My daughter and son-in-law (Keith) are living with us until he graduates college in May of 2007. He recently returned from 16 months in Iraq with the 69th INF. He's still in the NY National Guard.
He has shown interest in playing AH2, so I have let him play on my account for the past couple of months.
Yesterday, I set him up with a two-week account so that he could fly when ever it suited him. I expect that this will transform into a paying account pretty quick as he had a lot of fun last evening.
When I set up the account I asked him what user name he wanted... Looking at my desk he saw the draft of an article I have working on about Elwyn Righetti (called the King of Strafers within the 8th AF) and said, "how about Righetti?"
Ok, Righetti it is.
After setting up his hardware, I logged into the MA and created a squadron for him, the 55th FG and assigned him to the Rooks (where I fly), although he may change that.
Now, understand that Keith has been playing for a few months and gets a lot of coaching from me, so he's not a raw noob. He does tend to stick to buffs and attack sorties though.
Last evening he logged into the TA and flew around for a while, flying a few duels, including one with a nice fellow named Popapup in a Niki (Keith was in a Spit8). He more than held his own, showing me that he has learned much of what I tried to teach him about controlling a fight.
His next stop was the MA. This morning he told me that last night he flew four sorties and landed 7 kills, and managed to avoid being shot down, which is better than he usually does. I asked him what planes he had flown and he said, "P-51 and P-38."
However, he was all excited about a kill he had while flying an A-20G. He apparently engaged a P-47 in a brawl and clobbered it. He was excited because he didn't drop any of his bombs, but "fought with bombs on the wings, it was really cool!"
So, when you see him in the TA or MA, give him a howdy. He lost two good friends while in Iraq and he still has trouble sleeping some nights... AH2 helps him briefly forget and pass the time when he can't sleep.
My regards,
Widewing

Its the least we can do for a man who has risked his life for our saftey, I'll keep an eye out for rook A20s and mustangs :)
S! and welcome Righetti.

Done deal Widewing. He's more than welcome to wing with The Flying Circus (Bishops).
A big /O to Keith for his sacrifice.

Keith said that he had a nice conversation with Batfink last night. I'm assuming that was you. Thanks for being kind to him, I personally appreciate it very much.

The pleasure was all mine, we had a very pleasant conversation after he shot down my IL2 in his A20 + bombs!!
I had gone NOE to an enemy base and shot down a spit, then a P38, when suddenly this havoc came in close behind me and shreded one of my wings in one pass!
heres a 1 min film: http://www.freeroleentertainment.com/film241.ahf

Later the same night I saw 'Righetti landed 3 kills in an SBD of 55thFG' a number of times.
We need more pilots flying less reputed rides, two thumbs up!

Looks like he has his doors open too...quite a feat, I must say. :aok
I fly the Yak-9T, IL-2, and now the Mossie just for that reason. :D
I'll be sure to help him when I see him...if he needs it. :p

He didn't tell me he shot you down, just that you two had a conversation. LOL. He was probably lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
He mentioned flying the SBD and shooting down 3 or 4 while defending against a big raid before being overwhelmed. I didn't realize he was flying it a lot.
He and my daughter left for Tampa today (we live up on Long Island) to visit his parents. They get home late Wednesday night. So, I'll ask about this.
He's not a great pilot, barely average, if that. He likes flying small bombers and I think it's because he likes the external F3 view. I believe he got into this habit by flying offline for a few months. He runs hot and cold. Some weeks he'll fly almost every night, other weeks not at all. I guess it depends on how much work he has to do for school (he's about a year shy of getting his bachelors in criminal science. His Guard unit deploying to Iraq caused him to lose almost two years.... He's repeating several courses because he had to drop them to ship out.
He doesn't read the BBS, but I'll have him read this thread.
Once again, thanks for being kind to him, he's a really good kid (23 years old).
My regards,
Widewing
