Title: Piper Grasshopper
Post by: GlacierGirl on March 19, 2006, 01:38:46 AM: I think it would be cool to have a Piper Grasshopper to pick up downed pilots and drop smoke to mark targets for GVs or artilary, and just to cruse around in.

They had some that were even troop carriers, a replacement for the c-47 to be used at vehicle bases maybe?

Or just to pick up downed pilots and stuff, cuz ive seen alot of times where ppl wished they could be picked up. what do you guys think of the grasshopper?:aok

How about when an 'Officer' gets to an airfield the time to repair is halved because the 'Officer' takes charge. Then you can pick-up downed pilots, return them to base and they can reclaim their perks.

I'm for it.

now all we need to do is get HItech to see the post and think about adding the grasshopper and some of the other planes and helecopters you guys have mentioned. i like that idea about what would happen if the officer got there. and how downed pilots would reclaim their perks. good thinking guys. :aok

Post by: G0ALY on March 21, 2006, 07:32:39 AM: I like the Westland Lysander. In addition to the downed pilot pickup, or artillery spotting roles (should they ever be added) it could also carry a small amount of supplies.

It had a forward firing armament of 2 .303s and a defensive .303 in the gunners position. Some variants had twin .303s in the gunners’ position. The stub wings on the wheel spats could each carry a single 250lb, 2 125lb or 8 20lb bombs. An additional 4 20lb bombs or 4 smoke markers could be carried on the fuselage.

I think the addition of minimally armed STOL aircraft assigned to Vehicle bases would be an interesting option.

Post by: Martyn on March 21, 2006, 07:36:00 AM: I used to know a Lysander pilot - flew with coastal command spotting downed pilots and vectored rescue launches to them. Also checked up on shipping - looking out for e-boats and such.

They dont seem like they would be to hard to make, and it would only add to the good qualities of the game. we just need to get HT to see our post.:aok
