Title: Multi engine aircraft
Post by: mibu on April 01, 2006, 05:33:51 PM
Im kinda new to aceshigh and would probably like to subscribe, but not if i cant use all aircraft. ALL multi engine aircraft wont fly for me.....i know ur all thinking get better at it right? well my bro has aces high aswell. I flew multi engine aircraft on his computer  before and i flew them fine, got them off the ground with no problem. The auto take of does not help for the multi engines. Could you plz help me?  Is there something in option that is preventing this? maybe i am bad at it....but i just dont know ive tried everyting

In heavy bombers, always use only 25 or 50 % fuel. That will take you across the map and back.

With the lighter loadout, takeoff is easier. Also, drop a notch or two of flaps when your halfway down the runway, to give you additional lift. Select a runway that doesnt have a hill or a tree at its end :). Dont start climbing immediatly after getting wheels off the ground, start gaining some speed first. If you still have trouble, holler and ill meet you in the TA and well get you going. Or ask any of the trainers.

check out http://www.netaces.org for tons and tons of info on how to set up game, how to start flying and how to bomb etc etc. Almost any question will get answered there.

Welcome to Aces High :).

PS: Dont compare other flying games to Aces High. They are programmed a lot different. As far as i know AH is one of the most realistic (ie difficult) games.

Edit: Make sure your Joystick is set up and calibrated correctly. Check if youre going 100% throttle on takeoff (Easiest way to check this is: Grab a fighter that has WEP - like the P51, go full throttle and press P... if that does give you extra power, your full throttle)

Edit2: Also check if you have ALL engines selected. If not, hit CTRL E.

Thanks for the advice but it realy didnt help. I can the tail off n stuff but once i pull of i turn into the ground. I cant stop it from going into the ground because the rudders are allways as far as they can go. What i dont understand is why is my brother's aces high so easy to take off. I played on his before downloading it myself and it was so easY! The only difference  from my comp and his is the joystick.......my doesnt have those rudders things.......im so frustrated >:( :furious:mad:

Do you center your rudder after you get wheels of the ground? ("S" key)
Then, after takeoff, just keep the plane as it is for a while, dont roll (aileron) or climb untill you got some speed.

Also, what kind of Joystick do you have?
Maybe even try your brothers Joystick on your computer, to see if it is a Joystick problem or the game setup thats messed up.

A bypass to your frustration would be using autotakeoff for bombers for the time being, untill we get your problem sorted. On your clipboard, go to SETUP > PREFERENCES > FLIGHT to switch it on. Spawn and just start the engine/throttle up. Dont touch any controls otherwise. Autotakeoff will get you off the ground and leave you in autoclimb.

I was just checking something in offline mode.  When I upped a P38 from A4 Mindano, it ossilated left to right the entire way down the runway with auto take off engaged.  I tried 4 or 5 times to duplicate this after I had finished my original objective, but it did not happen again.

Mibu is saying that milti-engine planes are veering off for him with auto-take off engaged.  I will check to see if his issue was resolved in my absence from the TA.

I think it is probably my joystick or something wrong with the calibration. ONLY for 2+ engine, when i put the slider all the way down it goes full and the rudders go for the left, when i put the slider up it goes full throttle and the rudders make it turn right. But i did try my brother's force feedback joystick and it kinda did the same thing. Ill try to use my brothers main one and see if it works.

Sounds like only 1 engine is throttling up. Look at your manifold pressure gauges and see if both engines are spooling up when u increase throttle.  If there not, that your problem.  U don't have all engines controlled off 1 throttle.

did you map the "select all Engines" on your joy stick or keyboard?

Murdr, do you have both rpm controls mapped to your stick or throttle ?  Ive had the verring issue too , ive noticed that with both rpm mapped , one engine gets to full rpm first , causing it to veer to that side , when the 2nd engine catches up , it tries to veer back . It continues to wooble back and forth till i lift , or knock off the auto pilot . This happens to me the first flight after i start AH  it wont do it again till i restart the game .

I had this problem too, and my friend helped figure it out.  You need to set throttle 2 3 and 4 to invert.
