Just seen the movie Layer Cake. Not a bad brit movie. Was pretty funny.
Sorta reminded me of the hon kong shoot em ups tho... neither country is supposed to have guns but their movies are non stop shooting...
Good line in the movie was the hero was in trouble and his friend says.. "yer gonna need one of these" and opens up the hidden cabinet with a crapload of handguns and a thompson sub gun... The hero says "Oh crap, you know I frigging hate guns..... oh... that's a pretty one right there.."
Two things... if you know anything about guns... just ignore the gun stuff that is sure to irritate and...
Turn on english subtitles. You won't understand half of what any of the characters are saying without the english subtitles... some of the characters speak a really bad british so you won't understand a word they say.

I'll check it out. It scored 7.4/10 on IMDB.
I see Jamie foreman is in it. He was in Nil By Mouth along with Ray Winstone. Two peas in a pod in sarf London - near where Chortle lives.

can you say that again in english?

6000 comedians out of a job and.......................... ............................. ..:)

I saw it a while ago. Seen it a few times since. It's a good movie. The chick Sasha that's with The Duke has the worst accent in the whole movie. Sounds like a drunk retarded Brit.

Wow, Beet watching John Wayne movies, Lazs watching British movies...I sense a disturbance in the Global Warming Force.
-
rip... not really... beet watches the sappiest JW movies made so that he can make fun of em... I watch the most shoot em up brit movies (with english subtitles on) so that I won't be bored to tears by.....

:aok
Lazs - have you seen "Essex Boys" starring Sean Bean? I think you'd like it...
-
beet... you need to see both "the searchers" and "the shootist" both are movies that most people feel are good examples of Waynes best.

Rio Bravo is my all time fav Duke movie.
Got to sort of look over Ricky, but still...............:)
-
"The Searchers" may be the best western ever made, giving both sides of the struggle between settler and Native American in as fair a manner as was possible at the time of its' release.

agreed...I would also add "the man who shot Liberty Valence"
-
"Go ahead! Reach for it Liberty! PLEASE!"
-
John Wayne was his best as Gengis Kahn
-
liberty valance was indeed a good wayne movie. It is easy to underestimate Wayne until you notice him holding his own with huge actors/actress's in the movies they are together in. James stewart did a really good job in liberty valance.

ROFL! Watched it last night. I can see why Lazs had to turn on the subtitles. I'm sure Lazs would have been confused by lines like "The grub in 'ere's so good, it'll make your bollocks tingle" :lol Also, I don't expect Lazs to have known what was meant by "a grass" or "to grass someone up".
I didn't need the subtitles, but I did backspace to hear some lines a second time. Part of the problem was that the music track was too loud, and on several occasions drowned out the dialogue. Plus I had a good belly laugh about xxxx's phone call with Dragon -
"we can meet here for breakfast. I can squeeze some juice and grind some coffee..... do you know where I live?"
"No."
"Well ***k off then" - click
:rofl
-
yep... there was a lot of badly slurred expressions that only brits use in any case along with a heavy music soundtrack. I got the tip to turn on english subtitles from a friend and I was glad I did.
still...it was a pretty funny action movie. Not as good as lock stock and two smoking barrels tho.

Lazs - you really should get Essex Boys. I think it was better than either of the other two. The event depicted by the poster is a true event - the Range Rover murders of 1995. All the rest is supposedly fiction, but they had to say that, didn't they? I've read the book, and the events in the film have strong parallels...
