Title: Ok Ive had it
Post by: FiLtH on April 03, 2006, 03:51:20 PM
Enough all ready with people complaining that other players are ruining their gameplay because someone takes down a hanger. Some guys understand that the town is best to kill first, and hangers second if the cap isnt there. Others are new and just like to bomb stuff. Its just the way it is.

This arena is'nt setup for one type of player. Learn to play with eachother, bite your tongue and move to another field. Its not like you have to walk there.

Channel 200 looks like a romper room. Its embarrassing to be part of it.
What if you were on a baseball team and the 3rd and 2nd basemen decide they dont like the regular game part of it, and just want to play catch, all the while dumping on the other players?

On the subject of the LCA, alot of them are new guys who maybe just recently found the game. They are excited about it like we once were. Let them have their fun.  Chasing them away only hurts the game. One day you guys will find yourself wishing there was something to shoot at.

Respect the player for his subscription, if nothing else. He has the right to do whatever he wants, even if its not what you want.  It takes years of conditioning to be as geektafied as we are over a flightsim...don't chase others away before it has a chance to take on them.

i would accept the whole noob thing, except for the fact that i lost count of the times at a base with 20 freindlies over it, few town buildings up, few strafing them, when a buff guy comes on range and says he is heavy, he is dropping the FHs....then about 10 guys tell him, just hit the town, goon is here, field is capped, then boom, there goes FHs.  so the didnt no better doesnt always work.

Well said Filth...

Had a guy this weekend go all ballistic cause myself and another player dove down to help out. He was all worried we were going to steal his kill... Kept yelling "stop shooting stop shooting".  Told him we were just trying to help, he made it quite clear he didn't want our help and complained about us shooting at "his kill" cause it was on fire. I've seen flaming planes shoot people down. Anyway, since he was being quite rude I told him I didn't care if it was a chute I was gonna shoot it. The other pilot who dove in with me said if it's in the air it's fair game. We both told him that he was on his own cause were NOT going to cover his six....  Like Dude, chill out... He flew off ALONE never to be seen again.

I'm with ya Filth

Blowing stuff up = fun
Shooting planes down = fun
Getting shot down = ok, not so fun...but it make the other two more fun

CC bigsky.  I had some guy the other day zoom in front of me firing at the Zeke I was after and then start crying and calling me names for killstealing.

People REALLY need to lighten up in the MA a little.  I do believe the field-hospital in the TA has a stick-from-anus remover...

It does sort of *suck* when you work your butt off & flame the enemy ( who now only has a matter of seconds to live ) only to have someone come screaming in & try to take the kill. I have also seen flaming planes kill someone before going down, but not more than once or twice in a year & a half. Maybe he shouldn't have been rude about it...but he probably thought what you did was rude. I will not even fire on an enemy plane if I see one of my comrades in a good position to make the kill; most of the time I'll ask first if they have it under control or if they need help, ( I'm not much help but I try ) There are times however when things happen & I "kill-steal" without intending too, I usually give a " sorry about that" & usually I am forgiven. Being respectful to other players & posters is sadly lacking for the majority of people.

Seeing the crying on channel 200 from a successful bomb drop on fighter hangars carries more applause than anything else I can imagine.

If they dont like it, they are welcome to c'mon up and challenge me at 12k.  But I'm pretty sure most of the Spit16/La7/N1K fellas would get a nosebleed up above 2k

I have been at this game for 4-5 years now. I have respect for the furballers and the toolshedders. If the BT's Blue Thunders are going to take down a base we stay away from the furballers so they can keep their game play. If a pilot takes your kill let him no about it without offending. Usually it is newbes and need to be shown the ropes. Lastly it is a game, when you get that upset walk away, kiss the wife, hug the kids, and pet the dog.

Exactly! This mornig we were trying to take A6 ,some bomber guys come in and take out the FH and leave the VH alone, about 30 gv's came pouring out of it,then they complained cause gv's were in town and they couldnt take it.Long story short we finnally go it ,but after about another 2 hrs of fighting.

First rule is always to take out VH/ACK then proceed from there. If 30 friendlies are there ,it should be capped, but leaving the VH standing just stops them from upping fighters, as they get gv's out to stop the vulching which is already stopped by the FH's being down.

I fully understand that most are new guys ,but there's almost always a vet or seasoned player close enough to help steer the newer players in the right direction.Over all though I still like the game and it doesnt bother me  how people prefer to play their game.I'll just go attack another field to draw enemy away.

actually we could eliminate channel 200 and all the smack goes with it, if you need to "talk" to the other country then do a PM.

I cry alot on 200 but it is just a bad habit like smoking (just quit that in Dec after 40years of 3 packs a day).

The funny thing is that guys say stuff on 200 in the heat of the moment that they would never say otherwise.

As far as "toolshedders vs Furballers" it's all in the eye of the beholder and will NEVER change until this game is changed (Tour of Duty anyone)

Yup, that's the core of the antipathy. They don't just bomb things randomly they consciously and deliberately bomb good fights dead. Donut map really spotlights this mentality. It's not like fighter jocks just arbitrarily decide to hate them because they like to bomb stuff, it's all about where, when and what they bomb...It's not a noob mistake to bomb FHs dead everytime a decent fight flares up. The Donut map FT fiasco is a prime example of this...People who suck in fighters and decide to be toolshedders have just as much resentment toward fight jocks as the other way around and for less good reason...

This is the exact mentailty that draws angst from fighter jocks...This isn't a noob here this is just a bonified griefer, which is what at least 75% of the 'toolshedders' are. It's not that they just have some love and passion for heavies and dropping eggs, they really just want to watermelon on other people's fun...It's no wonder we hate them...

While I was new once, many moons ago, you'll never see me saying I'm teh superawesome furballer, or i'm mega133t pielut, and play my way or F off. I played, I did what was fun, then I got tired of that, and moved on to some other area of gameplay.

At no point did I purposefully do anything to irritate any other group, aside from shooting them down. There is, however, a group of people who aren't new, and actually do things just to piss other people off. Those folks are fair game for any and all abuse in my book. It's like executing murderers; sure, it's still murder, but we're pissed off, so it's acceptable.

A little "moral flexability" is a good thing.

I will, however, agree that 200 is mostly filled with idiots who should be neutered and sold to pharmaceutical testing labs.

What a bunch of BS Zazen.  You make so many arbitrary statements you are ridiculous.

You haven't the faintest clue as to the what's or why's we or anyone else bombs or runs missions against anyhting.  You're too busy crying about FT to be paying attention.  You don't know the word "Teamwork" because you are too busy crying about "me" and "I" and your precious little FT.

All the teams in here toolshed their butts off when things get tough and bases are being taken.  All the teams in here will blast the crap out of any base, fight ongoing or not if they feel that's what they need to do.

You also seem to think that being good in a fighter is all that matters...lol....got news for ya buddy, being good in a fighter don't mean chit.  There's too many things in the game that are fun to be worried about being a score potato or the "best" in fighters.  Of course, someone in the other thread hit the nail on the head when he said somehting about not getting perks in the TA.  That pretty much sums it up right there.  You want your little personal convenient "area' where you can rack up your perkies and score to lord it over someone else's head.  Whooooopy!  Makes ya a real big man, now don't it?

What a joke..........

Most who participate in FT could give a rats arse about score and perks. That was a pretty arbitrary statement.

lord it over someone else's head ... nice try tho.

Hey Toad......I've got a lot of Perkies.  Maybe we can talk HT into doing something like the old S&H Greenstamp routine!  Ya get say 4K worth of Perkies ya get a Cottage on Lake Erie for two weeks in January.  8K worth of Perks ya get a free cross country non stop Bus Ticket from Passaic New Joisy to Bimidji Minnesota!  And! (Drum Roll Please) at 12K perks a free Lobotomy!

Just a thought.  Well....maybe more then one thought....well.........where'd I put my Ludes?

Maybe so Slapshot, but Zazen and a couple others whine incessantly about it.  Zazen consistently talks watermelon about how poor others are in fighters, etc (when he isn't whining).  So nothing arbitrary about it....

I'd be willing to bet most of the people in FT haven't checked their scores in months. Perks are kind of a joke. I wanted them when I first started playing, but after the first year, there's not much point anymore. Oooh, I get to up a 262... which is only exciting against other jets, otherwise it's just a really fast cannon plane .... now I'm lucky to get to play 10 hours a month, and when I do play, I'm in a hurry to fight as many people as I can. That means FT. The more you play, the less you'll find score & perks have to do with anything.

Ch.200 and this BBS.

What surprises me most is the number of seasoned players who are more or less turning friends into enemies in the process.

It's gotten to the point for me that if I want to fly I have to consciously not read the BBS first, or it'll just kill my mood.

1 good thing about not playing any more. is hearing so much stupidity on 200. I Use to get kids going sometimes by stateing Americans didn't give up when Japan bombed detroit and other places in USA. This was good for 30 to 40 mins of telling me it never happened. So many think they know ww2 tactics and planes  and very few really do. As matter of fact Bob Kerry ww2 vet who works at Airzoo in kalamazoo Michigan, told me that lanc's did alot of low level dive-bombing. Mostly agaisnt Sub pens  coastal defenses in france. " It wasn't to hard 20 degree angle engines back to 50 %  then after release wieght lost sends you out of dive, and you go 75% power go home".

But in here you got so many that ASSuME its impossible or never happen. Bob Said just watch fire retardent planes drop same exact tactics.

Life is to short some times, If you get angry in this game you need to step back and take good hard look at your life. I'm sure its in toilet or balancing on the Rim if this Game upsets you. Or your upset others like playing their way.

I don't know exactly how far east the japanese were able to bomb...but it was a considerable distance & detroit has a ring to it. ( I know they made it as far as Michigan but did they drop? ) People have argued with me about the fact U.S. citizens died inside the continental United States as a result of Japanese bombs. They also fail to realize just how close the United States was to being the victim of biological warfare ( unit 731 ) with bubonic plague instead of high explosives &  incendiaries delivered.

P.S. sorry for the derail

Ezactly why law was passed to keep newspapers from reporting bomb damages and deaths or even to say they mad land. a family died finding a unexploded bomb  they try to take home and it went off. over 1 million acres were burned by ballon bombs.

There was a show I think on the History Channel about some of this stuff. I know they talked about the balloon bombs but I'll be damned if I can recall how far inland they said they got.

The first balloons were launched on November 3, 1944 and began landing in the United States on November 5th (off San Pedro, California) and by the following day (November 6th) were landing as far away as Thermopolis, Wyoming. 285 confirmed landings/sightings were made over a wide area, stretching from the Aleutian Islands, Canada and across the width and breadth of the continental United States: as far south as Nogales, Arizona (on the Mexican border) and easterly, to Farmington, Michigan (10 miles from Detroit). Most of the ballast bags were released in the trip across the north Pacific, but a few balloons crashed without exploding and some of the ballast bags were recovered. All of the bags contained the same type of dark colored sand.

The contrast is also interesting. So often the American sense of "technology" is finding new ways to apply more brute force to a problem. Those balloons were made of paper, for cripe sake ... almost zero resource cost to construct the delivery platform. And won't show up on radar.

When I attack an enemy field, FH's are priority and then VH is 2nd priority unless our CO says otherwise.  If I am told to go through the vulchfest and drop the last hanger, its gonna be dropped whether people like it or not. I follow the order of the CO or highest ranking member in charge

No ... I just appreciate the elegant simplicity of the design and the contrast. While the Germans were firing rockets into London the Japanese launched these things made mostly of organic materials and carried by the wind.

Well, the Germans did have a tendency to over engineer everything. But, you have to admit they had some pretty fantastic equipment. Had they had decent leadership we might all be speaking Duetsch right now.

I almost bought a Nambu at an estate a month or so ago. After looking it over it made me wonder how the Japonese were able to get as far in the war as they did.

Yeah ... years ago I read an account from the N. Afrikan campaign. Rommel was so impressed with the Western Desert Force that he ordered that the Afrika Korps set up their own unit to raid the British read area. By the time they finished equiping this unit with armoured cars, light arty, etc. etc. they found it couldn't carry enough fuel to support its own operations. So they scrapped the whole idea.

Well my point was to show people believe myths and there own perception instead of FACTS. Most think paul revere Rode thru country saying british are comeing When in FACT he rode 19 miles while another rider rode from boston to Philly over 345 miles on horse back stopping just to change horses. ISrael Bissell was his name. Or people believe old myth Christopher Columbus discover world wasn't flat, And that he told queen i can go to india by going west i'll prove world not flat another myth.

This game has its urban legends and myths to.  Cable pulling, indestructable tanks for some. i seen sprite u had to be hurt, list goes on. Just play for enjoyment and life becomes easier :) Don't be a old gossip woman.

Cable pulling indestructable tank? Thats a new one on me.....I heard about a beer hall you could fly too on one map from one of my squaddies ( & one of the nicest people I've ever talked to in game or in real life ) S2F - or just Sugar that's what we call him. He can't remember what map it was & no one he talks to remembers it. Does anyone remember this? And if so; could you post it so I can tell him what map it was? I know I go nuts when I can't remember something, I wake up in the middle of the night: "AH-HA....HEY WIFE....I REMEMBER!!"......Wife: "That's great, now go back to sleep, you can celebrate your mental victory later."
