Yup, now when you typh guys lose you radiator, you can set her down in the drink and drive it home on the water. :)

How big of a hit did that float add and how many were made...any action seen?
-

the pontoons would greatly decrease performance

really raider?

LOL I realize the "greatly" part....any hard numbers? 150...200mph? ;)

Actually, the operational Monsoon was much faster than the normal Typhoon. The skid retracted and worked almost like a ramjet, why you see the unusual fixing attached to it. It could do over 450mph.
The Aussies nicknamed it the "Bongoroo".

bring the "Bongoroo" to ah!

I'd rather see the 1941 Typhoon modelled in as a separate aircraft, complete with the brittle aft fuselage structure modelled in.

Only a few of those were actually in service, they simply put fish plates over the rear fuselage joining section where the weakness was to strengthen it. Having an earlier typh with 'car door' canopy would be nice, but i dont think it would be that much different. I would rather see a Beaufighter or Whirlwind added as an early RAF attack aircraft. Or even better a Firefly as a RN attack aircraft.
The tail problem was completely fixed by the time the 'Bongoroo' was in service.
