Who is the best pilot in any Allied ride?

I think oldman is a good Axis stick. Bigmax is good also.

For Allied, nobody will ever be as good as Hangtime in the P-51 ...:aok

Post by: B@tfinkV on March 28, 2006, 07:49:41 AM: Creton is extremely good in 109s, and yucca or blukitty pwn anyone in uber flapped allied rides. Leviathn or sniper would be the choice in a spitfire, and KillnU and his whole squad pwn everyone in P38s.

there are also some fantastic talents in the H2H rooms.

I got totaly kicked by a guy named DocUewe in the jellycross teams server, he in 109f, me in P47D25, although pwning me isnt hard.

some other names to look out for will become very apparent after a month in the MA.

wETRAT is vicious in a 109. He takes me to school in FT pretty consistently. I rarely get angles, and when I do, that 109 just shrugs off my la5's cannons while he works on the reversal. I have to find him again and record a video. I've been shot down so many times by him lately, I'm suprised when it's *not* him getting the kill. He must have it out for me or something, everytime I make my 4th kill, here comes that (*&!@# 109 again.

I've been lucky enough to have some pretty wild fights in the last year or so. Fought Yucca for a few minutes, through 3 reversals, finally getting beat in the vertical on my first SpitXVI flight. Fought Blukitty's pony for a few minutes in a 47D40, won back the advantage after a series of rolling scissors, to completely lose it all departing when I got excited and used full deflection pulling for a gun solution. Took 2 of us 3 planes and 7 minutes to shoot down Greebo using drag tactics. I've had Pellik make shots on me in his 38 that I still consider very improbbable (I can't do it with any sort of regularity).

Then there's the bomber guys who have been at it for years. It's hard to come out unscathed after making passes on their formation.

Finally, there's a bunch of guys like the 69th Hanger Bangers.. only way I'll fight their GV's is with 1000 pound bombs. I don't want any part of Loony, TalonX, or Puckhead when they're in a Tiger.

i'd say at best 35% of the ma 'suck' as far as dogfights and furballs, there is still a large majority of fighter jocks out there that will give anyone a fight, many not even known to the bigshots such as yourself.

There are plenty of good sticks, but for every good stick, there's a gaggle of crappy ones. Any time I run into somone good, or at least approaching it, I'm surprised. And whenever I do run into someone good, it tends to be one of a group of 15-20 or so people, all of whom have been around at least as long as me, most longer.

skatsr is a really good pony pilot

wilbus in whatever he has choosen

doom in his 190

GTR is a really good 109pilot (does he still fly havn't seen him for awhile)

there are some good pilots out there i remeber but can not remeber how to spell thier names let alone pronounce them

but the best pilot i ever flew against AkNimitz

i'm sure there is alot more pilots along the ability levels of the ones i have choosen that i have not either ran across or have not ran across in a situation where the fight sticks out

Get over the ego hump here, gents and help yer special events staff find and identify the guys that currently participate in the game, have the respect and support of YOU GUYS when a 'mission' goes up, can lead and fly wing; have good SA skills, fly well and 'get the job done'. Mission skills are a plus. Communictaion skills critical.

Bragging skill is not a requirement.

Now, lets try again.. who in the game these days[/i] are good sticks and fly Allied?

Same fer Axis.

Help yer CM staff, fer cripes sakes.. these guys work their butts off to bring good stuff to the game; don't make their jobs an annoyance... just help 'em out when they ask, mmmmkay?

I asked for input and got some good replies, and the usual bull that goes with the community these days.

We are putting together a special event, we are looking for the best of today's community to help us out. In the old days you could ask that and get results.

For those who posted some suggestions. Thanks. The rest ... well ...

Also... I'm not sure you'll be able to do a rumble as easily as you could 5 years ago. 4-5 Years ago, the entire community had one idea (or at least 2 very similar ideas) of what "The Best" meant.

"The Best" now means rarely dying, not being particularly dangerous to "bounce".

Plus I think the community is bigger and less close than it was back then, so different people are going to have lists of "the best" that other people are going to go "who the hell are those people?"

well urch, the "best" to the guys who've been around for a long time is still whoever's the best at fighting, not staying alive and cherry picking (I'll give pacerr the nod for that one, lol). I think most of the newer guys don't really see who the better sticks are... they see numbers on the score page, and sorties landed in the text buffer, and from that decide who they think is the "best".

might be a visit to the Special Events Arena this Saturday 5/09/06 9pm EST is in order.

Nobody is allowed to just tool overhead of two pilots fighting during a KOTH. So don't act like that happens (you too Wetrat...) 'cause it don't. If you are getting picked during a KOTH, then ya' should fly 'em more 'cause ya' need to gain a bit more Situational Awareness. Or possible work on how to kill when they have alt/E on ya'. Heck, watch BlulKitty in CM eye mode for a whole KOTH. That's how they fight.

In King of the Hill there is No avoiding fights. You have to either BE in a fight or OTW to the NEAREST fight at all times.

However, getting into dogfights with Shane was pure hell (but it was a lot of fun). Even five of us in a squad couldn't get him in his La-7... That's saying a lot, really.

I'm going to concentrate on getting better in the 109's and the Yaks. I like the 109's for energy fighting, and the Yaks are incredibly agile down low, and the -9T model has the king of all nose cannons.

I think most people in the MA like to fly a lot of the planes without really *learning* them. This makes for a lot of perk fodder for the more experienced pilots, though I can't say that's exactly a bad thing.

I can think of quite a few names that organized successful missions, despite odds or situations, and I can think of plenty of folks who'll handily slaughter me in a fight, but the names that appear in one list don't typically appear in the other.

Some guys are supernatural in one ride and average in others, some are above average in all but still not the best in any... I dunno, sounds weird, but thats how I feel. Plus you throw in the occasional run of good/bad luck, and it can totally screw anyone up.

Having said that, some I cringe to fight against...

Yucca in a P-47
Killnu in a P-38
Jaekart in a Hurricane (either one)
most of the 4thFG guys in a Pony
Doom in a 190 (easy to outthink sometimes, but he'll usually make you work for it)
N7 in any LW fighter
Pooface in a Spit (not unbeatable, but again will make you work for it)
Storch in a 110

But I have to say I still haven't seen anyone who scares me as much as some of the guys I used to fly WB with- I remember when DADDY ran up about 500 consecutive kills in a P-51D, Dracer taking out about a half dozen A6M3s in a P-40B, Dawger taking on our whole squad (8 of us in 109G6s) in a P-38J and killing or crippling every one of us and still making it home, SiloFT dogfighting Corsairs with a Val and winning...

Those are the only people I have problems with. 1v1 I have no problem going toe to toe and will not run. When you get to that level it’s a give and take sometimes you win and lose. I have no problem getting shot down by them.

Elevenk is a really good stick btw he did win koth last month.

I have had no problems with doom and he is not in my book top 5 (easy)

Yucca is a good 47 driver but I have never had a problem with him.

Shane in main is a loud mouth and I have never thought he was a good main pilot. Never da him but from what I have been told he is good.

Furball is a great stick and I respect him

Wetrat is another great stick and we have had some great fights

Good old skyrock da him last week and that’s the last time I will can’t take his mouth if he gets shot down. Last year we did have good time in the da but his wife must not be giving it up anymore our something.

Bullz great stick and I always have a good fight with him.

Kermit is one of my best kills if he is in the area I make a bee line for him. Not only do I respect him but it’s a joy to win our lose a fight.

I am sure their are some Rook pilots that would make the list but I have always been rook so I have never really come into contact in main.

I will never be the best, really don’t have that drive. I don’t gv our bomb what I do is kill and have fun. 200 is getting bad with out burst that I feel makes me wish I didn’t kill that person. I think people need to slow down and make sure that they understand everyone has a bad day and making a fool of them self on 200 is not going to help.

BTW some of the names being dropped are so old I have no clue when they were in AH becuase i know they dont play todays main.

are the only 4 who have given me the hardest time fighting against......and Wetrat is no slouch,
but there are so many more good pilots who put up an honest 1 vs 1 great fight I will not begin to list them.......just to many of them

and remember on any given day at any given time, even the best can be beaten.......in a 1 vs 1........after all noone has a perfect day everyday......

I am just glad someone didn't mess up and post my name, for I am nowhere near greatness, I just like to find an honest to goodness HARD FIGHT, that makes my hands sweat, makes me tighten up and give it my all, win or lose!!!!

but I consider I haven't been beat until I see that clipboard in the tower, even if I am missing 1/2 of my flying controls and have a PW and have oil leak, radiator hit and 1 gun left to shoot......

I fight ever fight thinking I am going to come out victorious, it's the mindset, if you even let a glimpse of thinking you are losing slip in to your mind during a fight, you might as well hang it up, doubt should never enter the mental picture....... and always be thinking 3 to 4 steps ahead of the engagement , is easier to type than to actually do......but that is what the BEST pilots are doing.......SA is a hard practice to master.......

Pellik and I used to go to the DA and TA whenever we had the chance but since he's been MIA, haven't. Good stick and we usually came out even but my comments weren't directed to Pellik =)

I do understand your feelings though. I almost never fly in the MA these days. I haven't been in the MA in several weeks. I let my son-in-law use my account in the MA (he and my daughter are living with us until their new condo is completed in late June), while I generally confine myself to the TA with occasional forays into the MA to keep my SA sharp. For me, the MA has become a giant horde fest and that is rather boring for me. I'm waiting for CT to debut and offer something fresh to enjoy.

Anyway, I'm sorry that one of my old pals is out of the game. Perhaps you'll try it again after they release CT.

Players, good and bad... ask me all the time... To me it is like.... "let's go over to Il2 or warbirds and try that kind of fight" I don't care about the DA or warbirds.. Also.. some think I can "teach" em something... I can't. If I do something they think is good... I really don't even know I am doing it nor would I know how to teach em to "feel" the fight.

I am easy to find tho. Not even very good. mostly newbies kill me in furballs... most "vets" these days only fly the horde in fast planes at alt. I never really run into em unless I am taking off from a runway they are vultching.

I didn't duel wildthing either... I am not that interested in seeing his "move" over and over. I have fought him in the ma after that tho... allways comes out the same.. he in a spit 5 or hurri with a little smash and me in an FM2... if he gets behind me I die... if I get behind him he dies. think it is about 50/50 at this point... but... like I said, I am not very good.. only put in 15 or so hours a month. I think I may have run into you too sirloin with about the same results.

difference between you and wildthing is that wild will get into the thick of it with low e in a slow plane... no matter what... I admire that... especially in todays arena.

As for guns.... I like guns tho. have em and shoot em maybe we can go to the range some day?

The "best" in the MA environment and the "best" 1 Vs 1.

These are vastly different, because they represent vastly different environments.

In one respect, 1 Vs 1 is easier because you need only keep track of one enemy. On the other hand, the competition is much, much better than the average MA pilot. Yet, in the MA, facing a dozen average pilots is often as dangerous as facing a top tier 1 Vs 1 pilot.

IMHO, the best pilots are the ones who excel in both environments. Drex could excel at both. There are perhaps two dozen players who excel at both.

As a trainer, I get to fly hundreds of duels every month. Many of the players of reputation have come to the TA and I'm always glad to see them as they break up the routine and provide a challenge. Some trainers join the dueling ladder, others do KOTH. I don't bother with any of those as I don't feel any need to prove anything. I rarely fly in the MA (I did last night, for one sortie) these days, but let my son-in-law fly on my machine and account once in a while, but only with my supervision. He got clobbered by the 56th FG the other night and managed to auger twice in about 5 minutes. He's another reason why I never check my scores...

Generally speaking, most of the official trainers and some of the volunteer trainers are top tier pilots. Guys like Nomak, Murdr, Yucca and Infensus are as good as anyone 1 Vs 1. Visitors such as Fester, Urchin, Creton, Timppa, Stang and others drop by the TA often and provide for outstanding duels amongst themselves and the trainers. The most fun I've ever had were on nights when the TA is full of good sticks dueling and furballing. With killshooter on in the DA, the TA is now the best place for this sort of fun.

So who is the best? Honestly, does it really matter? This game should be about having fun with friends, not a winkie measuring contest. Among the more skilled players, on any given night anyone of them could win or lose. What I consider the deciding factor is attitiude. Being among the best, and yet still humble, polite and courteous, that's what establishes a guy as a great player to me. And if anyone needed an example of that kind of player, I'd simply point to Drex or Todd or Yucca or BigMax and so on.

I can only speak for myself of course but I have found that worrying about and striving to "Be the Best" can actually be overly consuming and a bit destructive to players' state of mind in relation to the game. I know because I have been through it.

More years than I care to count my only goal in the game was to be the best 1v1 pilot around. When anyone spoke about me I wanted people to say "Holy crap can that guy fly" Yes...... alot of Ego involved here.

So that became my only focus. Hundreds and hundreds.......no.... thousands probably...... of hours dueling (and dying). Months of frustration followed by major break through's followed by more months of frustration.

It becomes so encompasing that you lose track of why you are playing the game in the first place. It becomes so competitive that its almost work to sit down and play. Once this type of thing becomes the norm then you find yourself doing/saying things that you would normally never do. Everything becomes a bit "Twisted". I found myself in heated confrontations with other players over nothing, absolutely nothing. Etc Etc Etc........

Did I achieve the goal? Well..... at one time I can honestly say I believe I was the best 1v1 pilot around. It didnt last though. You see I had myself so wound up (mentally) that I couldnt sustain that level of play. Multiple meltdowns followed..... many of which I am not proud of. All a product of taking the game way to serious. Which is IMO a product of having an obsessive goal to achieve.

Some guys are nothing short of magic behind the stick. I always was very envious of players who I felt could just turn it on at will. Money players. Guys who are automatic all the time. Leviathn is one WldThing is another.... there are a few more. I had to work at it full time. I mean every night in the DA to get and stay sharp enough to be in the catagory of "One of the Best" I could never just turn it on at will.

The point of all of this rambling nonsense is that for alot of players I believe that it can literally wreck the game for them. I think one of the people who posted in this thread is on the same road that I was. I can see the signs.

The game is about fun. Make friends, tell some jokes and if the stars are aligned right land a couple nice snapshots. It took me since tour 19 to figure that out :rofl

Amen brother! I believe the same, I also believe in a "put my head down & charge regardless of the consequences" type of life. I do it here in the game as well as my life, I ain't beat till I'm beat, & then you'll have to beat me again & again every time we meet because one day, this dog will have his day.

I am really grateful I have a new plane or tank every time I end up in the tower though, it's a much quicker healing process than in real life.

I did Yucca. When he came back for a bit we horsed around dogfightin each other for fun. He taught me some things about the cat i never new and i showed him a few tricks i had. I loved wingin with him in F6s. Also i'd like to throw out Hooligan too because he taught me what i didn't know about Hellcats. BKs are a great bunch no matter how you percieve them or think of them. All the guys have taught me a lot. Maybe i'll come back someday.

Your squad desperately needs to come to the MA and give the BK's some competition for "best squad" I guess... nobody's ever heard of y'all even though you apparently dominate the sideshow arena.

Come on Storchita... nothing irritates me more than false modesty. If you think you are hot ****, say so. By the way, saying how poor "good" pilots are in comparison to yourself is the same thing as proclaiming your greatness.

Here, I'll show you how this is done with some simple hypotheticals.

You put me and Lev in the same plane, co alt, headon merge.. I'll win at least 4 of 10. You put me in a better plane with the same circumstances, and I'll win more. You put me behind him, and I'll win more. You put me in an X on 1 against him and I'll win more (I imagine I'd probably "win" all those).

You put you in the same plane, co alt, headon merge and you might win 1 in 100. Maybe. Start in a better plane? Won't make a difference for you. You start behind him and you might win 5 in 100. The only chance you've got is to "win" an X on 1 against him. In other words, Storchita... you are a joke.
