I CANT TAKE these mods anymore. Today i got muted for saying "damn mission bug" thats it nothing more...before I cound say mission back up MUTE. Then i get back after 10 mins and tell the mod that was unfair. 10 mins later Mod thinks hes all funny and says Sry viper been busy this is from HTC MUTE 10 mins. Then someone on 200 was yelling i told him to calm down mod might get ya he got me for saying Damn mission bug. Mod comes on Viper215 you know thats not true MUTE. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. PLEASE do something about this. He sent me the message right as im dropping on cv and messed up my drop.:rolleyes:

I am sure the mods would like to be done with you too.
Replace your m's with r's and you are ok. Yes, he was strict with the swearing rule, but rules are meant to be applied, aren't they?
And honestly, after he got you the first time, why did you expect he wouldn't the second time?

Mods are human. Humans with power are vulnerable to abuse of power. You will get no sympathy if you were in the wrong first even if the mod gave you a little more just cause he could. It's like when the police finally get to the guy they've been chasing, he can drop to the ground and spread eagle and still one of the police are gonna knee him extra hard in the spine for running in the first place. Let him ask the police why and he will get another even harder for being a smartarse even though the law does not allow a police to do this legally. In my humble opinion, I think there are mods that aren't good at dealing with 200 and there are mods that are very good at dealing with 200. You just happened to get one of the mods that got his knee ready for you to respond! :aok

Here's the deal. We as individuals are responsible for what comes out of our mouths or what we type on our keyboards.
It seems pretty clear what is ok in AH and what isn't.
You control yourself and mods are a non-factor.

i usually have a mod problem but the mod today was kind of cool....called someone gay and only got a warning. a nice message though

I suggested someone was cheating (on 200) and got the MOD warning.
Simple, I won't do it again. This isn't rocket science. I have kids around and welcome the tightening of the rules.

Viper - You got to rise above that. If your going to swear, swear like the English do. They're very good at it and extremely polite I might add (Except for that Hammy fella sometimes - jk).
i.e.
Instead of "Blank" Mission Bug use Bloody Mission Bug
Instead of "John Doe" you "Blank" "Blank" "Blank" use John Doe your quite a bugger you are!
You sweared - You did it politely and you vented your focused aggressive stress on 200 without any profanity at all.

I got muted for the 1st time today after 3.5 years of playing.... ******* was the word I think....... Yeah that was it.

It is interesting that, in our society today, a word like "bloody" in the context above is perfectly fine, yet a word like "****ing" in the same position throws people into hysterics...despite the fact that they mean exactly the same thing in that context.

To me this sounds like a cry for attention. Not only did you get some special attention in the MA , now your getting some more in here . Ive seen children act like this , dont worry , you'll grow out of it . 8)

ive been pretty bad at times but im not blatantly perverse about degrading somebody...all in all id say we all get away with plenty on 200..the thing is one offense will get you muted just as quick as your 100th offense..consistancy seems to be the major flaw with the mods, but i get mad at em for a minute than I forget about it....

Viper, I think you're missing another point here. Regardless of who's CV it was, many of us hate to see them die -- because a CV close to a base is usually a recipe for a sustained fun fight. I've heard friendlies get upset when other friendlies kill an enemy CV, because to them the fun is in the fight.
As to the primary thread complaint -- I've heard it said that overuse of profanity is a mark of verbal incompetence, and it seems to me that you get noticed more, and are more effective, if you cuss less. In fact, you might find you're in less trouble and make even more impact using massive understatement to make your point. (This technique was also pioneered by the Brits, I believe -- "bit of a sticky wicket, what?" at a Rourke's Drift....)
So, try something like "I am most displeased," or "Thats.....unfortunate." Be different -- stand out from the crowd -- get things done.
Oh, and dont get muted.

I've giving the "WTFG" on Country and (Ch.1/200) for 4 years. I've NEVER been muted ONCE for that, why? It's the context.

Tonight I got muted for the first time and I honestly have no idea why.
All I know is someone asked us where our formation was going and I replied "uhhhh....we're going to 18."
Next thing ya know I'm muted for 10 minutes. No cursing, no abusive language, nothing. I don't get it. I asked the guys around me on local why I got muted and they had no idea either.
Should I expect random mutings? If there is an extra charge for that please mark my account "do not randomly mute him because he won't pay the extra charge."
I'm fairly ticked off about it. Ticked enough to post, anyhow.
/don't start me about the game blowing up when I was in a 234 formation causing me to lose those perkies.....the only time the game ever a-sploded on me too! Grrrrrr

I got warned for typing :lol Then not 10 minutes later some guy type's FU and nothing. Just seems like the MOD's can be a little bit "selective" in their decisions on who is being naughty. I also got warned for saying "queer". I guess this is a bad word now so I have contacted ABC to let them know that "Queer Eye for the Straight guy" is unacceptable and I have taken them off of my "favorite channel" list on my dish. I have no problem with following "MOD" rules but, they better be the same rules for everyone all the time.

Mods are players too. Usually, somebody on local or squad (when i was in one) would let me know somebody was talking to me on 200. If I'm in a fight, I'm too busy to read 200. If I'm in the hangar, then it's alot easier to see what's going on. In fact, I've been suprised by how many kills I've landed at times because I never saw the death message.
Why should I expect mods to be any different?

So, what your telling me is it's ok to type profanity as long as the MOD is busy with a furball?:lol I sure hope that the "kids" and the people that can't handle profanity aren't looking at text when the MOD is "busy".

No, I'm saying it's like a referee. I was a soccer ref for 6 years, dealt with the psychos. You can't see everything at once, all you can hope for is mature players and do your best. If somebody is going to break the rules and you don't see it, they'll keep doing it and you'll catch them eventually. if it's really bad, you throw them out.
Not really fair to go screaming at them for it. It's an annoying, thankless job.

I sure hope you don't think I'm "screaming" at anyone. I'm sure being a MOD or soccer ref (i guess..i wouldn't know) is a hard job. I wouldn't want to do it. However, it's obvious to me that at times there are NO MOD's on because I've seen some pretty bad stuff typed.
Seriously though, do you REALLY think that typing is offensive to someone? And if so well......then you (they) must lead a really sheltered and unrealistic life. That to me is just someone looking for a reason to feel the MOD power. If they are gonna warn me for then I'm sorry but I find offensive also. I mean after all it is also the first letter in a four letter word.
I guess I'm just upset because I have been playing a year now and have seen that typed many, many, many time's and 4 weeks ago I type it and get a message from the MOD and I've seen it typed many, many times since. So, I guess I must have just caught the MOD on a bad night. It's the only explaination I can think of.

1) The bracketed F is in the filter list. You got an auto-warn from the server.
2) And you do not know if someone else gets warned.
3) Never use others actions to defend your own.
