Looks rather severe.

He did make it, to his alternate destination...its funny, but with a crosswind of that magnitude a Cessna 172 could have gotten in there, landing perpinduclar to the runway & touching down at near zero groundspeed.
then it would flip over when it turned to taxi off the runway

airliners need thrust vectoring!
put thrust sideways! problem solved! :D

It wasn't the crosswinds that got him, it was the gusts and a hefty bit of roll PIO. My guess is that the non-flying pilot called for the go-around as the guy flying was probably fixated on the landing and may not have realized the PIO situation.
I've seen vids of what happens when they don't go around in PIO situations... Bad news usually.
Obligatory shot at airbus - Guess the fancy schmancy fly by wire isn't all that... You might even say that the FBW roll gains were inappropriately tuned, leading to the PIO. Not too uncommon a problem in FBW planes, but of course airbus says their FBW is perfect and better than any full authority system.
Er... IN! :)
