hehe one less F50 and the rest has gone up in value... will prolly get fixed tho
how many of them did they make?
-
They say it takes 2 years to get one...price tag 3 million dollars
-
Looks way too good for a 200 MPH crash. There should have been far more damage.
-
f50 is ugly...reminds me of an edsel
the 550 on the other hand...

That is not a 550 it is a 360, this is a 550.

The man who wrecked it was the owner, doing 162 MPH, and had a BAC of .09. He's screwed.
"As if that weren't enough, a leading Scottish bank has told sheriff's investigators that it may own the destroyed car, which was one of only 400 made. And sheriff's Sgt. Phil Brooks said Monday that detectives are trying to figure out why Scotland Yard in London listed as stolen another exotic car that Eriksson owns, a Mercedes SLR."

This Enzo was wrecked here in Houston. 85 in a 35 on Allen Parkway, with traction control turned off.

That's not an F50, that's an Enzo. Both Enzos & F50s were limited runs of 349 cars. After customer demand increased, they made 50 more Enzo's, bringing it up to 399. One additional Enzo was built, and the #400 car was presented to Pope John Paul II, who had it auctioned off for charity. iirc, it went to Tsunami relief and sold for over $1.2 mil US.
iirc, the body wasn't designed by an Italian, but by a Japanese gentleman working for Pininfarina.

no such animal. it's what broke folks say to comfort themselves. there is an axiom that states if it has wheels or tits it will give you problems. I suspect both were in function in this accident.

thanks Monk...I googled ferrari 550 and didn't pay attention to the picture I was posting...(but both the 360 and the 550 are a whole lot better looking than the f50 imo) (acutally, the only ferrari I have not liked is the f50)
-
Your welcome. I only like the older Ferraris, 250's 330's and............

I don't know storch. For the past 4 years I've fixed a keel on a particular sail boat. Every year when this guy comes to Newport he smacks the same rock. As a matter of fact he comes into the shop and laughs about it.
Hell I love it ,it's like $$ in the bank.
Hmmm matter of fact he is due in end of May.

That happened about 2 weeks ago near here, on the 1 highway north of Malibu (I think, maybe Ventura). Those cars are built of the same principle as the F1 racers, and are made to fall apart like that when in an accident. the owner only had minor abrasions and claimed "A German friend" was driving it, but they found his blood on the steering wheel.
-
it may have been designed to do that, but they never intended it to hit a light pole, sliding sideways across an embankment, going 160!!!!!!
-
ouch

hmmm. maybe we should add sails and propellers to that as well.

The current owner is Don Wallace of Tampa, Florida, who is not Catholic. In fact, he's a Jehovah's Witness and owns an RV dealership. He's also one of the wealthiest men in the greater Tampa Bay area. He started out with two trailers and built his business up to a multi-million-dollar operation.

Yup read about it the other day and was going to post it but I was running late.
Hit a utility pole at around 100mph (musta only been in second gear lol)
Suffered a minor cut on his foreheadd but otherwise walked away unscathedif I remember correctly
Damn shame about the car though.
Cause THAT is a car

Now he's in jail, and INS put a hold on him so he is being held without bond.
"Detectives concluded that the wrecked Enzo Ferrari -- one of only 400 made -- along with a Mercedes and another Enzo Ferrari in Stefan Eriksson's collection were actually owned by British financial institutions, said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.
Eriksson apparently brought the cars to Los Angeles when he moved from Britain last year, but the financial institutions that held the titles said his payments had lapsed."

Proof that there are people with more money that brains. At least in the street smart side of the world. BTW I would hate to know I had to make a car payment on something that cost that much money. Hell if I wanted to buy one it would be a cash payment to hell with financing those rides. Its no wonder the company he used to work for filed for bankruptcy.
The Ferrari crash spun into a web of mystery when Eriksson told authorities that he was only a passenger in the car and that the driver was a German acquaintance he knew only as Dietrich. He said Dietrich ran into the hills, but a search by sheriff's deputies turned up no one.
Officials have questioned Eriksson's story, noting that only the driver's side air bag had blood on it and Eriksson had a cut lip. The front of the red Ferrari crumpled when it slammed into a poll on the Pacific Coast Highway on February 21.
Eriksson was an executive with Gizmondo, a European video game company that filed for bankruptcy.

200 MPH car.....35 MPH driver.

He's in it deep now.

This is turning into an interesting story. A pretty good summary (and a ton of photos) can be found here (http://www.wreckedexotics.com/special/enzo/).
I don't particularly care about the crash. 150 on anything with a bump will send you flying. I don't even care who was/wasn't driving. I do find the Swedish Mafia bilking investors of nearly $400 million with the Gizmondo device being rather incredible.

Here's what a ferrari looks like after two people (one being an off-duty CHIPS officer) do stupid things with fast ferarri's: (And die due to the result of negligent driving)

The man who was driving the Ferrari was a CEO of Gizmondo, the company that went bankrupt, taking Tiger Telematics with it.
