I sees 'em
I scrolled around the 2nd for a couple minutes before finding the wildcat (initially I thought it might have been a photo of a particularly nice shade of blue).
Thats a rare site, I've never seen one flying.

The P-38 White Lightning used to be part of the Confederate Air Force - I saw it once at the Pine Bluff Air Show back when I was a Kid. Impressive plane though I always wished they had painted it in Military Colors.

Was it not destroyed in a crash?

Leftie Gardner owned White Lightning.

His son bellied it in after a fuel line let go, caught fire in the accessory section of the left engine, and the aircraft sustained considerable damage.

Last year, Flying Bulls, the aviation arm of Red Bull, purchased the aircraft and it is currently under rebuild.  I know that they plan to finish it polished, but not original, as in it will retain the early cowling on an L model aircraft as well as omit the superchargers and distinctive football intakes.  It also is being "tricked out" and will in no way resemble a wartime aircraft.

Ugh!  I was hoping they might take it back all the way if they weren't going to leave it in White Lightnin colors.

Gonna have to win that lottery so I can do one right :)

OMG OMG OMG P-40E Woooooooo, that airshow officially rocks!

Why on earth would anybody buy a P38 and not put it back to origional condition. That really pi$$es me off. there are only like 6 P38s that can still fly and they wanna mess with it and make the plane differant. i hope they dont do any perminant modifications to it that wernt on the plane straight out of the factory in 1943

I got to see a P38F fly, it was Glacier Girl in Middlesborrow kentucky, Piloted by Steve Hinton who flew the planes in Baa Baa Black Sheep and Pearl Harbor. Real nice guy. That Plane is Amazing, you could feel the engine in your chest as he flew by about 50 feet above our heads, guess where i got my name haha. there are some pictures of it on my squads web site in the Photos section

That statement is incorrect.
