Title: DD Day Style Gliders, Bridge capture
Post by: Martyn on March 24, 2006, 12:52:40 PM
Troops flown in gliders, or a jeep, etc. DD Day style...

Maybe 'capture' a road bridge to prevent those automated resupply convoys.

Just a thought.

This is something I have never thought about.  It would be a way, other than to "Camp" a panzer there to stop or slow down the resupply of a base.

Hmmf.  You ever notice the abundance of trees in the MA?  I can envision a Waco Glider being bumped like a pinball before finally exploding at the hands of the "Killer Squirrel in front of the General Sherman Sequoia".

You got a real point there.  But then, that was true in RL.   And they still did it.

Don't forget about the Pines shooting killer ack needles.  LOL

or the Whipping Willows!

PS - I would be up for this, a random number of troops survived, or something.

That works for me if they crash.  :aok

One thing, if it is a total wipe out, then everyone is dead.

Seems good, however, we'll just post for more comedy as this will propbably never be implemented in AH2.

I think u should be able to bomb a bridge and it would respawn  in 30mins or an hour.  I like the glider idea also but they wold be easy targets for fighters if they where released too early.:aok

They were also towed by Halifaxes, if we do get them, they could be replaced by Lancasters :)

Being able to take down a bridge would be something else the strat guys could use some of their time on.  It would slow down the resupply of a base and make the base easier to take when other things like ord, troops/supplies are down.  This is just one more way to make the game better.

On the other hand, I'm sure there would be some guys who would abuse it and go around just taking them out because they can.  Droping troops to "hold" a bridge would be better in the long run.  They could only "hold" it for a set amount of time, say 15 - 30 minutes, then be gone.  It would be harder to get troops to the bridge and take more time, so it would not be as apt to be abused as straffing and destroying the bridges.

Another thing; how many guys go around looking to shoot the convoys/barges now?  I don't think that many or that often.

I still think this is an interesting idea, but doubt it will ever happen.
