Title: Kermit's First Film
Post by: Kermit de frog on March 19, 2006, 01:07:49 AM
Well, after a frekin 2 hours getting my stupid ftp server to work.  I finally got it.  Website will be done later if I feel like it.  I only bought it to get the ftp thingy.

Here is the low res video.

1 week ago, I was flying with aldaris and we decided to wing up.  I then decided to try out fraps for the first time.  Then I said, hey, I should make a film of this.  So I did.  I had to get all the software, learn how to use it and finally put together this movie.  It's my first film so I'll use it as a learning experience.

Anyways, It's like an After Action Report, but in video format, not text, obviously

Enjoy:)

512x384  It's 16x9 resolution.  I had to encode it twice to get the file size down.

Carrier Sortie (http://ftp://anonymous%40lgmfilms.net:anonymous%40lgmfilms.net@lgmfilms.net/Carrier%20Sortie%20Anamorphic.zip)

Argh, I figured out that my Center Channel was turned up more than the rest of my audio channels.  After I normalized it, I can hear that the vox is low.  I'm re rendering it tonight.  I'll re encode it tomorrow morning and then spend an hour uploading it again.  Original link should work.  Link might not work during the upload process.  Thanks for viewing my film and letting me know about the low audio.

If ya already downloaded it. Just turn up your center channel

BTW, NICE avatar Betty :)

GREAT MOVIE Kermit!!! >>S<<

I really loved it. TopGun for TBMs - hehe. And nice formation takeoffs/landings there.

Just one tiny mistake: It was definitly CV 13 and A1, not C105/A25 ;) :t *ducks and runs*

Thanks for making and sharing that.

The landings were done by Ren, followed by gopher? golfer? I forgot how to spell his name :)

also the torpedo drops were done by them.

In the actual mission, me and aldaris tried to hit that cv twice.  we died each time:)  but it's my movie and i can change the ending to my liking.

Only took an hour to edit sound for 5.1 surround sound.

Thanks for watching Schatzi

zOMFG 182 mb.

Edit: Just watched it. Very creative. The only thing I can say is that at 7:25 minutes, it should be alot smaller than 191 megs unzipped. What did you use to render this?

Window encoder 9.0

VBR quality 100 for video
Its the sound that hurts me.   Audio is 128kbps 44khz sample rate for 6 channels of audio.

Original file is 237MB.  I then rendered it in a stand alone encoder by windows  to 512x384 4:3 ratio and just used anamophic pixels to get 16x9
I then zipped it to prevent people from not saving and just clicking on link.  zip file does not help reduce size at all. :(

zip files mainly help to reduce files that involve text, not media files. Although it will reduce the size, not by much.

One thing you have to look at is how many people are going to actually take the time to download such a huge film. IMO it is ok to sacrifice things such as intense audio configurations for a dramaticly reduced file size. The other alternative is getting ahold of sony Acid pro which will allow you to mix the sounds and then combine them into one single track making for a simpler file that will be rendered in the final process.

Nice work Kermit, some of them angles were very impressive and I loved the smoothness that the Tracker IR gives.

My site's bandwidth has been exceeded.:D

I can't even look at my website. LOL

I'll be upgrading my bandwidth 3 fold in 2 weeks, so in the mean time, I'll try to add more to my film when I get some free time.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm downloading it now, so looks like its available again.

d/l estimated at 24 mins with 1mb dsl.

edit: holy crap its now d/l @113kb/second on a 1mb line, thats hot considering my usual d/l is around 30kb tops.

ok now that for me rates as clearly the best aces high movie i have seen, brilliant.

loved the widescreen and image quality was great.

well worth the large d/l.

Bogie, I disabled the link for technical reason.

I'm going to add scenes to the movie as well as make a stereo version.

I enabled my computer to see only 2 speakers, and that was producing low audio for some of the voices.  Windows media player automactically makes it stereo for those who only have 2 speakers on there computer.

Those with surround sound enabled properly on their computer should have heard it fine as well as hear some effects added to the film.

For those who watched the film on a 5.1 sound system and still could not hear the voices well, might want to check their settings.

I'll work on the film this weekend and release a new version sometime next week.

I took a week's break and just last week, decided to start on this project again.
I've got a new scene in it as well as a few glitches fixed.

I just need to add the voice dialogue and then adjust the sounds.

The final version should be done by Friday night or saturday afternoon.

Film is now 10 minutes and 27 seconds long.   I'm trying to shave off a few seconds though.  I'd like to get it down to 10min even.
