Pearl Harbor should be P-40Bs, not Es. They weren't deployed to Hawaii, and I think there was only a very few (less than a full squadron) at Clark Field. The majority were stateside.
They could be added for the next phase though, as they did have them for New Guinea, Australia and Java.
Early engagements shouldn't have the B-26 yet I don't think, as any that were available at that time were the earlier version which was a lot less combat-worthy than our version.
And probably the Boston, not the A20 that early.
-
didn't F4u-1 operate from land bases in early 43?

The most widely used bomber in the early campaigns was the B-17.
There were B17s at Pearl Harbor too.
There were 6 B26s on Midway during that battle.
The F6F3 was used on carriers from 43 onward. The -5 would be more appropriate than the F4U-1 on CVs.
The F6F5 should be available through the end of the war once deployed.
Looks good though. Looking forward to flying some Japanese planes without running into LA7s and SpitXVIs.

The Pearl Harbor attack lasted two hours, your right P-40bs were at Pearl. The P-40E was in active squadron use elsewhere in the PTO. No need to make a two hour raid last for two days, so the P-40E should be included.
The Day of Infamy , affected the whole Pacific not just Pearl Harbor.

ya leave the P40E in the B is all but useless. game play should be the important and overriding factor. good job MrFork. Fencer the B-17s at pearl were D models IIRC. no tail gun for those puppies.

Not histoicaly correct. The B-17G was introduced onto the Fortress production line in July of 1943, and was destined to be produced in larger numbers than any other models.
The first mass flight of bombers (21 B-17Ds) from Hamilton Field, California, arrived at Hickam on May 14, 1941. By December 1941, the .Hawaiian Air Force had been an integrated command for slightly more than one year and consisted of 754 officers and 6,706 enlisted men, with 233 aircraft assigned at its three primary bases (Hickam, Wheeler, and Bellows).
They used the "G" because there was no "D" modles to be had.

I think he knows......... It was meant as a joke. However if we do decide to use Hollywood examples I saw some F6F's , and a couple of F4Us in the movie Midway.:aok
Come to think of it there were a couple of scenes in Midway that were cut from Battle of Britain showing those showing 109s.
:O
-
I think the used some clips from Tora Tora Tora in Midway as well. ( I thought I saw Mothra briefly but maybe not)
Anyone ever see that movie Air Force (i think) about the B-17 crew just after Pearl? The one where the cut a hole in the tail of their Fortress to put a .50 cal in it? Pretty cool show.Made during the war I believe.

Naw the 109's got lost :aok

There were quite a few shots taken from Tora Tora Tora. Lots of newsreel stuff too.
This movie came out in 1977 I think. I remember way back then I was a little dissapointed in the editing. F4F pilot ditches his F6F , and other little things like that. Shots of SB2C's landing on Essex class CV's , and AA gunners firing from Iowa class BB's which we did npt have at the Battle Of Midway, were a couple of editing mistakes.
But not bad for the 70's I guess.

HEY!
What about the movie where the Nimits went back in time Zeek vrs the F-14! Where are the F-14s!!!!!
hehehehe

Bah. Midway was dung, especially for the 70s. I think they rushed it into production just to have a war movie that could use the Sensurround technology. If memory serves, they even had the Hiryu getting sunk on May 5, not May 4.
Makes me mad just to think about it.

I agree it was dung OM. You got to remember movies like this were common. Towering Inferno, The Posiden, or, Poopside Down Adventure , Earthquake,
this was about the same quality. Pretty much as good as you could expect for that time. They basically made a 70's Disaster movie set in WWII.
After Patton there wasn't a decent WWII movie until Big Red 1, which came along around 1980. I remember seeing Midway in Sensurround, I'm suprised they didint go ahead and make it 3D as well.;)

John Garfield in Air Force. A classic, suspend your disbelief, movie. Great fun though with "Mary Ann" and her crew. She was an early B17D I think. Leaves for Pearl Harbor and arrives during the attack. Takes off again the next day and lands at Wake Island where they take the Marine's puppy to keep it safe. Then on to the Phillipines where Mary Ann is shot up and bellied in. The pilot is wounded the crew bails out except for Garfield who was a washed out pilot cadet. He bellies in the B17. The Phillipines are about to fall, but the gallant crew of the Mary Ann, now with a reformed P39 pilot taking over for the dead pilot, somehow repair the badly damaged Mary Ann and get her out of there, but not before the 'kid' on the crew is machine gunned in his chute. Not to worry though, Garfield and the old guy on the crew hand hold 30 cals and shoot down the evil Japanese plane.
Garfield, to trick the Japanese has cut the tail cone off the 17 and put in a 'stinger' to surprise them. Off they go in Mary Ann when lo and behold its the entire Japanese navy below them. Quick radio call and planes arrive from everywhere with Mary Ann leading the attack. Soon the Japanese fleet is sunk and the USAAF has saved the day. Sadly Mary Ann has to belly it in to the surf.
Ahh what a great flick :)
BTW there were B17Es at Hickam field along with the earlier models.

And then the Japanese pilot bellies it in and crawls from the burning wreckage only to be hosed by the old man and his belt fed .30 cal. The original Rambo:D
