Does anyone know the object name of the Carrier AA (Anti-Aircraft) guns. I'm trying to make a custom built airfield with some AA guns. Also, does anyone know the object name of the Destroyer's 8" triple barrell HE guns? If nobody knows their names, where can I find them in my TE/OE/CE package?
If their not included, does anyone know where I can download or find them so I can use them?
Thanks in advance:cool:

You cannot take guns from ships.

Manned ack is a big enough pain without having to fly through those 4x40mm shredders.

Just for the record, the big ship with the wood deck and the 8" triple guns is not a destroyer, nor is it a battleship. It is a cruiser. The small ships are the destroyers.
kind of a pet peeve

I thought it was a battleship guess I was wrong:huh

For the record...
The carrier is an Essex-class CV.
The heavy cruiser is a Baltimore-class CA
Now for my "pet peeve" on the ships....
The small ships are NOT, in fact, destroyers, but destroyer escorts. Specifically, they belong to either of the so-called TEV or WGT classes. The TEVs and WGTs were identical externally, and match the shape of the DE in AH, but had different propulsion systems. The TEVs had turbo-electric drive and the WGTs had Westinghouse geared turbines. but both systems gave the same performance. The TEVs and WGTs were the only DEs built with 5" guns, although all supposedly could carry them and a few of the other varieties were so re-armed during the war. However, the vast majority of DEs had 3x3" guns instead of our 2x5" guns.
I don't mind so much folks calling these DEs "DDs" in AH. What annoys me is having DEs at all. In real life, most DEs topped out at 20 knots, although our TEV/WGT types were the fastest and could reach maybe 22-23 on a good day. This was entirely too slow for them to serve with carrier battlegroups, and so they never did. They were designed (at Brit request) to escort slow convoys, and thus didn't need that much speed. The only carriers that DEs ever hung out with were the little CVEs which, being converted cargo ships to begin with, weren't any faster.
Thus, it looks bizarre to me to see a fleet carrier and heavy cruiser tearing along in AH surrounded by such inappropriate DEs. Granted, all ships in AH move too fast (nearly 50 knots) in the interests of game play, but with the CV and CA able to reach the mid-30s in real life, that isn't too bad as concerns them. But it's just wrong to have little 20-knot DEs keeping pace with them :).

I'm not after the acks. I'm after the Anti-Aircraft 5" double-barrel guns. And i'm after the Highly-Explosive 8" triple-barrel guns. I would use these guns on a new malta map i'm attempting to build.
A land-to-sea battle designated "King of the Hill". But to make it fun, we have to make it difficult for the enemy by hiding all these guns on the island. Not only to shoot down planes, but if CV's get too close to land, the triple barrel HE gun will definatly use them for target practice.

Hey Bullethead, nice info there. I appreciate learning things in History.:aok

The 5" proximity fussed shells in our 5" guns were never allow to be used on land during the war. Saddly they were still classified Top Secret untill very recently and the developers at Raytheon (iirc) never got credit for all the sailors they saved. They were heros in my opinion.

Well, if I had ac3d I would make my own land AA guns. But obviouslly I don't have a choice! That's why even if it's un-realistic, I still wanted to try and get those guns.

you could not make functional guns with ac3d anyways... even exporting an ack from OE and converting it back to OE messes up the functionality... probably the PolyID tags. The conversion simply does not work fully.

Not true. First off, the VT fuzes were used on land in AA guns from as soon as they were developed, just as they were used at sea. In both cases, there were no chance of a dud landing in nme territory, so the secret was safe. In fact, VT fuzes were responsible for the great majority of V1 buzzbombs shot down.
Also, VT fuzes eventually were allowed to be used by artillery during land battles, shooting at nme territory. This 1st happened during the Battle of the Bulge, specifically defending the Elsenborn Ridge on the northern shoulder of the German penetration. The artillery restriction was scheduled to be lifted about the 1st of the year 1945 anyway, due to the over-all war situation. It was felt that even if the Germans found some duds, the war would be over before they could copy the design. This is why the US artillery during the Battle of the Bulge was able to shoot VT--they'd already started moving the fuzes to the front in anticipation. The need to repel the German counteroffensive, however, accelerated the timing by a couple weeks.

Interesting. This is the first time I've ever heard that.
