How about an icon in the text line that indicates what country you fly for when on 200 and also an icon displayed when you land kills.
-
actually not bad idea...
though an icon might be hard, how about
B
K
R
SYSTEM: B Jonsmith landed 5 kills.....
200K: hi
200R: rtfm n00b

Interesting. Well they have icons by the fields on the map. Why not just put those icons on like this:
200:wetrat: what just happened?
200:astone: GRRRRRr...
-
i may be wrong, but i think the text system uses a plain unicode font, like arial or something. i would guess the "icon" is a graphic along with the plane tag / base tag stuff.
i could be off, but i think the 2 systems use a different way of rendering, and you can probably not intergrate the 2.

LOL I fly as Wheez and its John not Jon.

Funny...I posted this idea 8 months ago and everyone hated it! haha
(R) (B) (K) would be sufficient IMO
-
Cav, I liked it when you posted it before!
I don't think text would be good enough. Too many newbies (and there are plenty of them) saying "whats' that letter by my name?!?!"
I think it would be easy enough to code in a small icon as a part of the font, then just put the letter for that icon in and it displays as a graphic (but it's really a font).

yeah, you could do that, but would that font then have to be installed on each players PC? right now AH could just be using arial from the system fonts.
i dont know if a font can be uase by an application if it is not officially installed on the local PC.
if they do handle it that way, they would have to own the rights to the font to have the game installer install the font into the system also (not a big deal for the application, it's the rights i am worried about)

I like the idea. Could they have it installed to each local pc when they put the new version of AH? :aok

I don't think AH uses a font. Too risky. What if (just what if) there was no font XXX on that computer? Then you're screwed.
Plus, going by the odd graphic glitches by "g"s when a name shows up in the upper screen (when vox is used) I'm betting it's an internal font (compiled into the executable). That means they should be able to do whatever they want. :p
