I have a couple wishes to present.
1. We need to make planning bombing missions fun. As it is now, its always on the fly. Nothing is really planned like a ww2 bomber mission.
I see we will be getting breifing rooms in the new setup which is great. But the targets themselves need to be attended to as well.
If we plan for 15 minutes to attack a target, take 45 minutes to get there, and destroy it, but it comes back up in 15 minutes, even before we get back to land, it doesnt seem like it was worth the effort.
I have a couple of suggestions.
A. Make it so the hangers are harder, but stay down longer. But never stop producing aircraft of some kind. Nothing kills an attack quicker than taking the enemy out of the fight. Everyone leaves and its a waste of time.
When a hanger is killed, that base's ENY level is adjusted to reflect damage, and the better planes are unavailable. For every hangar killed, the ENY level is adjusted. Finally when the last hanger is killed, only the worst planes are available. Each hanger stays dead for 1/2 hour.
B. Each hangar is hardened, and stays down longer, but each hanger has a random planeset attached to them. Take a small airfield. Say the lone FH produces the best planes, the southern bigpad FH produces mid-range planes, and the northern one produces the low end planes. This is random and the attacker wouldnt know which one to kill to kill the best planes. As before, the base never totally loses all its plane, the worst always being able to up there.
This way the battle can continue. The same can be done with the VH. The hanger is hardened, and stays down longer, but when it dies, the M3 and M8 are always available, but the Tigers, flaks and better gvs are not.
As far as ord and troops, instead of one guy porking a front line, the damaged base would have less ord to choose from. If the hardend ord is hit (taking atlest 2 1000lbers to kill an ammo bunker) then it is blown up. However, rather than removing the ord from play, the list is adjusted. Now that base can only arm its planes with 100 or 250lb bombs. Rockets are out of play as well.
The trrops if hit(hardened as well) then troops instead of 10 boarding a C47 or M3, are cut in half, with only 5 boarding. This would require two c47s or M3s to drop on a base for capture, but the battle can continue, rather than the way it is now, one guy ruining the battle by a simple pork.
2. Instead of spawning in a plane on the runway, it would be nice to actually have to run out of the tower to man your plane. Imagine all the squishys we could pop running to their planes sitting on the apron. :)

thats excellent idea

Yeah ... this idea was floated before when ENY reared it's ugly head the first time.
Having troops cut in half instead of gone completely if barracks go down is a wonderful idea.
Maybe having the ordinance bunker go down takes away bombs of 500 pounds and higher, but lets you keep 250 pounders and below, and rockets. Which would put a crimp into the bananas who park Panzers in hangars at a base about to fall.
Putting both these into effect more or less nullifies porking as a way to stall a front. It slows it down, and raises the level of difficulty needed to capture a base - so the porkers can still "help their team" by drilling into outhouses.
Having hangars affect the ENY at a base is also a great idea. Especially if they're hardened. The only down side I see to this (and one I'm sure HT sees) is that it means the side in the barrel will need to fight their way out using crap planes, because their hangars will be down more often than not. That said, I think the basic premise that some planes will always be available at a base, no matter how beat to crap it is is a valid one. There's enough decent 40 ENY planes to make this work - that means both the vultching attackers and the HO'ing defenders get more targets.

Good ideas, but how difficult would it be to code it all into the game? I like the idea of maybe lowering the troops by hitting the barracks. It should already take more than one C-47 to capture a base, make it a bit harder to coordinate the attack that way. It also gives the vulched defenders more chances of stopping the capture.

It'll be interesting to see what they have come up with for ToD.
