were suppose to ship with my card as there is a big picture of it with the accessories in the newegg view, but they sent me way too many of the other things I wont use and shorted my 6 pin connector adapter.
