Title: Jeep Bug or?
Post by: dedalos on March 23, 2006, 02:55:30 PM
Fired 3 or 4 20s at a Jeep last night.  I knew I was going to miss but fired any way.  The rounds hit the grownd to its right.  The Jeep went boom boom.  I know 20mm act like atom bombs when the hit the grownd but maybe the Jeep is a litle too soft?  Maybe have it take a direct hit before it explodes? or fix the effect of cannon on the grownd?

The jeep doesn't have armour and the 20mm has small explosoins.  I think its fine also.

You have a vehicle with ZERO protection for driver aside from the engine block.  A direct hit should not be required.  The tiniest fragment in the skull suffices.

It should show as going through, as it's more overpenetration then anything.  I think an AP round will kill an M3 now though.  Used to have to use HE to kill halftracks.  Jeep makes a nice boom against 40MM though:D

Good answers.  One problem though.  20mm does not equal a grenade.  If it did and I put one in your plains tail or wing you would go down.  It takes several 20mms to kill a plane.  It takes a couple hitting several feet away from a target to kill it.  Thats not right but we have been down this path before, so I will drop it.

FYI, there is a ground effect on 20mms.  Next time you try to vulch try this.  Fire a few rounds close to theplane on the ground.  Do not hit the plane.  Just a very short burst close to it.  Next, try hiting the plane with the same number of rounds and see the difference for yourself.

In anycase, I don't mind a few easy kills by not having to even hit my target :D
