noticed since the update..when i'm firing the sight shakes around so bad it's hard to focus...
-
its a feature now.
I beleive pyro said it in the patch notes "add gun shaking to gunners positions"
-
Yep, it’s a feature. Apparently, the bombers where able to shoot down fighters, and we just can't have things like that happening. So gun shake was added to all gun positions.
-
i think its a tad bit to..(shakey)..makes my eyes cross... ...maybe it will take some getting used to....we'll see
-
I say try it for awhile. It's a nice feature.
-
I little should be okay, but I think it needs to be toned down some! :O
-
It just seems wrong in the Osty. the Osty fires boom boom boom boom and seems like it should have more of a recoil effect after each shot. The way it is now feels more like what the M16 probably felt like with the quad 50's blazing away.
-
I think the gun shake is stupid, same thing with the gun shake in the bombers.
But....if it makes it so that the LTARs cant 1-ping me in an Ostwind from 3k out.....well then its Christmas morning for me :)
-
You would think 25 tons of steel would make a solid gun mount.

You would think a 30 calibre machine gun wouldn't have much recoil on a Panzer either...

agreed... the shake in the Osti needs to be toned down
-
Agreed.
-
The Osti shake is WAAAYYY overdone, and Flayd is right, the shake snychs with a .50 cal, not a 37 mm firing a round about 3 times every 2 seconds.
There was a good reason real planes would not fly anywhere near a real osti unless it's guns were racked to the maintenance position. To do so meant you were going to be a flying piece of swiss cheese, no doubt about it.
I also don't think modifcations ought to be done to compensate for people who take the time and effort to become masters of one aspect of legitimate game play - like the LTARs in Ostis. Most people could not go get 7 or 9 kills in a tempest in one sortie, so do we have to dumb down the tempest because some people can?
What IS the purpose of having an Osti in the first place? Isn't it to pose a threat to airplanes close in to the field when ack goes down? What's the point of having them if they DON'T pose much of a threat? The whole concept of a strategic game is to make it so just when you think you have it wired, the other guy can slam the brakes on your "piece of cake" operation, forcing you to figure a way around it. There are plenty of ways around an Osti without making it so docile any plane can casually sweep by and toast it with a single strafe.

This brings up something that I always wondered about even before this patch.
When I'm in an Osti and pull the trigger I hear the "boom boom boom". What I don't understand is why I hear "rat tat tat tat tat" from the other Osti's in the area...it's as if they are rapid fire like a machine gun. Is this normal?
Oh, shaking bad.
-
donzo. if you are using a sound pack then the 37mm in your osty will sound off like what is in your osty sounds folder to get the sound the same from external sounds you need to copy the sound of the 37mm from your osty folder and put it outside the folder but you will have to rename or delete the 37mm sound that is already there

Thanks pa!

Here's a scenario...I'm usually decent from a 1000 in.. had a mustang
dive on me last night, and last reading i read was was 400 before he pulled out...i never touched him...of course, he took my turret out.
-
I agree with everyone else the Jello shaking has got to go, I get a headache from it. :furious
-
I don't mind SOME shaking, but I have to agree with the others who bring out the point about the gun randomization & the shaking....having both is neutering the ostie a bit too much IMO.
I had trouble hitting planes diving straight at me @ less than 1000 out (sometimes); but I can nail bombers so high overhead they don't have icons (30,000+ ft?) after figuring out how to lead them....granted I only land a hit or two in a pass, but those one or two hits seem to do more damage than low level hits.

Six Miles? Icons go away at 6K. Technically, from my understanding, the Osti only can shoot 3K. And the smoothing code makes the plane do that little slidey thing at 2.5K so you're not actually tracking it's real position.
OF course I could have bad info also.
-
It is hard enough to hit anything with the Osti without making it harder. Also, I don't think the Osti is any good past 2.5K as it was explained to me.
-
I am probably the best Ostwind gunner in the game...I have never hit anything, a buff or otherwise, beyond 3.5k. I have never hit a single engine fighter beyond 2.5k.

Yeah...strange isn't it? Of course if it were an everyday thing I wouldn't have mentioned it. I can't remember the last guy I hit & actually killed one of his buffs out of icon range; but we had a conversation about it in P.M. I wish I could remember his I.D. If that were the only time I had done it I wouldn't even have mentioned it; but I have hit buffs out of icon range with field guns/osties more than a dozen times. When I hit them that high...one hit almost always makes a smoke trail but from 800 it takes three or four hits to show some damage....sometimes....not always.
B.T.W. nice to finally meet the most humble ostie gunner on the game.
I think I'll start filming my 37mm outings & the next time I nail one at that immpossible range I'll post it.

Films don't work in Osti, the viewer does not move with the traverse of the turret it stays centered relative to the facing of the chassis...I wish it did work...
